Not clean. Smelly toilets and dirty often broken equipment including tv connections. Manager who acts like a clown instead of managing.

POTENTIAL MEMBERS: READ BEFORE YOU'RE TRAPPED!!! I feel…read morecompelled to share my experience at Fitness First Macquarie Park to help others avoid the FRUSTRATION and DISAPPOINTMENT my partner and I encountered. What started as an exciting fitness journey quickly turned into a lesson about hidden fees and questionable business practices. During signup in November 2024, we explicitly discussed our UPCOMING TRAVEL PLANS with staff. Despite specifically mentioning our need to freeze our memberships during this period, we were never informed of the $5 WEEKLY FREEZE FEE. This crucial information was only revealed after we had already committed to a contract with a lock-in period. Let me be crystal clear - this isn't about the $5 or $10. We all spend money on extras in life. This is about the ABSOLUTE DISGRACE of a business that has zero ethics and treats people like disposable ATMs. The sheer audacity to hide fees and then act like WE'RE the unreasonable ones is mind-boggling! ⁉⁉⁉ Anyway, furthermore, the deceptive practices run even deeper. During signup, they enticed us with a "special discount" - claiming we'd pay just $34 per week if we joined right away. Sounds great, right? Well, imagine our shock when checking our bank statements weeks later to discover an additional $5 weekly "account holding fee" being quietly charged. SINCE WHEN DID A GYM BECOME A BANK that charges account holding fees? While we initially tried to overlook this sneaky charge since we planned to be long-term members, our patience completely evaporated when they blindsided us with yet another fee - the membership freeze charge that was never once mentioned during our lengthy signup discussion. ⁉⁉⁉ The most infuriating part? When we tried to address these issues, we hit a wall of indifference. Their solution? Pay up or pay even more to cancel - because apparently, we're "breaking the contract" by not accepting their hidden fees. They conveniently hide behind an "agreement" that was supposedly sent within 48 hours of joining, after we had already signed up. Their entire business model seems built on TRAPPING MEMBERS WITH UNDISCLOSED FEES and then holding them hostage with hefty cancellation penalties. ‼‼‼ We ultimately had to pay a $195 cancellation fee to end this frustrating experience. If you're considering joining this gym, I strongly urge you to: * Get EVERYTHING in writing before signing * Ask specifically about ALL possible fees and charges. * Read EVERY LINE OF THE CONTRACT, as verbal assurances seem to mean nothing here. ‼‼‼ Don't make the same mistake we did of trusting verbal communications. Save yourself the headache and consider the many other gyms in the area that practice transparent business. I'm taking the time to write this detailed review of our recent experience because I genuinely don't want others to face the same frustration and disrespect we endured. When a business treats its members like walking wallets rather than human beings, they deserve to be called out. Every word here reflects our real, recent experience - and I sincerely hope it helps you make a more informed decision than we were able to. Your time, money, and dignity deserve better than this.

Macquarie University Sports and Aquatic Centre…read more Like many things at Macquarie University, it's sporting and athletics complex has been recently renovated. Although universally refered to as «the gym» by students, the Macquarie University Sports and Aquatic Centre is actually so much more. The complex's facilities are extremely impressive; no matter what time of day or night you find yourself there, you rarely need to wait to use your chosen piece of equipment; a pleasant contrast to many gyms around the 6pm mark. The centre also offers its members free use of its multiple squash, tennis, basketball and netball courts, as well as its indoor and outdoor pools. Swimming lessons for all ages are available here, as well as squads and the ability to leisurely push yourself up and down the pool for as long as humanely possible. The cafe attached to the gym is widely considered to produce the best coffee on campus, and - bonus! - there's never a line. In case you've committed the rookie error of coming for a swim and forgotten your swimmers, the Sports and Aquatic Centre stocks a full range of swimming costumes and goggles, plus a formidable range of other affiliated gym gear. Plus, there is a carpark with two hours of free parking - happy days! The centrex also has an impressive range of classes, at a range of times deeply convenient to uni students on campus for the day. Wanna try Tai Chi? Now's your chance! Pilates? Body Attack? Body Pump? Spin? All the old favourites - plus some newcomers on the gym class scene, the most obvious being Zumba - are avaiable. Plus, they come at student (and working-professional, obviously) friendly prices; for the non-member, classes are only $10 a pop! Compare that with the Fitness First's of the world.... If team sport is your thing, then you're also covered; the Sports and Aquatic Centre's mind blowingly popular social netball is offered three nights per week, while social touch football and soccer are on twice weekly. For the less traditional, you can partake in weekly competitive badminton. (I'm not joking). The centre's staff are also always friendly and courteous, the bathrooms clean and the lockers available. Plus, the value is astonishingly good. A membership with the Sports and Aquatic Centre feautres no lock-in contract, no joining fee and a getting-started session with a personal trainer. Students, staff and alumni of Macquarie University are lucky to receive a discounted rate, but others will still find this membership won't break the bank!

When I'm here I need a gym…read moreand Fitness First is, as far as i can see, one of the few places that will give you a punch card. Other places you just have to pay membership or a full guest fee. I bought a 10-pass, which is about $8 cheaper, per visit, than paying a guest fee. The gym itself is nice. It leans more towards classes and weight training than cardio, so if it's just a ton of cardio machines you're after, this might not be the place. That said, you can at least usually always find a free cardio machine, if that's what you want. They have a great range of classes. They always have a 6am class but then the next classes are usually around 9. Is it just me that thinks it's weird that there aren't many 7 or 8am classes. Like most there there's just an empty time slot. Odd. The staff are very friendly, especially at the front desk.

All good, got to experience the new releases for both classes last week, as at the time of writing this. Really helpful staff. Internet access and a cafeteria greet you, with a great swimming pool facility. No time to swim, just get ready for the classes. There are an abundance of locker facilities, and ample space to hang up your clothes prior to taking a shower unlike the other Fitness First gyms. Then why only three stars? Firstly, the classes were way too crowded, especially Body Balance. The Body Combat class in the main group exercise room were delayed, and hence my Body Attack class was delayed making me late for Body Balance in the mind-body studio which is a minutes walk. Never mind. With a platinum club you pay platinum prices, even if you do not use all of the facilities. Casual visits are $28 a pop, even though I did achieve my fitness goals on this occasion. However, if you come with a friend or family member who is a member of this gym, or of all Fitness First clubs, you get in for $22. Tried to download the free pass you can use on your first visit to come here, and I received server errors. I like Fitness First, yet I will give the George St Platinum club a try. Great, yet the platinum clubs are still overrated having tried this one and their one at Bondi Junction a while ago.
