The hostess told us if Greg was ok with squeezing us in for food we could do it, and he made it work. They gave us a seat by the live music. We ordered their margherita pizza, lamb burger, and blueberry cheesecake. I'm at a loss for words on how to describe how incredible each dish was. I lived in Maine for a summer 10 years ago. I already know the food scene here is incredible. But this was next level. The pizza was everything I dream for in a Neapolitan pizza. The sauce was delicious and the crust, perfection. We couldn't get over how much we adored the corn. And the lamb burger was great!! My favorite dish was the cheesecake and the way it melted in my mouth. Wow I wish I was there right now. Amy and Dick, the owners, are two of the kindest people I've ever met. I've truly never felt so welcomed and accommodated somewhere. Camping here is a peaceful, serene oasis, and is what every person deserves (especially amongst covid, when most people need a socially distanced escape). Pitching a tent with horses, cows, a donkey, and a goose 2 feet in front of me felt magical. They loved being fed fruits and veggies from my hand, and I was even so close I was able to feed them from my tent when it was raining. The other side of the farm with the barn has pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits, a mini pond with ducks, and even a little kayak you can paddle around with. It's so beautiful and peaceful to walk around the massive farm, petting the little cuties along the way. The sunrise is gorgeous from here and is quite the treat to wake up to. My experience here has been so peaceful and wonderful that I've already extended it twice! Come for the fresh picked eggs and delicious meat, and stay for the truly amazing camping experience with the nicest hosts ever.

Problem solved with the Maine State Museum. It does not look from the outside that this might be a hidden gem, but it certainly was. From the old train to the operational mill tucked through several floors inside, you really get a sense of how things were working back in the day. Overall, the museum is not the fanciest around and might be a little dated, but if you take the time to read the displays and walk the whole museum, you will come away being glad you made the stop.

But it's much more than an art gallery. Owners Brian and Stephanie also offer community classes and workshops so that people can find their inner artist / glass nerd and let them roam free! I do not think of myself as a very handy or crafty or artistic person, but I recently had the pleasure of taking a workshop to make "scrappy birds:" stained glass birds that are made out of scraps of glass. I went with my partner, who has been making stained glass art for a number of years (I have never done it before). We both had a good time and learned new stuff! Heather, the teacher, was approachable, knowledgeable and friendly. I learned how to wrap the glass in copper foil, use a soldering iron and attach little legs and a tail to my scrappy birds. Heather took something that had seemed difficult and out of reach and made it understandable. Best of all, I got to take home my glass art birds and hang them in the window, where they catch the light and make me smile. This was a great way to while away a cold and snowy winter night! I'm excited to take more classes there. Perhaps I am crafty after all. :)
