I stopped by Northridge Park over the weekend for a nice morning walk. I found parking easily because I came before noon. The park was already having some kind of event near the kids playground. There was also a kid soccer game going on too. I saw people were playing basketball at the court, tennis in the tennis court and other people were just walking their dog. This park has a pool as well but I think it was closed because the pool was drained. This is a nice big and relaxing park in Northridge. read more

Our first time registering for soccer and Northridge Recreation Center is SO DISAPPOINTING AND DISORGANIZED!! THEY HAVE THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! We signed up our son for Northridge spring soccer league. The soccer game started last Saturday 4/4. However, after attending the soccer evaluations early last month, we never heard from a coach and do not know who his coach is, what team he is on or when the games are scheduled. We tried emailing Jason Gianni twice for this information, but never received a response. My husband called the rec center and all they can provide is the email to Dwayne Finley, the Senior Recreation Director. We emailed him twice and we still haven't heard from him. I called Northridge Rec Center three times today and no one answers. At this point, with their lack of care and consideration, we want a refund. And trying to get our money back has been so frustrating!! They rob my son of the opportunity to play soccer then they literally rob us! Be warned if you sign up for any of their leagues. read more

I like the gym, it is clean, the floor is well maintained and shiny, the a/c is cold and good for summer, a lot of parking spaces and its a a nice residential area. The only thing I noticed is that, they need to improve the lighting in this gym. Compared to other recreation centers we've been like Winnetka, Victory-Vineland & Mason, this gym is kinda dark inside especially if you are seated in the corners. The vibe feels different. They are also still using yellow lights, rather than white or LED LIGHTS. If they add or improve their lightings in the gym, it will look and feel different like more inviting and not lively. But overall it ia a really nice gym and glas they offer winter and summer basketball league here. read more

Awful office staff, Especially Dwayne and Jonathan. Hey folks, this park cheats at their organized sports. The teams are hand picked on favoritism and not even close to being equally balanced on skills. Children that play, are also older than what is allowed for the division, this is all to benefit the parks hand picked team and no birth certificate is checked. If your child gets on a team with the park employees coaching- your team will win based on cheating and in house betting. If your child gets on a team with a volunteer coach who is not favored by the park employees- your team will lose. The office staff pay off the refs to bend the rules to favor their park team and their preferred hand picked team. There is in house betting ring. The park employees also make up rules as they please when questioned and bully up to keep you quiet. Oh parents, especially women, if you are out spoken or speak up, Dwayne and Jonathan will try to verbally slam and criticize you, Dwayne and Jonathan are sexist against women. read more

I love this park! I had 2 of my children attend this past summer camp. The counselors we're so kind to all of the campers, I could tell how much they cared and loved each one. Paige ( the camp director) was SO helpful and she went above and beyond to help make the summer enjoyable for everyone. My child's counselor had such a positive attitude every morning. RED GROUP WAS AWESOME! I loved seeing the camps thing they called spirit stick!! We will definitely be back next summer ! read more

I like playing basketball at the indoor basketball court here. I work nearby so I play with co-workers once a week during our lunch hour (except during the summer when it's reserved for kid camps and other events). We do have to pay monthly for the reservation but it's worth it since there usually isn't an open gym. Anyways, the gym is pretty well maintained and it's built like a carbon copy of other gyms in the valley like at Mason park. FYI, from the park website: Auditorium, barbecue pits, baseball diamond (lighted), basketball courts (lighted/indoor), basketball courts (lighted/outdoor), childrens play area, community room, indoor gym (without weights), picnic tables, seasonal pool (outdoor/heated), soccer field (lighted), tennis courts (lighted). p.s. don't speed on Lemarsh St... always cop cars driving around because of the nearby police station read more

I am going to have to give this park one star. I'd give it zero if I could. BAD MANAGEMENT! PLEASE DO NOT HAVE YOUR CHILDREN PLAY SPORTS HERE. First things first the entire field and area that the kids are supposed to play in has pot holes and barley any grass. How do they expect kids to play soccer and sports in the dirt? Not to mention how disorganized everything is here. Picture day is all over the place along with this weird opening ceremony. The kids aren't even allowed to pick their own team names where other places you are allowed to. I thought this was AYSO until l recently I realized it's parks and rec. I had a bad experience with a coach who was crazy and quite frankly just ghetto trying to get violent, and even though several parents made complaints against this same coach previously nothing was done. I am not sure who is in charge here or why they are in charge when they do not do their job. There are zero policies or protocols that are set in place or enforced. A coach is supposed to be someone the kids can look up to, not some crazy aggressive person. The refs are not trained properly and do not know what they are doing. This girl ref is always lost and confused and can't even make decent calls. I heard Mason park has AYSO and that's definitely where my son will be playing from now on. The new director sucks, the old director was much better with keeping up with the park and being in charge of the sports. There are homeless people that sleep and pee in the park it's just nasty. I grew up here and have been coming here since I was a kid but wow have I seen this park change for the worst! It's sad that this is what our tax dollars get us. This park needs someone who cares because the man in charge is lazy and clearly does not. read more

After picking up our order from Furai Chicken Northridge, we decided to try and eat here since it's close by. As we approached the picnic tables with a few homeless folk in the background we came upon absolutely filthy tables covered in bird shit and what appeared to be blood. Maybe BBQ sauce but who really knows. Hey Parks and Rec's person who works here- How about hosing down these disgusting tables so couples, families with children and just regular people can enjoy eating in the park? Someone is clearly not doing their job. The wife quickly declared "OH HELL NO!" and we packed up and set our sights on proper picnic grounds. I grew up coming to this park as a kid. basketball parents beware when you register your kids ask the people on charge if they verify all kids ages and if they place them in the teams based on their ages because during the last season there were 10 year olds playing against 12 and 13 year olds, I don't think is fair. let's make this experience fair for all the kids. read more

Really nice park. Try and get there early because it can get a little crazy with kids running everywhere. I wish there was more shade on the smaller playground, but there is shade under the trees that are close by. The parking lot can get a little full. read more

Been trying to get into tennis lately and this park has four tennis courts to practice! It's a beautiful, spacious park with a lush amount of trees and space to run around! There's also a basketball court here located in the back of the park with the tennis courts! It's always pretty quiet here, the only problem is sometimes waiting for a court to free up but that's about it. read more

This is a park to take the family. It is a big park compared to other parks around the valley. They have Baseball field, Basketball Courts, Tennis Courts, Open Space for Football or Soccer Games. Plenty of Trees and shade. Parking off Reseda Blvd or off Lemarsh with plenty of parking. The only drawback is the park is right by these huge transformers. So I dont like going there. I would recommend this park for football or soccer games. I do believe they have organized flag football games on sundays read more

For parties or classes I believe you have to reserve with the office that's near Lemarsh St. There are lots of trees for shade. There are tennis courts, basketball courts (indoor and outdoor), a place to play volley ball but it never has a net and lots of ample free space of grasslands. There are gym bars and a new playground to both sides of the bball court. But there are a lot of gopher holes though. For inquiries about the pre-k and camp programs for kids go to the lower office located near the playground. I worked here for many years as a camp counselor and preschool teacher and they do have wonderful programs for preschool and camps. It might seem biased but it really is a great experience for kids, volunteers, and those who want to work with kids. To use the pool from what I remember it's free if you have a library card and $2 if you don't. Kids in camp have a schedule to swim here too. read more

This review is for the summer camp program, parents beware, that this place is disgusting, My first complaint was Paige the head of this program sits inside a dark room and avoids the parents. Second, they have 13-year old's probably working for free overlooking the kids. I enrolled my 8-year-old, and every day she went she would come home unhappy. This program has the kids doing nothing, where is the camp experience? They went on a field trip and initially, they said no lunch was needed on this day, to please buy your child a visa card so that they can buy food, last min all of the flyers provided said the children must bring a lunch, and the visa card was not even used, Only God knows why the children didn't use it and what kind of snack they had when my child eat everything I packed. Overall this camp should be shut down, there was no checking of temperature once when I checked in, the kids are literally fending for themselves. My child "the so-called counselor" arrived late every day while my child waited around to get acknowledged, I guarantee you they probably never learned her name let alone teach them anything. I'm going to look into getting my money back because out of 5 days I paid my child only went 3 days because in my heart this place was just horrible and I was afraid for her. I have pictures of how the children sat on the floor waiting to do something, while the counselors drank Starbucks, this place really should be ashamed of themselves. read more

We love the play apparatus at this park, with the little tree house structure at the top of one of the tube slides. We were sad to see it was chained off today (6/25/2021). Hope it gets fixed soon. This is a great place to go play some leisurely tennis with some friends! I've come here a couple times, and there's always a free court. People are really nice here unlike a few other parks with some real snobby tennis "stars". The outdoor basketball court needs A LOT of work. The asphalt's the roughest I've seen and there's bumps all over the place. I literally play anywhere, but if there's people, I'm even more up for it. Northridge Park has some ballers here every now and then. But usually they're more talk than anything. Also, they got lots of area to do your routine workout or even a nice jog. I've seen people come regularly to play some rugby as well! Can't find that at most places and they're usually up to adding more people if you ask. read more

Nice quiet park, there are some bums hanging around, so be mindful.It has nice big trees, and is very peaceful. Came tonight around 7 PM, after dinner. Was nice to get away from traffic, and let my buzz from the margaritas wear off! They had some people playing softball, and a lot of people walking their dogs. Look out for the dog shit everywhere! Kamp Kaleidoscope at Northridge Park is a great place for your kids, 3, 4, or 5 days a week for afterschool or Winter, Spring, and Summer breaks! My child gets much needed exercise, outdoor play, and social interaction instead of sitting around eating junk and looking at a screen all day. She comes home everyday happy, and tired, because she got fresh air, sunshine, and makes new friends, instead of video gaming all day. The staff is so Awesome, and good with kids. Kristen is so sweet with the kids, and always thinking of ways to make the day Camp fun and positive for our children. My child loves all the Camp Counselors there! It's worth every penny! read more

Indoor basketball gym is pretty decent. At least they blast the AC here so it doesn't get all smelly with all the players sweating. Place is cleaned indoors and out. Nice & friendly staff. The referees for the mighty mites basketball league are also friendly and very patient with the kids. read more

Best park in the Valley. Basketball courts can be full or not. The weather is great here. It can get hot, but never as high as the other parks. They got a great playground set for the kids. The bars for working out and rings for swinging is great. There is a good community of bar brothers that are courteous. This place has a wide open field to play ball. Although, I do warn that the middle of the field across from the basketball court near the tree with dirt and no grass on it to never take off your shoes. Last time, my friend had sandals, and he stepped on a nail. Luckily, the sandals were pierced, but he was fine. read more

My daughter has been attending Kamp Kaleidoscope at Northridge Recreation Center for 4 school years. This is a city of Los Angeles after school and summer camp program that also offers daycare over winter break and spring break. They do pick up children from nearby elementary and middle schools. Dovetailed to school days/holidays so very convenient and helpful to working parents. For the comprehensive, quality services that it provides, this program is very reasonably priced and I highly recommend it. My daughter has gained lasting friendships and many happy memories here; she loves it and even wants to become a camp counselor when she's old enough! Most importantly, as a mom I always feel that she is safe here. Beside all this, I want to add that the staff here, from CIT to counselors to assistant director and director, are very professional, very patient and very understanding to the needs of families. They were particularly attentive and helpful to me as a single parent without a reliable co-parent. I am truly grateful to all staff members at the camp. Also, a special shout out to Cynthia, Andrea (aka Pinky), Blossom and Rizzo. You are super sweet and super awesome! A big THANK YOU for everything that you do every day for the kids, especially when it's 100 degrees outside!!! read more

I signed my daughter up for their spring girl ballet class. It started April 19th and for the first 2 weeks, the teacher did not show up. Both weeks when we came, they would call the teacher who was supposed to teach the class and leave her a message and she would never call them back. I had to suggest they find a replacement teacher rather than them just cancelling the class and giving us our money back. Finally by the 3rd week of class they found a replacement teacher and my daughter was able to take the class. The teacher, ms molli, was fantastic and really has a lot of experience with teaching dance. They are also going to extend the class to make up for the 2 weeks that we missed because of the awol teacher. I am hopeful for this course and I may update depending on how this next 7 weeks go. read more

I'm extremely partial to this park. I love it. I used to play tennis here every single day and pick up basketball games. It's a kick ass park and it has a big slide and a big hill, but it's right near a police station, so no funny business unless you love to go to the San Fernando Courthouse. I do not live near this area anymore, but no doubt about it, I would be there ASAP if someone was down to play tennis. I had courts at my house right across the street directly, but I loved playing here because I would meet the coolest people all the time and the vibe is right. read more

I've been attending and hosting events here for the past 5 years now. From hosting college club picnics/bbq's at the tables and bbq pits, mini sports games in the grass, to attending the wonderful Northridge Hawaiian Festival, this park has always been a great place to congregate. Okay, first off, is there seriously a picture of a dead rat posted for this park? Northridge Park is fine, not dirty or scary, and I've never seen any rats. There's a lot of parking, space, and things to do. The recreational center has a lot of programs. They have a big fair with rides at the beginning of the summer and I've even seen them show movies on one of those big, inflatable projector screens. read more

I would like to say Camp Kaleidoscope has great activities and counselors who have given confidence and great social skills to my daughter who struggle with engaging with others. She has been there for 4 summers and always looks forward to returning in the summer!! The Camp coordinator Rizzo is amazing with her great team of counselors.
