I've never used Uber or Lyft and really don't want to... heard a few horror stories and I watch a lot of Law & Order. :) I hadn't taken a taxi in over a decade either but I got on Yelp to see if I could find a good one. All Star Taxi had about 20 reviews and all were 5 star. Soooo.. I called them up and reserved a taxi to pick me up on the day of my departure at 0830. Easy peasy. Well... good ol' DC traffic had me running late that morning. Called them en route and asked if I could bump up the pick up time to 0845. I got there about 0835 and the taxi was there about 5 minutes later (5 minutes earlier than the new requested pick up time). It was nearly a month ago, but I believe the driver's name was Chris. Chris loaded all my luggage for me and had a great personality. He was polite, funny, and easy to have a normal, not forced, conversation. I was leaving for 3.5 weeks so I brought my bananas from home thinking I could find someone who would eat them rather than throwing them out or letting them rot while I was gone. Turns out, he loves bananas! :) Fortunately, for me, his service was stellar... anything but bananas. Many thanks!!! I highly recommend All Star Taxi!

The driver followed me until my next stop and then accosted and threatened me. When I told the driver I would report him, he stated "I run this shit," and then drove away (through a red light). After that encounter, I'll never grab a ride with this company again. Just another reason for me to dislike cab companies in general. (Update) After posting my review, a member of the administrative staff reached out to me in an effort to correct the incident mentioned above. The individual displayed an immense amount of respect and professionalism, and I was very impressed at the quick response I received. I have to say that I'm rather surprised to see such professionalism from a cab company employee. Final takeaway, while their drivers may not be the best, they do appear to be one of the best, if not the best, cab company in the city of Baltimore. Ride carefree knowing that even if you do have an issue with one of their drivers, the company itself will do their best to make it right.

Under no circumstances take a cab from the train station without checking Lyft and Uber prices, and…read moreconfirming they will take a credit card. I took a cab yesterday from the train station to Towson and the driver said $45, which seemed to high but I had no point of reference. At my destination I got my card out and he said it was cash only. I happened to to have cash because I was bringing cash to an elderly relative so I could use that, bit now I have to send her cash through the mail. To top it off I ordered Lyft the other way and it cost HALF! Moral of the story, don't get in a cab in Baltimore without checking Lyft and Uber and make sure they take cards. I had been prepared to give the cab driver a 20% tip too even on the ridiculous price but I gave zero tip when he said it had to be cash, and I also feel really great about that. I only wish I had thought to get the name of the cab driver. I work for a national company and I look forward to posting this info on our Baltimore bulletin board so everyone knows to avoid ztrip / cabs and can advise their clients against it too! And also everyone who travels there for business. I also go there about once a month and I will be getting a Lyft and ignoring the taxi stand from here on out. Even if they agree to match the rate and take cards they clearly have a predatory mindset and will find another way to cheat. I see they have 1.5 stars. Seems generously.

FAST!!! Gave them a…read morecall, and less than 10 minutes later, a van was outside of my house, ready to drive me to my destination. Our driver was friendly, but didn't try to force conversation. He got us to our destination quickly and without hassle. They accepted credit cards (and will email a receipt? NICE!), which was a plus. Our driver got us from the outskirts of the city (Violetteville) to Mount Vernon in no time at all. A tad pricey ($35 for two people), but all things considered, not too bad for the prompt service. When it's been one of those weeks when no one wants to be D.D., not to mention finding (and probably paying for) parking, Baltimore Cab offers convenience one can't beat.

The process was polite, quick, and painless. The explanation and bonus points (because I realize giving a 5 star taxi service rating is ... hard to fully justify): * texts to confirm appointment scheduling (time, pick up address, and rate) - also followed up with contact information to book a return ride or modify arrangements * online reservations/quotes are available (though I did not use them) * upgraded cars (optional - about $10 to swap to a executive sedan for my trip) * modified reservation for an earlier time was quick and easy * taxi arrived 10 min. early and called to say he was here and to come out when I was ready * very professional ride and service curb to curb * brownie point: asking me what radio station I'd like to sit back and relax to on my pre-dawn ride to the airport - completely unnecessary but thoroughly appreciated from a regular taxi ride
