I am in disbelief over some of the low reviews for Northwest Fence in Spokane Valley. I made a couple of calls over several months to ask about automatic gate openers, and Josh always took my calls and was so helpful in guiding me to purchase a Liftmaste gate opener instead of one of the cheaper brands. It was obvious that I was not going to purchase from them (they sold only high end equimpment)- yet he still spoke to me as if I were a paying customer on a couple of occasions. After purchasing a Liftmaster online from another company and installing it myself I ran into alot of problems. I needed local help and there did not seem to be anyone that had the expertise that Northwest Fence did with automatic gate openers. I called Josh and explained my problem, and to my surprise he had a gate expert at my Ranch the next day. He evaluated my installation, and spent almost an hour with me troubleshooting possible problems. They did not charge me for this visit, and honestly- MOST companies would charge for a service call. The expert that came out (who preferred to be un-named) was very kind, and sympathetic to the mess I had got myself into- got me on the right track to solving my problems. So, I dont know who the people writing low star reviews worked with, but the professionalism, kindness, and depth of knowledge exhibited by Northwest Fence, in my opinion was 6 stars. I hope for the chance to work with them in the future. If you are considering a fence or gate opener- I hope you will call them. He was on time, courteous, knowledgeable and quick to return his quote with a thorough pricing explanation. The installation crew of Dan, Dwayne and Nick were professional, on time, informative when answering my questions and very pleasant to work with. They worked together quite efficiently. My yard was cleaned up to the specs Dan discussed with me before they began. All first visits to my home were preceded by a friendly call the day before to verify the time and appointment. I don't know if NW Fence will be the cheapest bid but you definitely receive the best value. Value is always my goal and it isn't just a price. They provide quality products, fair pricing, the best warranty and are a long-standing local company. I have purchased a 4 ft chain link fence, with two 8 foot double gate gates. The quality of the material is better than Home Depot. I went with them because I would have people to ask questions as I do the project. I called to verify gate post spacing on the 8 foot gates. He checked my order, checked with the shop foreman and came back with 94 inches. I said 96 is 8 feet. Well this is what your gates are. Now after gate installation, the correct distance is 96 and so my hinges have to be turned at an angle for the gates to fit. Both my gates. My other complaint was the gates were manufactured at their shop on Sprague, and did not attach the caps. I discovered that they tried to place 3 aluminum caps on top that were very shiny, while the other 5 were the normal galvanized steel. Those caps would not pound on as I was instructed how to install them. I returned the aluminum caps and exchanged for galvanized, I told both the counterman and yard guy that someone lazy built my gate. $250 for each, and post caps are not attached? Quality of fence good, reliable information, BAD. I have also had them install a cedar fence a few years back. That experience was better than this one. But reviews are for current work, not reflecting on work done in the past. read more

They use much better products for vinyl than other brands and companies use, I live in a very windy area with a very big yard and every single one of my neighbors with vinyl fence have had their panels blown out and scattered through the neighborhood, some several times. Also some other companies ( big companies that I won't name) don't set their posts in concrete, Northwest Fence always does! There's a huge difference in quality between this company and others! We had NW Fence install a fence on our property about sixteen years ago. Over the years we had them come back out to fix wear and tear on the fence and there didn't seem to be a problem with their doing so. Fast forward to present day, I got off the phone with them yesterday and asked them to come out and give the fence a once over and to fix a section that was having problems with our neighbors tree. The individual on the phone said that they are no longer doing repairs on "wood" fencing, even though they are the ones that installed it. Nice to know that a company will not stand behind their own product. I'd suggest finding another company to install your fence, make sure that they will stand behind their work. read more

These guys build the best vinyl fences in the Spokane area, and they know what will hold up long term. Their fences cost more because they are better built, like heavy steel inserts inside the plastic gate posts..... However, their business is run badly. Billing is very messed up, promises were made, appointments were not met. One employee who was causing big problems has been terminated. I was grossly overcharged for a fence gate post replacement and the bill did not break down any of the seperate charges. When I talked to them, they were unwilling to lower it. If you want a quality fence, go with NW Fence. Just be sure to get a bid in WRITING BEFORE any subsequent repair or you may get screwed like me. I think they need to make major improvements in the way the business is run, and keep on building great fences. I am very happy with my fence, and not at all happy with the company. read more

NW Fence recently installed a vinyl privacy fence for us. Throughout the process they were professional, knowledgeable, and effective. They kept us apprised of their schedule so we could plan accordingly. I had a terrible experience with Northwest fence. They came to bid and saw that the purpose of the fence was to keep my teacup yorkie inside our front yard. After completely destroying our sprinkler system we had to delay installation which cost us $1200 to replace the system. They finished our fence while we were out of town and the slats are too wide where our dog can fit right through and the gates DO NOT touch the ground low enough to keep her in. The fence cost $4300 plus $1200 for sprinklers and then they wanted another $1400 to fix the slats!!! The absolute worst experience ever and there are no words to describe our awful experience. read more

We have not had any work done by Northwest Fence. We have an area a little over a block long to be fenced, with 2 gates included. We've used Idaho Fence before, so called them for an estimate and they came out right on time for the arraigned appointment time, spent a lot of time with us and gave us all the options. Since Northwest Fence is in the neighborhood we thought we'd ask them for a bid also. Very, very poor customer service, said he'd give us a guesstiment over the phone; wasn't interested in coming to our home, was generally uninterested in the job. I have nothing bad to say about Northwest Fence. I have been working with them for about 6 weeks now on design, layout, and materials package for my fencing project in north Spokane. They are knowledgeable, courteous, and will take their time explaining their product and how it differs from all the other vinyl fence companies out there. I picked up my fencing package last week 3/28/17 from their yard in the valley where it was loaded onto my trailer for me, drove it all back to my house and installed it over the last few days. I had to call and ask a few questions here and there, and Devin, Jacob and Zach were all very helpful. I'm pretty sure they know my name down there by now, but they were always friendly and were able to go the extra mile to help me figure everything out. I've had a overall very good experience and would have not problem recommending them to friends, family or my neighbors in the future! We moved to Spokane in June of 2018 and our first priority was a fence for our small dog, plus a privacy fence for part of the yard. We called three fence companies who came, measured, and never to heard from again. In October, after giving up on the others. An estimator for another project recommended NW Fence as someone who would show up, give a solid estimate, and finish the job in a professional manor. The response was quick, the wait time to get into their schedule put us toward the end of December, but the crew showed up, put up the fence according to their time frame, there were no additional costs, and the finished project was as expected or better. Additionally, the two man crew did this in miserable weather without complaint that we heard. We haven't been able to use it much since, because of the three feet of snow piled up, but it is pretty to look at. read more

Once again I don't write reviews online unless I get great service. I was turned on to these guys by a buddy who had them put in a fence a while back. His fence that was installed by Northwest Fence withstood the big windstorm, and still looked great where other fences did not. Kevin their salesman was awesome. He gave me detailed information on the products they offer, and the best way to instal the fence in my yard (very knowledgeable). There was nothing hidden and was very honest. I don't remember the installers names, but they also did a fantastic job! I could not be happier with the end result of my fence! The employees we were in contact with were courteous and prompt. This outfit is extremely unbusiness-like, rude, and deceitful. When calling to get details about a fence being built, no one seemed to know about the project, no paperwork could be found, and they hung up twice! I believe that the person on the phone was pretending to be the owner, because no business owner could really be so juvenile, or could they? They were not interested in zoning code violations saying that the customer is responsible. So if you need an illegal fence built, these are the guys to call, if you pay them they will do it. Then they'll take your money again when they have to come back and correct the illegal fence. I recently had a 6' vinyl fence installed by Northwest Fence. There was some miscommunication at the beginning and as a result I was not very happy with the installation. I called the company and within a couple of hours a field supervisor was at my residence to discuss the issue. Northwest Fence ended up pulling and resetting several posts and within about a 1 1/2 weeks they reinstalled the fence to my satisfaction at no additional cost to me. The only reason for the delay was that they needed to give the concrete a chance to dry for the new posts. I was very impressed with their willingness to accept responsibility for the mistake and how quickly they were able to resolve the situation. I am now very pleased with final result and highly recommend this company for any of your fencing needs. read more

Called the company to give me an estimate on replacing a corner of my fence where a car had collided with the fence due to snow. I was told that a someone would be out the next day to give me the estimate. A young man showed up, looked at the fence and told me that it would be about $1,000.00 to replace (very small area) and that they could not do anything until the spring. OK I get the time frame due to it being winter, but the price was just unacceptable! I then looked at Angies List and found someone who looked at the fence and quoted me $250.00 for parts, labor and could do it when the snow melted!! I later found out that NW fence makes there money from the State jobs it does. So now we all know where some of our tax dollars go! I will NEVER recommend North West Fencing! read more

I have mixed feelings. For the work that they did, it was good...caveat, they still haven't finished the job. I had an acre job, with three gates all installed with locks. They didn't bring the correct size lock mechanism for the sliding gate and said they would be back. That was over six months ago. What is disappointing is the ignoring of repeated emails, test messages and phone calls. As i read other reviews, it seems like a common theme. read more

I did business with NW fence for 25 years and will never use them again after this spring. We had a new fiberglass fence put in, they didn't show up when they said they would to set the posts, than they said they would be back in 5 days to put the fence in and they showed up in 3 days, when we weren't home! They set the fence up without us there even though it is in the contract that we are to be onsite. They didn't hook up all the top pieces and they had to come back out. Than, the capper was after we got the bill, we received a call telling us that it was the wrong amount and we owed more. We asked for a new copy and they sent out the same bill. We went down to pay what we owed and they pulled out there bill. It was the same amount so...that's what we paid. Now, we are getting phone calls with a screaming bookkeeper telling us she is going to take us to collections because we knew it was the wrong amount. Some how or other, nobody cares that we tried to pay the right amount! We wanted to be there when the fence was put in also. I can't believe a company that I have done business with for 25 years doesn't care how a customer is treated. Very sad read more
