So far, I like NPS. Unfortunately, if you have a weekend emergency, this company (Open Door Community Health Centers) is notorious for hiring rude receptionists. I had to call the after hours line on a Saturday, scared at the end of my first trimester, and "Operator 143," who refused to give me her name, gave me the third degree about why I needed to talk to someone with medical knowledge. She decided I wasn't having an emergency and told me to wait until Monday. I could not believe how rude she was-- I even told her it would be nice if she could drop the sarcasm considering I'm just a scared patient. She didn't get it and started bitching at me!
So, moral of the story, IF YOU ARE PLANNING AN UNCOMPLICATED PREGNANCY, NPS IS GREAT. IF NOT, YOU MAY HAVE TO DEAL WITH RECEPTIONISTS AND SUPPORT STAFF MORE, WHICH MEANS DEALING WITH RUDE RECEPTIONISTS WHO ARE CONDESCENDING AND MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE CRAP FOR BEING SCARED. (BY THE WAY, WHEN I STARTED, THEY SAID I COULD CALL 24/7 IF I FELT THE NEED.)
Honestly, health care in this county stinks. This is coming from a medical assistant who works here. Most support staff don't care about patient needs. They are all underpaid. Just move. read more
