I can't say enough great things about this little gem. My girlfriends and I were planning a "meet…read morein the middle" get together as two of us live in Dartmouth and the other two live in Cape Breton. We wanted a cheap spot to stay overnight where we'd be comfortable to hang out and a have a girls night. After a recommendation from a coworker, I looked this place up online and was immediately sold. And what a deal! They currently have a "Trip Advisor" rate for the off season of $79 a night for any of their 8 rooms. We picked one with 2 double beds. The $79 was based on double occupancy, so we had to pay $10 each per extra person. But $99 is still a steal, especially considering what you get in return. It's located about a 5 minute drive from Main St in Antigonish. The exterior is sort of non-descript and much what you would expect from a motel. It's okay, but nothing special. It is definitely not an indication of the rooms. Our room was very homey. It is painted in lovely warm but light earthy tones, and the flooring was a nice honey-toned laminate. The L-shaped bathroom is cute and roomy with ceramic flooring and a fantastic-looking tub. The entire room was immaculate. The beds are soooo comfortable with clean white duvet covers and no shortage of pillows. Lots on the bed, along with extra pillows and blankets in the armoire. A TV and DVD player also sit in the armoire, and the office has a tall bookcase filled with DVDs you can borrow for free. One wall in the room holds a small kitchen, with cupboards, dishes/utensils, a stove, small fridge, microwave and counter space. It's very unobtrusive within the room, yet so convenient. A selection of chips and chocolate bars were on the table as part of an honour bar. The prices were no more expensive than what you'd pay to buy them yourself. The fridge had a couple bottles of complementary water, along with some soda which was also part of the honour bar. We wanted to check in early so we could leave our luggage in the room, and that was no problem at all. But when we walked in the room, we liked it so much we stayed a little while before heading out again. It was so clean, we removed our boots at the door. Then we all immediately plopped on the beds. We were so comfortable we basically had to force ourselves up after 5 mins to go out and explore, otherwise we'd just crash for the day. We came back late afternoon and curled up on the beds again for some girl talk. We headed out later for a nice dinner and grabbed a few DVDs on our way out for that night. We came back to the room with dessert to share, grabbed some forks and dug in. Then we all got in comfy clothes and got in bed to watch some movies and chat, and eventually sleep. We were so comfortable there. When we woke up the next morning, we took advantage of the continental breakfast, which is included in the room rate. What a selection! Homemade muffins, fresh bread, fruit, bagels, granola bars, yogurt, cereal, oatmeal and more - plus juice, tea and coffee. We spent an hour or so chatting in the breakfast room (which is made up of 2 or 3 tables and chairs on one side of the office, next to a large window), while enjoying our lovely breakfast. When it was time to check out, I was sad to leave. It would have been great to stay another night or two. Lovely inn with amazing attention to detail (above and beyond), and super friendly and welcoming service. I can't recommend highly enough!

The Antigonish Evergreen Inn combines the best of the hotel, motel and B&B formats. My wife and I…read morestayed two nights at the Inn before continuing on to Cape Breton Island and enjoyed our stay; enough to return for another night on the return trip. Breakfast is served in the office reception area by the owners. Richard and Linda are warm and friendly; after a few minutes you feel like old friends. Their staff are also friendly. During our stays we enjoyed homemade blueberry scones - cereals, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt and more are also available. Staff and owners assisted with travel plans, suggestions for meals, etc. The rooms were tastefully decorated, hotel quality and well-equipped including robes and slippers as other reviewers have noted. Desks have a pop-up panel concealing electrical outlets and USB outlets. The rooms have (electric) fireplaces with heat available which adds to the atmosphere. There are many thoughtful touches; I noticed that each room has a small glass ring storage dish. The motel format adds the advantage of easy parking close to your room's door - no stairs, elevator, corridors or large parking lot to navigate. I will definitely return on my next trip to Nova Scotia.

Rooms are clean, staff are friendly and over all good service. Though, I would NOT recommend…read moregetting a room on the main floor!!!! I woke up with a beetle crawling in my bed, and found three other bugs in the room earlier that day. I'm guessing the bugs get inside due to the automatic door on the main floor, and then they crawl into the guests rooms. I transferred rooms the next morning to a new room on the fourth floor and did not have any bug issues after that.

The rooms are ordinary and average but very clean. Breakfast in the morning ( which is included) is slim pickings. If you're there for more than a night or two you'll become bored with the little variety they offer. The beds were not the most comfortable I've ever slept in. The water pressure in the shower was low. I was lucky and got a room facing away from the highway so it was nice and quiet. There isn't much within walking distance for restaurants if you don't have a car; delivery options are limited. The hotel has pool, waterslide and hot tub. However the pool towels are kept at the front desk which to me is awkward. I went to the desk for a towel only to find a sign saying the agent has stepped away, but if you need service to call a certain extension, which did nothing. No one came. Eventually there were 5 of us waiting in the lobby for service. And really who wants to walk through the hotel lobby on their bathing suit to get a towel? It was weird. By the time the agent came back to the desk it was getting close to time for the pool to close. Overall a good stay. Nothing to write home about but not terrible either.
