I love their Brunswick stew. Their prices are not expensive at all! Their meats are always fresh and the store is always clean.

I'm not sure what in the world is going on at this Ingles. I cannot believe someone hasn't already…read moregotten seriously ill because of this store. I love that Ingles usually has stocked shelves and a wider variety of groceries than the only other store we have in Thomaston (Walmart), but I had to make the hard decision to stop shopping there after this week's experience. About six months or so ago, I grabbed a dairy product and just happened to look at the expiration date, which I usually don't do. To my surprise, it was expired. I wrote it off to just a rare oversight. Unfortunately, I have found many more expired products each of the last three visits I've made there. I made mention of it to my daughter who was visiting, warning her to look at the dates before throwing stuff in the cart. We both forgot and made it halfway through the store when I remembered we hadn't been checking. Sure enough, we went through the cart and had to pull out product after product of expired food - hot dogs, deli food, cheese, yogurt, and bacon, to name a few. One of the things I did buy was a pickled food product. I got home and untwisted the top. The safety paper on the jar itself that you have to peel off before use just lifted up as if it wasn't sealed down. To my horror, right on top was a black discoloration on the paper and on top of the food itself. Ruined. I also bought a container of Ingles brand milk that wasn't supposed to expire for another two weeks or so. Today, with two days left before expiration, I went to use it and found it to already be souring. Most of us know that food is usually still good at least a week after the date listed, but this one was already going bad two days before the date even arrived. I am sad to say that I will have to either settle for Walmart or drive 45 minutes to Griffin just to get some food. With the high prices at Ingles, I expect SO much more from them. Bad form, guys.

I just had the worst experience at the Ingles in Thomaston. I stood at the deli to purchase some…read morechicken salad and broccoli salad. After 5 minutes and three people behind the counter walking by me (without acknowledging me), a young man finally looked at me and at least there was eye contact. A young lady was cleaning the meat cutter looked at me and I asked if she was going to assist me. She replied "do you want me to cut your meat before I clean this up?" This was with an attitude. I replied (and I had attitude at that point) "if you would acknowledge me, you would know I am not ordering meat. I am standing in front of the salads." She still continued to clean the meat cutter, so I left. My Monday routine is to shop for food for the week during my lunch hour. No more, I will go somewhere else where I am appreciated as a customer.
