I asked for 2 small cokes and a lemonade - no prices were offered. He went and got the drinks, upon his return he asked for £5.55. For small cup drinks with no ice or anything that is absolute extortion. Putting this in perspective, a similarly sized drink in McDonalds costs 99p and has ice and tastes like the real thing. This tasted like rola cola. Then there was the dry ice sprayed over the lanes, this gave me a sore throat. Theres the repetition of cheesy One Direction-esque songs on repeat at such a high volume it was difficult to speak at a normal volume. Terrible experience.

I AGREE that it needs a refurbishment. coming from sheffield, we have a HOLLYWOOD bowl. which is better. and i would recommend that more than this one. but doesnt mean travel all the way to sheffield just to have a bowling game. lol

Unfortunately, as often happens these days, this is often spoiled by the groups of mid-teens who hang around the play areas smoking and drinking - often intimidating anyone who passes. This is another local park which has benefitted by the council's "tidying up" policies. In recent years, it has been planted with lots of trees and shrubs as well as plenty of flowers. So far, these have, mostly, survived the games of football played over them - notwithstanding the designated football areas with goalposts. Those with very young children should also be aware that there is a brook running right through the park.

I bring that food for my fussy baby, do they sell baby foods that my baby will eat? She should observe first if that food is going inside my mouth and not my baby's mouth. That staff ruined my day and I just go home after that coz I feel embarrassed and not welcome at all.

It can be accessed from Farrell Street or Manchester Road (via Peacock Avenue) and has some pathways laid out, suitable for wheelchairs or buggies. Once again, it is often necessary to watch out for bicyclists, but most are very courteous here. The odd kids on stolen and/or illegal motorcycles are not. Contrary to popular knowledge of the law, these are not legal on what used to be called common land and still need a license, tax and insurance - none of which they have. Rant over! Just off the laid paths is a quite large area which is the actual twiggery - water and marshland completely enclosed in shrubbery which is more akin to jungle than parkland. The authorities have had built raised, wooden walkways throughout this area without destroying the natural aspects - it is possible to see all manner of animal and birdlife if one is quiet enough. I have watched heron fishing in the pond near the entrance as well as kingfishers and wagtails. On St George's Day, we usually manage to pick enough dandelions for the next year's dandelion wine - more than two gallons some years.

I have to speak about this place from an observers point of view. My client had suffered a brain injury and was trying to reorganise his life, with our help, back to some sort of normality. One of the things he took a fancy to was riding. Over the course of a few months, the staff here had him quite knowledgeable about horses and their care, and riding as though he'd been doing it for years. There are a lot of animals on site, so the trainers can always pick a suitable horse for any individual. Being in Croft, there are plenty of quiet roads and paths around and they also have a training area very close to the main buildings. The rates are very reasonable - I even thought of trying it myself, but the thought of 14 stones of lumpy motorbiker sitting on a horse didn't conjure up a very nice picture! While there, I did see an enormous variety of people coming and going - it's not all young and teenaged girls, you know!
