So Marks is a huge cavernous space inside of Hillcrest. Never actually been there, but next to Old Navy on the north side of the mall. There was not a large selection, but landed on a pair of Windrivers for 30% off. The service was quick, in and out, with relative efficient. During my interaction with staff, I was advised that the policy I was referencing from Mark's official website did not exist. I was repeatedly told that a different policy applied and was even provided with a customer service number to confirm this information. However, when I contacted customer service, I was informed that the policy published by Mark's applies consistently and that the information I had been given in-store was incorrect. This left me in the uncomfortable position of having wasted a considerable amount of time only to discover that the staff assisting me were either unaware of their own company's policies or unwilling to properly review them before denying my request. What concerns me most is that at no point did I feel that there was any genuine effort made to understand my situation, investigate the matter, or provide the same level of consideration that other customers would reasonably expect. Instead, I felt dismissed, disrespected, and treated as though my concerns were not worthy of proper attention. As a Black customer, the manner in which I was treated has left me questioning whether I was afforded the same opportunities, courtesy, and fair consideration that would have been extended to other customers. While I cannot know the motivations behind the conduct I experienced, the overall treatment left me feeling singled out, embarrassed, and deeply uncomfortable. Beyond the inconvenience itself, I cannot recover the time that was wasted attempting to resolve a matter that should have been straightforward. I invested time speaking with staff, contacting customer service, and attempting to clarify a policy that should have already been understood by those representing your company. The experience has significantly damaged my confidence in Mark's and has left me feeling that my concerns were neither respected nor taken seriously. I intend to submit a formal complaint outlining the circumstances of this incident and requesting that the matter be thoroughly reviewed, including the conduct of the employees involved and the apparent lack of policy knowledge demonstrated during my interaction. I expect Mark's to investigate this matter carefully and provide an explanation as to why I was given information that directly contradicted your own published policies, as well as what steps will be taken to ensure other customers do not experience similar treatment. After all the drama I finally received what I was supposed to in the first place, only because customer service put them in their place. The employee ERICA IS A VERY DANGEROUS PERSON AND I CANT BELEIVE PEOPLE LIKE HER EXIST IN THE CUSTOMER SERVICE RETAIL INDUSTRY. She is the only one that made this experience unbearable. Charles was a little better but still gave me the run around.

I went into the store on a Friday evening and noted there were two staff working. One staff person began helping another customer and the second staff person was at the cash. I stood and looked at the selection of Blundstones for several minutes. Nobody came to help me. Then I walked back and forth in front of the cash and noted the second staff person at the cash was standing there leaning on the counter watching the first staff person help the other customer. She didn't do anything when I walked by so I turned around and said I had questions about the shoes. I asked questions about the colours of the shoes and their styles and felt like the answers I was getting from the staff person were annoying to her, like I was wasting her time. She eventually helped me whittle my choices down and I picked a pair and also picked out mink oil on her recommendation to care for them. After all was said and done, my total came to $276 and after paying with my gift card and my own money to make up the difference, the staff person packaged my purchase and handed it to me saying "there you go". I feel that for any customer who spends money in a store, especially almost $300, the customer should be thanked for coming in. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase but I scored this experience low based on the service experience. Unfortunately, I have seen reviews on Google that corroborate my experience as well.
