I was fairly certain this wasn't really necessary since I never had these types of "issues" before with other trusted dentists (and hadn't ever even had cavities!). Just as the pandemic started, I tried switching to another dentist recommended nearby, but their equipment didn't seem adequately clean (splatters on the light above and the sunglasses they gave me--at the start of pandemic times no less, it was so gross!!!). So I super-researched dentists and was so happy to find Redmond Dental with stellar reviews and longstanding expertise. They took my insurance and also could help with my in-laws' dental needs which was such a relief too! As a patient of Dr. Tung, I really appreciate all the rigor she has placed on setting up a welcoming practice (including safety measures for COVID that have adjusted as needed and are as practical as possible for both patients and her staff). Dr. Tung is very personable, meticulous, and truly cares about making sure that you're satisfied with all aspects of your dental work, and I've experienced this with her staff as well. I've never felt unduly pressured during my regular cleanings for additional services, and when I think of how she's treated me, my husband, and my in-laws for all our dental needs, one word especially comes to mind: integrity. I have been driving all the way to Seattle for all my dental work from Debra Cederbaum. I'm now retired and continue to see her, despite the fact she's out of my insurance's coverage. I have referred others to her with consistently very happy results. I am an RN. Bedside manner, ability to listen, and provide the LEAST amount of pain possible, are important issues. I know they are a priority with Debra. And she and all her staff are intelligent, professional, and palpably reassuring and nice CONSISTENTLY for almost forty years now. However, they performed a periapical (diagnostic) X-ray instead of a preventive one, without informing me, and billed it. As a result, I was unexpectedly billed out-of-pocket. When I brought this up, the office manager insisted this is their standard practice, and that patients are responsible for charges insurance doesn't fully pay--even if the procedure wasn't clearly explained or authorized. They threatened to send the balance to collections. This experience reflects a serious lack of transparency and patient-centered care.

I was surprised this past year when I tried to schedule with Dr. Bikel that he was not available. Imagine my surprise to hear that Dr Bikel had moved to Wenatchee, Wa. I never received a letter to patients letting us know that Dr Bikel had left the practice. The lack of transparency was not professional. I remained a patient with the practice and was seen by the new dentist. During this time the wonderful office manager left and a new one came in. Since then, there has been very unprofessional handling of the front desk and patients. Especially difficult has been last minute changes to hygienists and no transparency that your hygienist has been changed. This lack of professionalism has caused me to leave the practice and find another dentist. I believe much of this change in policy has come from the parent company, Mosaic. Dentists establish trust with their patients. It is a part of the community in which we live. These incidents do not help to establish trust in the practice. I hope that you will consider changing some of your policies.
