I happily joined to live vicariously through her life successes. And damn! I was blown away by how many beautiful fixtures there are! There was so much that was beyond my imagination. There were modern, vintage, mid-century, and luxury lights. Our style is mid-century modern, and we picked out a few that fit that aesthetic. Though, I would say there were just a few lights in the style. They were also somewhat limited on lighted overhead fan choices. But the best part was the customer service. We were able to build a "wish list" with an associate, where every item that piqued our interested was populated under her new account. There, you can review all of the details and customizations (like color, type of lighting, finish etc). There also seemed to be a lot on sale which was a treat!

I had an art deco lamp (see photo) which I rescued from being thrown out at my office many years…read moreago. The lamp has served me on my home office desk but recently the switch failed. I thought about fixing it myself but decided to hire a pro. Finding a place which restores old lamps which also had good reviews required some research but with the assistance of Yelp. I finally zeroed in on Lightworks. They did an excellent job of restoring my lamp. In addition to replacing the switch they also replaced the cord. They even found a plug which is appropriate to the era (see picture). They are not easy to find. They are located at the back of a rather large building with several tenants. Go north on 14 th Street from East Hennepin about 3 blocks until you reach Winter Street. Keep going straight across Winter on 14 th. It dead ends after about a block and Lightworks is on the left. In addition to repairs they have a nice selection of light fixtures which are restored originals or replicate vintage fixtures. Great if you have an older home. I highly recommend.

I imagined extremely expensive fixtures with no discernable difference from the Big Box stores in quality. Well, I was wrong. From a price standpoint, some fixtures are only slightly more expensive than big boxes. However, the quality of the product and the customer service more than make up for it. We got exactly what we wanted for our project and could not feel better about the decision.

One fixture failed after a number of years and they replaced it without question. When there was a problem with the replacement fixture years thereafter they again replaced it without question. His Friendliness and knowledge of the store was amazing. He helped load my doors and pushed them up front to the Pro center while I finished getting the rest of my list filled. Then he met me in Lumber and helped locate a qualified operator to cut a 4x8 sheet for me and helped the operator cut and load the 2 pieces on my cart. He then helped push my cart to the PRO Cashier and assisted the cashier with applying my MILITARY Discount. Then unbelievably, MASON pushed my cart with 2 doors and other supplies to the loading zone and waited there while I retrieved my vehicle from the front parking area. MASON recruited two other HD EMPLOYEES to assist him and I and proceeded to direct and load my Explorer in a very careful manner. The last three times I've been to Home Depot it was to look at their indoor plants. I've been…read morewanting to add to the plants I have and was looking for something different than what I had. I have been very happy each time I went to Home Depot - the selection was good, checkout was easy (self-checkout), the sales assistants were very helpful and came over right away to check on me to make sure any I wasn't having any difficulties with the check-out process. I especially have enjoyed their sales on succulents as well as their end-of-season sale where I got some excellent deals on plants. The only things I'd recommend are to expand the houseplant section, get a wider variety of plants, and do not offer artificially-dyed plants (e.g., blue or purple plants).
