In recent years they've gone to a telephone system where I believe they answer your call out of State. You have to put your birthdate in First so they can route you to the right people and then when they do that you gotta tell them who your doctor is, what your birthdate is again and you have to leave a message and they never ever, ever contact you back. I physically had to make an appointment with the doctor just so I can ask him a question because there's a problem with one of my prescriptions. In my opinion, this is ridiculous. Years ago you could call the doctors office and they would usually get back to you later on that day but not anymore. Corporate America is taking over everything and they are destroying it in the same breath.

I have used their doctors for…read moreyears but will never set foot in their office or any Advocate office after my most recent experience. A few quick points: - They are extremely expensive: A simple diagnosis of a sinus infection, which I told then I had, five minutes with the doctor cost $179.00. That is with medical coverage from a Fortune 500 company. - They are well known to charge outrageous prices: As I said, I had been going there for years but something has really changed. After being overcharged I started looking for a new doctor using my health plan. One tool compared average area costs for common appointments against the individual office they were reviewing. This Advocate Medical Group's office was 70% HIGHER then even the area average in Algonquin. This is a con-job. - They will not respond to your requests without constant pressure: Kevin A. had the same experience I'm having. They are totally unresponsive. Their tactic is to avoid you. Avoid this office like the plague. Avoid Advocate as a whole if this is how they run their business.

He pays attention to details, remembers (or takes notes) on personal conversation, and has a good bedside manner. He tends to give standard treatments for diagnoses, but this is adequate for the little I've needed. He would get 4-5 stars. The office was once very responsive, but now that it is part of Advocate, is tedious and far from responsive. It takes two weeks to get anything by mail - prescriptions or results. This seems to be that mail has to go through some kind of corporate mail room. It makes no sense, but has been consistent, and has been an issue at least the past two years with no resolution. The billing seems awkward, though in the end, fair. The facility does have most of what one would need, including ACL for blood work, on premises.

I was out of work for over 6 weeks and in agonizing pain due to the multiple misdiagnosis including sending me to a surgeon to have major surgery. Needless to say I never needed the surgery. A lay person would have had more common sense then the treatment plan they laid out for me. I had to keep going back because I was on an HMO plan and they were handling my disability claim at the time. I am so glad I followed my instincts and insisted they send me to a specialist, who finally diagnosed my condition, which by the way was all due to the medication the PA prescribed. I highly considered filling a law suit. In my opinion their was malpractice and a lack of training which resulted in unnecessary pain and suffering which could have been avoided. This experience left me scared and financially vulnerable. I hope to find a practice I can trust again.

I think he tries to educate his patients (and parents) while there, and let them know what he thinks is going on. The office is full of nurses and ladies at the front desk. The ladies are usually friendly, and listen to what you need. The office itself is bright, and clean. There's a series of small, private exam rooms. The office has always been able to accommodate getting us in when needed. I'm a bit attached to Good Shepherd Hospital and associated buildings. I have come to the Good Shepherd facilities since I was a kid, myself. My own pediatrician was in this same Doctor's building. I started bringing my son here when we lived in Algonquin. We moved to Buffalo Grove about 5 years ago, and I STILL make the drive out to Barrington to see him, which goes to show how much I like him - because it's quite a drive to get there. Would I recommend Dr. Beckerman?ABSOLUTELY.

In a nutshell, Dr. Beckerman, while having a positive and upbeat manner, completely missed a diagnosis of strep throat in my daughter. I went in on a Monday morning, my daughter had had a temperature of 101-103 for 3 days and coughing and a sore throat. He told me she was "basically fine" and that whatever she had, it was a virus and it would "play itself out". I was surprised by this and told him I was sure there had to be something, as my daughter was wanting long naps and telling me it hurt when she swallowed, etc. He laughed it off, gave me mini-lecture on viruses and told me that she could go back to school the next day if she had no fever. I thought, well, hell, he's the doctor....ok. So we went home and her fever did go away and so I sent her to school the next day, even though she still had a sore throat...but it's the second week of school and she was dying to go back. On Tuesday, I called the doctor again and spoke to his nurse that assured me, that it was most likely still a virus and that if she still had a fever or sore throat by Friday, to give them a call. I was dubious, but hello, they are the professionals, right? By Wednesday, the sore throat persisted and she was starting to cry when she was swallowing...and she'd developed hives. Whoa... Took her to immediate care, where they were baffled as to how Dr. Beckerman had missed the redness of the throat and swollen glands. I mentioned that he didn't look at her throat and they shook their heads and suggested we talk to him about her having strep now. I get that doctors aren't God, of course not! But...Dr. Beckerman rushed through the appointment, didn't really listen to what a mother was trying to say...we are the best advocates for our children, and we know them best. He ignored my suggestions and essentially told me that he knew better. But he didn't. And my daughter was sick for two extra days because he was WRONG. And she exposed all the kids in her class and on the bus and guess what? Now *I* have strep and my husband will probably be next. Frustrating When I called him to talk about this, I thought I'd get empathy and consideration for what happened. Nope. Dr. Beckerman was defensive and talked over my comments. Even went as far as to say that I must not have said anything about her having a sore throat. I was agape at his rude tone and the fact that not once did he ask how she was and if she had improved. No...it was all about him and his repuation. Very sad. I told him that I fgured that we'd go elsewhere and he let me know that he was "fine with that" and hung up. Nice and gee, very professsional. We'll be on the hunt for a new pediatrician...Dr. Beckerman might be more suited to older kids, but I know that he won't be getting our business or the business of anyone who asks my opinion on finding a new pediatrician.

We did have a scheduling issue a while ago - needed an ultrasound to make sure baby was growing okay, and the secretary screwed up and scheduled it for the wrong day. I had to drive from work in Lockport, home to Glen Ellyn to pick up my husband, and then to Elgin - and she basically just said, "Oops I'm so sorry you can come back tomorrow". Needless to say, I was LIVID... Anyway, the location itself is fine. I don't know why people care about peeing in a paper cup vs. a plastic cup. It's not a big deal. And there's always lids. The other doctors are also great. I've seen most of them over the last couple of years. But like I said, Dr. Korzen is why we go back. She's easy to talk to, jokes around, and I feel very comfortable with her. She never makes me feel silly about any concerns I may have. My mom and sisters were with me when she delivered my son, and they were all so impressed with her! I just wish I could see her and deliver a bit closer to home lol. But for us, the distance is a small price to pay for how comfortable and happy we have been with her.

I am one they cut loose. I decided they don't deserve my silence. As every other negative review says, the office staff is rude and despondent. I called in August to set my annual well exam, and was told they had nothing available until December. 4 months!?When I check in, I'm called to the desk and rushed through some digital release forms to sign. One of which was the use of recording software the doctors now use to record your conversations in the room. The language was very vague- so I questioned if it involved AI. She confirmed it does. I declined the release. (AI software in medical practices, ESPECIALLY women's health should concern everyone, given the political climate and this country's squishy feelings on women's right to bodily autonomy.) Then, a woman escorted me to a room where she reviewed health history, asked me again about the AI tool, (declined again), and before she left, asked "Is there anything you wish to address with the doctor?" This is important, because it's a set up to change your "well exam" appointment to "concern" appointment. It's coded differently, and billed at a higher rate, so I later find out. I said yes, and disclosed my topic of discussion. 20+ minutes later, Doc rushed in, and I talk to her about a common topic I had been reading about my current lifestage as she was doing my exam. I wasn't asking for diagnosis- there was no special test or exam required, simply questioning route of treatment would be better suited for me in this milestone. We had a good, albeit rushed conversation... and after 4 years of trying to figure this out on my own, I finally felt validated and relief that I might start feeling more like myself again. On my way out, the lady at the desk was annoyed that I interrupted her conversation to check the pharmacy she had on file for me. A month later I'm sent a bill for a co-pay. My insurance has no co-pays for annual exams, so I sent a question in the portal, asking if it was mistakenly coded wrong. I was told the "discussions addressed in my appointment fell outside the parameters of a well exam visit." I challenged them on this. I scheduled it as a well exam, 4 months ago. My questions were 100% normal for my age. You mean to tell me that once you're done having babies, you're not allowed to ask ANY questions outside of paps and mammograms without an additional paywall? This is ageist, predatory, and unethical. There's no disclosure about this caveat. When I said my next step was google and yelp reviews if it was not corrected, they brought the doc into the conversation. She repeated the same explanation and signed off with "I believe a positive patient-physician relationship must be built on mutual trust, open communication, and respect.... Since verbalizing your unhappiness with our billing and coding procedures, I feel you would be a better fit in a different practice. Therefore, I am dismissing you from our practice." Not fully disclosing the use of AI nor informing me of my intended question falling outside a well exam visit were both violations of trust and communication... but because I'm not submissive or mindlessly compliant, I'm not a "good fit." As I reflected these last few weeks, it has become very clear to me that in addition to their billing procedures, their priority seems to lie in turning over as many rooms as they can in a day and making diagnoses and treatment recommendations that are not necessarily in your best interest, but theirs. I have more stories that I now see as missed red flags... bottom line, they don't care about you, only your money and mindless compliance. The messaging in their billing correspondence says "thank you for your business" not "thank you for entrusting us with your care." Says a lot. Find a smaller practice.
