Subjectivity obviously applies, and I also don't think this man meant to be intentionally harmful. But it's perhaps worse to claim ignorance as justification for clear misogyny. The complete lack of emotional intelligence was disheartening, to say the least. I was made to feel as if I were overwrought, overreacting, and an inconvenience. While I'm sure he doesn't remember the interaction this way, or possibly at all, ignorance should not excuse one's poor behavior. I suppose I'm naive to assume that such flagrant discrimination, unconscious or not, shouldn't remain prevalent or acceptable in the same way it was 80 years ago. We all have bad days at work, and that's okay. However, as an adult who presumably chose his career, this nurse should know, at the very least, how treat others with respect. I wonder if this interaction would have been even worse had I been a woman of color. Or how it might have differed had a male partner been there with me. Occurrences such as mine perpetuate distrust in regard to medical institutions. Hospitals are sought with the assumption that the expertise of a professional will be provided- that as the patient, you will be safely, kindly, and responsibly taken care of. But why should an institution be trusted, when it can't fulfill its basic community responsibilities or fundamental humanity? If given a choice, do not seek care here. ESPECIALLY if you have a child or infant. The aforementioned nurse also told me that I should've gone to the Huntley location, as Woodstock doesn't have a pediatric physician. If so, how would the public be expected to know this? Why would a hospital not be equipped to serve all ages in emergency situations? Frankly, if thats true, it's unacceptable, misleading, and irresponsible. We can do better, people!!

The physicians had a lot of emergencies coming through the door. But the hospital worked in a way very efficient, with plenty of proper crew resource management and high levels of clinical knowledge the staff was able to create a care plan to get my friend back up and functioning in her daily life. My friend has chronic pain and fibro. She needed to get some sort of pain relief right away and this hospital did it for her. They bought her enough time to make it to the procedure when she will hopefully have longer lasting relief. It's good to know there's a quality hospital ready to serve in the near community.

Within 15 minutes I was taken back into a room. The nurse came in and saw me ten minutes later. In total, I spent four hours there - having a number of tests, etc., before being discharged. Wow. I know that ERs get busy, and maybe I showed up at the right time, but the speed of care delivery and the friendliness of the staff blew me away.

I was diagnosed with COVID on 1/14/26, I have asthma and was having trouble breathing. I was diagnosed with COVID at Endeavor's immediate care sister location. My physician there told me to immediately go to the ER with any signs of trouble breathing, given I had been hospitalized before because of COVID. 1/15/26 My husband drove me to the ER at 8pm. The waiting room was full with other patients. The front desk clerk was empathetic and checked me in with my husband telling her my symptoms. We sat and waited 40 minutes before they took my vitals. At that time we encountered 2 rude snotty nurses. One typing on the computer asking what was going on (A nurse) and the other taking my vitals (B nurse). The one on the computer asked what was wrong, I stated I have a bad cough and trouble breathing. Which she snarkily replied "Yeah but that tends to come with covid". I informed her of my medical history. The 2nd nurse taking my vitals (B nurse) was rushing and was rough with me. She checked my blood pressure but looked away while my arm was turning bright red and numb from the machine. A nurse told me I can wait outside, mind you, I still had the oxygen and blood pressure equipment on me still. They did not care for my well being, only to rush me out so they could gossip again. Another 40 minutes go by and I get called for blood work. C nurse was very polite and empathetic as well. When C nurse pulled me to the back, A and B nurse were gossiping again. B nurse said "ugh everytime I do 1 another 2 come in. I just can't keep up hahaha". I informed C nurse I had blood work done at the immediate care the day before, and was trying to go in the same spot to prevent further bruises. Another 30 minutes go and I got called for an x-ray. The physician was very efficient and quick. He informed me it would be 40 minutes before the specialist could read my chart. I went back to my seat in the waiting room. While waiting, there were elderly people who were there 6 hours with new arrivals being helped before them. People that were "fine" when they came in, but saw the room filled so they constantly harassed the staff about waiting, even though they were there 20 minutes. They made fake groaning and moaning noises, even getting louder for attention, they got helped first. In the words of the staff "at least you guys don't have to hear her anymore" But that's when others started leaving or being vocal about not being helped yet. My husband asked the desk how much longer for me, because I was still having trouble breathing and it was already midnight. They stated "I don't know but there's at least 4 more people were ahead of you" That's when we decided to give them 1 last hour before leaving ourselves. When we did decide to leave, we checked out at the desk to inform them we were leaving because of the wait time. In the middle of our conversation, another nurse walked in on us talking with the desk clerk, heard us wanting to leave. Which she sighed loudly and rolled her eyes. I will never ever go back to this ER. The most unprofessional group of human beings I've ever encountered in the medical field. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO WORK WITH PEOPLE, GET OUT OF THE MEDICAL FIELD. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH GROUPS OF PEOPLE IN PAIN, THEN DON'T WORK IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM. It is known emergency rooms are more packed at night then the day. Then why hire unkind rude people to deal with the public? The only way I would've got attention is if I made a scene whining and crying or dropped dead on the floor from asphyxiation. Because clearly, my medical history or the current state I was in coughing loudly the entire time, showing I was having trouble breathing, was not enough for them.

Oh, where to start?! I'm giving 2 stars only because one nurse was friendly (though it was after I…read morecomplained that nobody was listening to me ) and they got my pain medicine right away. 1) Staff was more focused on speed than quality of care. As a pharmacy technician and health care student, I truly believe that the most important part of quality care is to thoroughly listen to a patient. Health problems, like the human body, can be complex. I was interrupted several times by the nurse practitioner in the triage room and therefore unable to adequately explain my issues to him. He also spoke so fast that I could barely comprehend what I was even supposed to be answering. During the course of my stay, I was interrupted by at least 2 other personnel while trying to explain my condition, giving me the impression that they all just wanted to finish their interaction with me as quickly as possible. I also could hear much of the staff bad-mouthing patients from outside my door which I found both unprofessional and especially irritating after the poor attention I had been receiving. 2) They did not listen. I had horrible abdominal pain, disorientation, diahhrea, etc., and all they did was draw blood and perform an uncomfortable rectal exam. I should note that I was only at this ER because it was recommended from a very competent doc from immediate care that I seek emergency care due to location of pain and a previous infection I had had. A rectal exam was done to check for hemorrhoids because I mentioned blood when I would wipe. Never mind that I was previously hospitalized for C. diff (which I did mention) that can cause the same thing. The doc at immediate care said I would probably need a scan, but no scan or any other procedure to look inside was ever done. They also repeated urinalysis, even though I told the NP that immediate care had already done this, and the results were fine. When it came time to administer my medications, the nurse was going to give me a proton pump inhibitor, even though I had already told (again) the NP I did not want since it can aggravate C. diff. Good thing I asked for a second time what they were giving me. 3) Patient comfort/ wellbeing was not considered. This may be minor, but it goes with the bad experience that, although a blanket was offered to me, it took them forever to get it, and I actually had to ask someone else for it. I was in a shared room and wearing a gown that was difficult to tie to ensure proper coverage, so... yeah. Also took forever to get someone to put the bed rails down so I could use the bathroom. I actually ended up just hurting myself even more to reach the release myself. Oh, and the lack of testing I mentioned earlier is worth another mention here. I was sent home with prescriptions for medications that were not even administered to me during my stay. They had given me zofran for nausea, a "GI coctail" for gastrointestinal symptoms, and morphine for pain. The cocktail had lidocaine, malox, and donnatol in it, which I only know because I asked. This was a Friday evening, so I asked upon my discharge if I could have something for my symptoms just to get me through the 3 day weekend until I could see a doctor (they were not going to give me anything but a referral for a GI doc). They ended up handing me scripts for bentyl and pepcid... how would we know if those would even help my symptoms? I only say this because I've had bentyl in the past and it doesn't help me, but the cocktail did. Not all meds work for all people. I asked for a script for Zofran (one of the meds they had actually given me). They came back with one that would only last a day and a half. This is a non-controlled med so I'm not sure why they would need to be stingy with it. 4) Facility did not appear to be very clean. It was grey and the floors were dirty and had several pieces of trash from used medical equipment all over it. Also, I did not witness a single person wash their hands. In conclusion, I did feel much better after the meds they gave me. But I left with nothing more than a referral and scripts I did not need, as well as confusion as to why no imaging was done. Needless to say, I will drive a few extra miles elsewhere in the future if an ER visit is needed. I am beyond pissed that I wasted my copay on this joke of a hospital.
