Communication was horrible - they didn't do the work because I was asking too many questions…read moreapparently. Car doesn't stay running after it starts, we get it towed to Empeys. They said the battery was dead and they couldn't do any further testing without a new battery. They send me an invoice with several parts that needed to be replaced. I was confused so asked for clarification-- on one hand, they said they haven't done any testing at all, on the other, they wanted to replace several parts - total bill $2300. I ask and they reiterate that they need to replace the battery to do the testing. At the same time, they admit that they aren't sure if all those parts need to be replaced, but still asked for me to approve the work. I authorize the battery change and testing on their online app assuming that they'd replace the battery and we could continue with the testing... I did NOT approve the part replacements because they made it very clear that they weren't sure what needed to be replaced. A week later, I've heard nothing, so I text them back. They closed the ticket because I wasn't a good fit for them -- I guess asking questions about your vehicle is too much for these guys to handle. End result - we've been without a car for a week. Texts included.

They worked on two of my vehicles last year. The first was a full transmission replacement. They…read morewalked me through my options and gave me a quote for the replacement. Less than a week later they had the vehicle up and running and for less than the original estimate. The second was a repair job. After quoting the job to replace an assembly of solenoids , I got a call back and was told that the transmission was different than what the book showed and that they'd be able to replace the faulty solenoid instead of the whole assembly for less than what they had originally quoted, but I was also informed that it might be the computer instead. The error codes were inconclusive. We proceeded with the repair, but 4 weeks later had the same problem. Took it in and they replaced the computer and it is running fine. They stood behind their work and didn't bicker with me after I brought the car back in. They just took care of the problem. Two days later I was on the road again. They were very straight forward and honest about the costs and options available. I had gotten quotes from a lot of shops on the first vehicle, and they were right in line with the other quotes. Furthermore, when it was all said and done, the total cost was less than any of the other quotes I had received. They've earned my trust and my future business.

Then I just got to filing the paperwork and noticed (my mistake for not paying attention at the time - we paid with a cc over the phone and the paperwork was finished by the time my husband picked it up) that he charged me $ 100 for towing. He never had to tow the van, we drove it in each time it was in the shop. Please DO NOT EVER USE THIS PLACE! They are a rip off and the issue will never be resolved.

Warning: When you are trying to find them the name on the building is different and there is no parking. Actually, I was surprised about how junky and disorganized the whole place was. I have been in lots of shops, my dad was a mechanic, but this place looks like a junk yard. So, I dropped the car off for them to look at and they said it would take an hour or so and would call me when I could pick it up. I never heard from them so the next morning I called and they said "Oh, yeah. We have to order the parts. It will take two days so come get it. Sorry we didn't call. It was busy." I picked it up and they said they would call when the parts were in, it wouldn't be more than 2 business days. I called them 4 days later. The "boss" was out and the guy who answered the phone had no idea, but said he would call me right back. I called again 3 days later (it had now been a full week). The "boss" was now on vacation and no one knew anything. I would have to wait until he was back. That would be another week. I waited another week and was told the parts had been ordered and it would be two days (sound familiar?). I received a call 4 days later saying the parts were in, but they were too busy and couldn't work on the car until Monday. Monday made it 3 weeks since my first contact with them. I dropped off the car again and they said they would call when it was done and it shouldn't take the whole day. 7 hours later I called back to find out if I could pick it up at all, because shockingly, they hadn't called me. Again, the "boss" was out and they thought it had been done for a while, but they weren't sure. I asked what the total bill was and was told "oh, the boss left that blank". I finally got a call back an hour and a half later. The price we had agreed on was significantly higher. Of course, there was nothing I could do. I would never never use this place. They are a mess and they have absolutely no customer service skills, not to mention organization or follow through. Beware!!!

My car had been making an awful whining sound for the last several months. Took a drive half way down the block to figure out that the driver side wheel bearing was bad. Told us to bring it in Monday morning and they would make it first priority since its our only vehicle. The day that they fixed my car, they called me to tell me that they noticed that the tie rod end was in awful shape, and asked if I wanted it fixed. Of course I said yes. All in all, repairs took five hours total. They didn't price gouge me. They didn't overcharge. They know what they're doing, I will recommend them to anyone. They've rebuilt a 4Runner rear differential that a different local shop botched, and they've installed several CV axles, also in 4Runners. As a loyal Toyota owner for almost 40 years, I've learned to use only OEM Toyota parts, which I purchase from authorized dealers. WT is the only shop in Idaho Falls that I can find that will install these parts. So I use WT exclusively for driveline work (which is all they do). Prices are reasonable, and the work is done well. Randy, the knowledgeable fellow at the front desk, understands the OEM part issue I face as a Toyota owner, and has been accommodating. Western Transmission has been better than any dealership shop I've used in four decades.
