The feeling was all too familiar as I had sprained my ankle over a decade ago on NYE. For the first few days I figured I would be fine and tough it out on my own. I eventually came to Endeavor Health/NorthShore hospital in Skokie and visited their Ortho Immediate Care unit. I wanted to make sure it was just a sprain and nothing more. I arrived as a walk-in on a weeknight sans appointment and met with Dr. McCracken soon after checking in. He ordered an x-ray and within minutes after the x-ray, he was able to read and go over the results with me. Thankfully he found no visible breaks in bone, wrote up a doctors note for work and placed me on an ankle brace for a couple of weeks until my ankle fully healed. It's been a month since my injury and I'm happy to report that I am near to full function! I'm able to walk with no issue and have made progress. I've started to go back to the gym with the hopes that in a few weeks I'll be run ready. I'm so glad the Endeavor Health/NorthShore Immediate Care Ortho facility saw me during a weeknight. There's not many Ortho Immediate Care facilities I'm aware of and with this location less than 20 minutes away, this was super convenient.

My experience at the clinic was bad experience in the "Elterman Center for Women's and Men's Health, Skokie, IL" Very Rude Staff, Horrible Staff at the "Elterman Center for Women's and Men's Health, Skokie, IL" as I went to inquire with the receptionist, and although they had no clients waiting at the receptionist desk, I was made to wait excess of 45 minutes to simply talk with the receptionist. Ella who claimed to be the Manager of the Clinic, was Very Rude and Was Not Professional at At All!!(not sure about the receptionist's name spelling). The Skokie IL Clinic Manager (or so she claimed to be the manager), told me: "There are many Urologists around and go find another Urologist!!!!". This encounter took place at the "Elterman Center for Women's and Men's Health, Skokie, IL". Apparently, the Staff at the clinic "Elterman Center for Women's and Men's Health, Skokie, IL" does not really care about their clients as they feel they have enough customer/patient flow to feel they do not need to maintain positive relationship with their customers or patients. I do not recommend the "Elterman Center for Women's and Men's Health, Skokie, IL". The clinic is clouded with patients at the front. I am not sure this is within the "Health Code" for occupancy limits.

I came from a gynecological oncology office where communication and education were not a priority…read more I felt like I was on an assembly line and any time I asked a question, I felt like a nuisance. I decided to go to the Block Center after I had a bad experience with my first round of chemo and no one from my previous office called me back for days to tell me the new plan. I was afraid and overwhelmed. When I contacted the Block Center, I spoke with my patient advocate, Sherry, daily for the first week while we were getting my appointments scheduled. She was right there for any questions I had. When it came to my insurance questions, Jenny Sue was on it. They never once missed a call and left me hanging and confused. When I got to speak with the doctors and dietician, they laid out a wonderful comprehensive plan for my care. It was tailored to me and full of little details so I didn't have to hunt for them on my own. Whereas my previous oncologist sent me home with no information, the Block Center sent me a packet of over 100 pages to make chemo treatments the most effective. Dr. Nimmagadda, the oncologist, was thorough and asked details such as, "Were you interested in egg harvesting?" and "Would you like to try a cold cap to potentially save your hair?" Danielle, the dietician took the time to explain the reasoning behind certain dietary changes. Penny Block encouraged me and made me feel as if I might not only live through this but thrive. Due to covid, the appointments were virtual until I began treatment and no one was allowed in with me. Some people might not like that. I am grateful for it. Once I started treatment, though, I worried that I might have a reaction while no one was with me. My nurse, Julie, sensed my fears and pulled up a chair to chat with me while I started the drip until she knew I was okay. I knew that if there was a reaction she was right there. It meant more to me that she'll probably ever know. This weekend, I had a local lab send my results which I was unsure about. It's a holiday, and I felt stupid calling the doctor on-call because I would have been brushed off by my previous doctor. However, Dr. Block called me back and assured me that it was okay that I had called. He chatted with me about the results like I was a family member. Each and every person at this clinic has treated me like a human being- with dignity and respect. I don't know what will happen to me as far as my treatment or prognosis. It can be really scary, but I honestly feel as if I have a whole team of people who legitimately care and want me to get better. I would recommend the Block Center to anyone. I can't even express my gratitude to them.

I received a text the day before from the office. I called to remind them that when I booked the appointment I had made it known that I didn't want to be texted so they texted me again. I showed up for my appointment and wanted to make sure that it would not happen again and the woman behind the desk was rude to me and only cared about getting my insurance card and driver's license. I did not want to proceed without first straightening out the texting issue and other privacy concerns. I had brought a list of 5 concerns about privacy to go over with the doctor first and this pissed her off even more. Then she wanted my insurance card and driver's license. I had a really bad feeling at this point and let her know I was not comfortable with the way things were going and I was leaving and not coming back and left. As I was driving home Dr. Edelstein called me to tell me off and to tell me to find another doctor. He was not smart enough to understand that when I said I was leaving and not coming back that I had already permanently ended things with his office. A little advice for the Doctor and his office - treat the person who is paying you with respect and put up with things like a no texting rule or plan to go out of business.
