I was in a gift shop in John O Groats and mentioned to my partner that I was feeling quite hungry, the woman behind the counter must have over heard because she mentioned heading to this place. After a couple of minutes we had the directions and set off.
The hotel was only 5 miles away along the A836 in a lovely little village called Dunnet.
The hotel is a small family run business and on entering the premises we were greeted with a hearty welcome.
We were given the choice of sitting in the more formal dining room or the lounge bar, the dining room was well laid out and very spacious but we decided to sit in the more cosy surroundings of the lounge.
The menu had a varied selection and contained produce from the local area. Just reading the menu made my mouth water and when the meal arrived it was beautiful and I savoured every mouthful. After the meal some of the locals and staff were giving us little fact about the area it was superb.
From what I could see of the rooms they looked to be good standard rooms (9 in all) all en-suite
A very friendly and hospitable place we didn't stay this time but their business card was swiftly placed in the wallet for the next time.
Ideal to use as a base if you're into out door pursuits because there's lots to do within the area read more
