At 12 noon today Sunday 06/22/2025 I called for TV repair was promised I would be called back within the hour by a tech person who knew what was going on with me losing my living room T.V. reception, it is now4:30P:M and not a word from this dog and pony show called Northstate or Lumos, what a shit show Northstate or Lumous or whatever Northstate or Lumous has devolved to! It would have been far better if whatever A-I or Dum ass they hooked me up with would have just leveled up and told me that they Lumous knew absolutely nothing about anything and just hung up. I am a month behind in payments and they will never receive another dime from me! And for the FOUR HOURS LUMOUS deprived me of today my rate is $50.00 per hour. Lumous owes me for 6 hrs. $ 300.00! Horrible company. Their internet service isn't even worth having. It cuts out constantly. Customer service is incredibly rude. Everything has gone downhill since they became Lumos. Now customers have to pay more to pay their bills which is ridiculous. I'm glad I switched companies. read more

NorthState offers cable fiber into the home. Great internet and customer service. We've had these folks for ~2 years and couldn't be happier and they certainly beat the "S" company over service, price and services. Just had a service call with Jeff. He arrived on time, diagnosed the problem and fixed it right away. Good competent service is always appreciated. read more

I have been using Northstate Communications, now, Lumos, fiber, for 5+ years. Now that it is Lumos, their customer service department is absolutely horrendous. I have tried four different times to get in touch with the billing department and they never call back. I would never recommend this company to anyone based on my current experience. Even the technical support department, who answers all department calls, cannot even get through to their own billing department. They are very quick to call you if your bill is 10 minutes past due though. read more

Well, the old adage that if it can happen, it will happen actually did on 12/24 this year when I lost my internet service. Luckily, it was the day before Christmas so I wasn't doing a lot of work, but who can live without internet these days. I logged a trouble ticket at 3:30pm and wasn't really expecting to be up until Monday. Well, to my surprise and wonderment, Shelia called me Sunday morning, Christmas Day, to advise me that the service had been restored about 2am. I checked and WOW! I was up and operational again. Thanks North State (Lumos) for taking care of your customers without hesitation or delay. People may complain about the cost, but my daddy always told me you get what you pay for and I'm getting outstanding service each time!!! read more

Worst customer service I've ever experienced and the "fiber" internet is currently the slowest internet I've ever experienced. I'm paying for 100/100 and getting 50/30 on a good day. I've called about this issue numerous times and I'm always told everything is "good." Well, after months of going back and forth, NorthState finally sent out a tech. When the tech arrived I learned he was actually a sales rep and his solution to the problem? I needed to upgrade my system and install NorthState's home mesh network. The sales rep said NorthState had 100% uptime and NEVER had any issues. The odd part was he said it with a straight face. Nothing is ever 100% and everything has issues. (Oh yea, NorthState waived the fee to come out to my house) BEWARE: NorthState will continue to bill you full rate while providing subpar internet service and no customer service. I'm switching back to Spectrum/Time Warner. They have subpar internet service but reliable customer service. read more

Best technician I have ever had at our home in over 20 years! Had a lot of frustration with another service provider who I gave several months of patience, wasted time, and loyalty to get my internet working properly. After several technicians left the job unfinished, install improper equipment and in some cases made the wiring and connection points worse, my expectations even with another company were significantly deflated. I just wanted to get something stable and functioning adequately. I was very blessed to have Mike R. come out to not only connect a more superior fiber optics line into our home, but also to undo the mistakes/wiring problems from the previous service provider. In fact, he is so experienced and knowledgable that he has trained and supervised most of the technicians from our other provider. He was able to show and explain to me the mistakes they made and why I was getting so much interference. He even admitted that if he still worked for them, he would have been able to get the line to be perform well and by taking some of the fraided connections, make it much more stable. It would just be that it would still be much slower while costing more, which made it even more convincing to go with North State. Mike is a very personable and courteous professional who helps educate the customer on what is going on with the equipment while he is diagnosing and problem solving solutions. He works efficiently and it shows not only that he has vast experience and is well trained, but that he also has a natural knack for this type of technological/electronic engineering. He is dedicated to stay until the job is done correctly and will not take shortcuts which obviously has been done to us by other companies. We are so fortunate to be blessed with his high character and work ethic, in that it took him longer to fix previous problems he found and to get us properly connect. But, instead of showing frustration, he demonstrated determination and was striving for excellence from the moment he knocked on the door and politely greeted me. It's just so sad that he had to undo and unknot the mess of weird shortcuts that he found in the crawlspace and even twisted up into our smartbox before he could move forward in constructing the strong and sound connection he knew would give us the best performance. And he proved this by showing us a couple of non-biased apps and speed tests that verified his approach after he cleaned up and confirmed the satisfaction of another job well done and conquered. Even when other members of the family came through the house asking for help with something or needing my attention, he just kept working steadily and intuitively, and then caught me up on any change of plans or methodology he had configured while my attention was taken to other work and family needs. Mike had such a positive attitude, worth ethic, solutions based approach, and thoroughness. He also took great care to be mindful of COVID precautions and prevention protocols while in our home. He was not only protecting himself, but also me and my children as he worked tirelessly around us for several hours. His friendly, down to earth, personality was a big plus too. The proper training, adequate experience, and a positive attitude make such a huge difference. Mike is a poster representation of all three and is a great role model for North State, the Connex contracting company, and the entire tech. communications industry. Not only have we been very pleased with the performance of our new North State internet, with such wonderful power and speed that Mike calibrated to peak performance in every corner of our house. We now have reliable connections at the extreme distance any device goes from the modem or mesh extenders. And we are joyful to have met a wonderful representative of their company who truly demonstrated that their business is about people and service just as much as having quality products and equipment! read more
