Specialties
Northern Frontier Camp is a Christian boys camp in the Adirondack Mountains focused on building strong men through adventure, brotherhood, and faith. We are not a resort camp and we are not a drop-off babysitting service. We are intentional about who we are and why we exist.
What makes us different is our long-term vision. Boys don’t just come for one summer. They grow with us through age-based programs, return year after year, and are mentored by men who know them by name. Many of our counselors were once campers themselves. That continuity matters.
Our setting matters too. Northern Frontier is remote, rugged, and beautiful. The wilderness strips away distractions and creates space for real growth. Days are filled with hands-on outdoor skills, challenges that build confidence, and real fun. Evenings are centered on campfires, honest conversation, and clear, age-appropriate teaching from the Bible.
We care deeply about safety, structure, and character. Our staff are trained, present, and invested. We emphasize responsibility, respect, resilience, and service. Boys are treated like young men in the making, not customers to be entertained.
Parents choose Northern Frontier because they want more than a fun week. They want their sons to grow in character, faith, and leadership. Many families return for generations because they see lasting fruit.
History
Established in 1946.
Northern Frontier Camp was founded in 1946 with a clear mission: to shape boys into godly men through life outdoors, strong mentorship, and a commitment to Jesus Christ. From the beginning, the camp was built by men who believed the wilderness was not an escape from faith, but a place where faith could be tested, formed, and made personal.
What started as a small summer camp in the Adirondack Mountains has grown into a multi-generation ministry. Cabins, programs, and traditions have expanded over the decades, but the heart has stayed the same. Boys come to learn skills, face challenges, and be guided by older men who model integrity, responsibility, and servant leadership.
Northern Frontier has never chased trends or tried to be everything to everyone. We have stayed focused on our calling, trusting that steady faithfulness matters more than flash. Today, many former campers return as counselors, leaders, fathers, and supporters. That legacy is the story we’re most proud of.
Meet the Manager: Peter W.
I joined Northern Frontier Camp because it shaped my life long before it became my job. I was a camper here as a boy, and those summers left a deep mark. I was challenged, known, pushed, and cared for by men who took their faith seriously. It was real, and it stuck.
After seminary, I didn’t set out to work at camp. I planned to serve elsewhere. But God had other plans, and I was invited back into a place that had already helped form who I was becoming as a man. Stepping into leadership at Northern Frontier felt less like starting something new and more like continuing a calling that had already begun.
What inspires me to stay is watching the same transformation happen in the next generation. Boys arrive unsure, distracted, and untested. Over time, they grow in confidence, character, and faith. Many return as staff, leaders, and fathers themselves.
Northern Frontier isn’t just a job to me. It’s a mission, a legacy, and a responsibility I carry with gratitude and conviction.
