I was kept pain-free through the whole thing & on the way out the door, I was provided instructions for at-home care & my prescriptions to be filled at my favorite pharmacy. It upsets me to have to submit this bad review. I genuinely have had good experiences with the staff, however I am now in a difficult financial situation thanks to an error they made. I got a consultation for orthodontic work and staff informed me that my dental insurance would cover a significant portion of the work, making it affordable for myself. I did not think my insurance would cover what they were saying so I asked them to double check and confirm before I committed. They assured me that I should have the coverage. I moved forward with the work only to be told 2 days after the work was done that my insurance does not actually cover what they thought it would and I now owe them significantly more money. When I pointed out that it was their mistake and they had reassured me the work would be covered they did not so much as apologize. Frankly, I feel like as it is their mistake they should take the hit and not pass the cost on to me. I did not even ask for them to cover the entire cost. I simply asked that, since it was their mistake, they offer a discount on the amount I had not previously agreed to. They refused. It is shameful to corner a patient into paying additional costs after they have already had work done. My experience with North Powers Modern Dentistry has been nothing short of a nightmare. They made a glaring mistake in my insurance billing that ended up costing me $1000. Despite nine months of promises and discussions, they never rectified the issue. This all started because they failed to verify my insurance coverage properly, resulting in ongoing discrepancies between their records and what both MyChart.com and my insurance company confirmed. In addition, to failing to report the issue as an emergency to my insurance company. Instead of promptly addressing their mistake, they insisted I come into the office four times just to discuss the problems I had clearly outlined to them. This not only wasted my time but also highlighted their utter incompetence and lack of professionalism. To make matters worse, when I expressed my frustration, their response was shockingly unprofessional. They actually had the nerve to imply that because I was "working with them," they wouldn't report me to collections--a low-level threat that seemed designed to intimidate rather than resolve the issue. It's absolutely appalling that a dental office could operate with such disregard for basic customer service and ethical behavior. Eventually I paid the $1000 with little other options and out of pure frustration of the incompetence of the entire billing depart as well as the "operations manger". I was on a road trip and my crown popped out. I stopped at this office to see if they could recement it, I wasn't in any discomfort, just an inconvenience. The front desk person, Veronica, asked me a few questions, I told her I'd be a self pay. I waited a reasonable amount of time given I was a walk in I was taken back to a room, the dental assistant basically asked me the same questions Veronica had, she too an X-ray, prepared me to be seen by the dentist. The dentist, Dr. Strong came in, asked me the same questions the previous two had asked, NEVER looked inside my mouth and then said Veronica would come back to discuss cost. Veronica came back in and quoted almost $300 to recement the crown. I denied because I thought that was too high and the dentist never examined me. I decided to go here for annual cleaning and the staff is great the Dr (name starts with a P) not so much. The prices are outrageous, they also take a pano every damn visit like seriously nothing has changed in 30-60-90 days I have to move on and find a different dentist as the this one tells me that I can't changed the type of night guard they ordered after telling them it was not working for me and I just needed one like I had while in the military I just needed a replacement. Once I had one Doctor tell me I needed work done and then I can in and scheduled the work to be done, and the Doctor that day sent me home. I moved over from sister office across town when my longtime dentist left. was sorely disappointed with an immediate wait to being sent to X-ray with a NEW and inexperienced tech (first time in 55 years that I have ever been in pain during X-rays!) who left partway through and switched to a different X-ray tech. then had a poorly done polish (same new gal). after ripping my gums by not taking her time flossing, and snapping the floss past my tight gaps and into my flesh, she gets on me to floss more--cuz I'm bleeding! The tech set up for cleaning, I confirmed the dentist would be doing the cleaning, waited, waited. dentist shows up, pokes around my mouth, scrapes Maybe 3 teeth, measures my recessed gums. she never fires up the cleaning machine to clean my teeth. she leaves, I wait and wait and wait. I get up to ask someone in scrubs after 2 hours now, what's the story. I was told I had booked a 90 minute appointment--what?! and that the dentist is waiting for someone to take more pics. finally get different tech (5th one I have dealt with so far) one that arrives and takes pics of wrong stuff (I would have gladly walked back over to the X-ray room to expedite these pics!) they ask if I can wait another 15 minutes to talk to the dentist, who hasn't addressed the tooth she asked for pics of. I wait, find out the wrong pics were taken, but she talks about my options. She was nice enough, now that I'm invested over 2 hours of my time. she finishes, asks if I still want fluoride, I say yes. she doesn't do it herself. I wait and wait and finally go ask the front desk (5+ employees standing around talking in the front office area) if someone can put on the fluoride, that I have been there since 3:30pm. one breaks away to take care of me-- she's obviously inconvenienced by me. it's now dinner time, and I cant eat for another half hour! finally left, and it's dark, and I wish I had never called them, I never actually got my teeth cleaned by a hygienist--a primary reason to go every six months. if they are anything like their sister office, expect overcharging, and that you will have to check your explanation of benefits (every time!) for their shady billing. we put up with it across town cuz we liked the dentist. I went to take my wife for her appointment. She came out in complete pain and remained in pain for several hours afterwards. She said the numbing agent didn't work and when she told the dentist, they laughed it off. They also lied to her about something called "Smile Generation". They said if she filled out an application that she may be eligible to pay less on her bill, but failed to mention that it was because "Smile Generation" is a line of credit and it would go on her credit report, pull her score and was pretty much like a credit card for dentistry. Ridiculous. They need to be up front about what they want people to sign. I've left a review with the BBB as well. I am extremely surprised they allow their staff to be so uneducated about "Smile Generation" if they are going to push it on to patients, and if they do know what it is, the fact that they would flat out lie to patients to get them to fill out an application. I have come here for three years and each visit seems different. Unfortunately no visit has been exceptional. My teeth are never as clean as I would like them after my cleanings. Today I have been waiting for 11 minutes and was just told my doctor was in a different bldg. instead of starting my routine cleaning we are waiting for the doctor arrive. I will give him 5 minute then most likely walking out. I am unsure why a patient is expected to be on time (I was 15 minutes early today), but the doctors can walk in late? This place is FANTASTIC! We've been patients for the last several years. They always do good work, and fixed some bad dentistry my husband had as a child. But this is what really made them stand out. We unexpectedly had a foster son from Ukraine. He was being hosted, and we are too young to adopt him (there is a 15 year age gap rule, unfortunately). Especially as I knew we couldn't adopt him, we were frantic to get him into the dentist and eye doctor before he went back to his orphanage. I mentioned at the front desk that Maxim only spoke Russian. Dr. Anderson, the dentist we saw, spoke not only Spanish and English, but Russian too! He was incredibly kind to Maxim, made him laugh, and the entire team was patient with our foster son as he explored his new surroundings. Maxim went from being scared to being excited and happy because of their kindness. This experience was profoundly touching. Max couldn't stop talking about the dentist - how he wanted to be a dentist in Ukraine when he grew up, and how COOL was the TV on the ceiling, and that Dr. Anderson was amazing. Do not go to this office, especially for orthodontics. They are trying to rip people off and have terrible practices. I have never in my life been asked to stick my fingers in my mouth to hold my lips open so they can take photos. This is not my first rodeo with orthodontics. I've even worked in a dentist and ortho office. There are tools to use to hold your lips open which they eventually brought out so I know they have them. And asking someone to stick their fingers in their mouth during COVID!? Gross. Now for the "rip off". They wanted to charge me $500 for a replacement permanent retainer. No, my insurance won't cover a replacement, but this office claims to be in network with Delta Dental PPO and they seem to have no idea about contracted rates. When I said $500 was high the treatment coordinator said she wanted to "help me out" and give it to me for $400 but the orthodontists would only go down to $450. I didn't realize this was a negotiation. She also claimed that my insurance was going to charge me $1000 so not reporting it would be better! What!? They give you about three seconds to make a decision too. I had such a weird feeling and am glad I followed my gut to leave the office. I went to another, more high end office that DOESNT EVEN TAKE MY INSURANCE and their price for the same retainer is only $275. I will definitely not be going back to this office, which is a bummer because I was looking for a new home for our family dental. read more

Update: My experiences with them in the beginning were really great but as time has gone on, my experiences have gone downhill. Here are a few of the issues lately: The last time I was in they had me sign a form that stated if I was 5 minutes late, they could cancel and reschedule my appointment. Yet I waited for 15 minutes after my appointment time, to be called back for my appointment. I get appointment confirmations multiple times through email, text and phone which is wonderful so I don't forget but when I confirm the appointment through one of those avenues, I still continue to get notifications that tell me that if I don't confirm my appointment, it will be forfeited. A bit annoying. I've seen multiple hygienists since I've been there, no consistency on that front. I've been going every 4 months for years, yet this last time I was told by my new hygienist that I don't have to come back for 6 months with no explanation for the change. Also, due to a change and mix-up, I haven't been seen by my dentist there for over 6 months. It's disappointing because I thought they would be able to sustain the positive experience I had but it just seems like they are too overwhelmed. I will be looking into finding a new dentist office with some consistency. read more

I came to this dentist office after I admittedly hadn't been to a dentist in a while, so I was already embarrassed going in. I have the first exam and the dentist told me AFTER all my insurance was used, I would still owe $3,000 for a couple of root Canals after multiple other cavities needed to be filled. I was really surprised at this. So I asked for some clarification and pictures. When I did this he proceeded to be SO condescending and bring me out a child's picture book to explain what a cavity was. I left the office sobbing. So this review is just for the practice, not the dentists. Avoid these guys if you can. The dentists are nice but their billing is off constantly. They quote you one price and then they have you pay more later or they send you a refund six months later because they over bill. The receptionists constantly send you to the wrong building because they have two buildings and they don't coordinate well. Speaking of the receptionists, they are hit and miss. One of the ladies is very nice. I wish I knew her name. Erica on the other hand, always seems to have a bad attitude. I get it is a stressful job, but she walks behind the wall where you can't see her and makes comments about patients to the hygienists. At the hospital I worked at, that would get you walking papers for that behavior. Your required to stand inside the building if a family member has any kind of oral surgery. So you sit inside of an extremely tiny waiting room, where the tv is off and there is no bathroom or at least none that I've seen. Every other place I've been to at least allows you to sit in your car to free up some wait room space, not here. You sit in a full wait room, so close to the receptionist you have to here all of her phone calls and comments. If Dr. Pikett ever moves practices, we will leave immediately. Right now were stuck with all the incompetence of this place, because he does great work. It's a shame, before the second building was added, this place was a great dentistry. Wife and I decided to try a different dentist close to home after several years and we just found out by the new dentist that a tooth extraction from over three years ago left cotton in my wife's jaw and now it has to be surgically removed. SCARY! I also had a tooth extraction and a crown done here. Every time I've stopped in for a routine exam and cleaning; they've found some sort of expensive procedure that needs to be done as well. My retainer cracked and I needed to get in to see Dr. Madejczyk ASAP to be fitted for a new one. I normally see her at the Falcon Landing office but since she travels around, I was able to make an appointment at this office and they were able to get me in the next day. I always appreciate when the providers are on time and courteous of your time and schedule. I was taken back right on time, seated and set up with new retainers. I was in and out in about an hour which was fantastic! Dr. M and her staff are all so friendly and remembered me even though it has been over 2 years since I last saw them. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. My husband (who doesn't Yelp) visited this location for a dental implant consultation. First, he waited for 30+ minutes in the chair before being seen. When a staff member finally came in, it wasn't a periodontist with any kind of knowledge of implants. They took X-rays and looked in his mouth for less than a minute before leaving the room again. They suggested a CT scan to get a 3D image of his mouth but then, after thinking about it, said that he wouldn't need that. He waited another 20+ minutes with zero contact before getting up and telling the front desk that he had to get back to work. They were confused as to why he was still there and started to walk back to his room even though he was standing right in front of them. Do not go here. They don't know what's going on, how to properly treat patients, or how to give an implant consult. This is a great dentist for kids! They have a separate office just for kids and really do a wonderful job of making the visit quick and easy. The kids get to ring a gong when they are cavity free. The visit was filled with pillow pets, prizes, mechanical toothbrushes, stickers, videos and a really bubbly and energetic staff. My wife and I moved here from Wisconsin and picked Modern Dentistry based on reviews and proximity to our home. The front staff was incredibly kind and friendly, but the dentist (and younger man) felt more like a salesman than a person who wanted what was best for our dental health. He said my wife and I both had periodontal disease and our gums were in serious trouble. We had never heard this from our previous dentists. He also told me that I need to replace my fillings even though there was currently nothing wrong with them. The bill would have been over $3,000. I declined the procedure but made another appointment for 6 months as it's easier for insurance to stay with the same practice for a year. At my next appointment, the dentist sat down and said, "Ready for the procedure we talked about last time?" I said no...I was just in for a cleaning. He huffed, looked at my teeth for under 30 seconds then left the room without saying goodbye or anything. Once I wasn't going to make him a bunch of money, I didn't matter. I went to a different practice today and they said my gums and fillings are all perfectly fine. Be careful at Modern Dentistry if they propose big procedures because it would have been completely unnecessary for me. read more

Fantastic office! I've been to my fair share of dentist in my life. I came upon this dentist after a terrible experience with another dentistry office. The first day i came in Dr Hall was able to do everything i needed including a teeth cleaning and fixing a cavity. Later as i needed a wisdom tooth removed, i was told that i needed surgical procedure and scheduled for a day in June. The office called me to tell me i needed to reschedule but i couldn't so Dr Pickett did it himself! Dr Pickett took care of me again yesterday for some extensive work i needed for my teeth. I have been going to this place for 5 yrs and every year I have X-rays done. Last year I felt a pump on my gums and when I go for a consultation I was told my tooth had crack inside and it's spreading. When I ask if I had since I been coming in 2016 I was told yes. So no one felt the need to tell me about it. Today the pediatrician came to speak about my son mouth and when I opened my mouth to tell him hr mention the same problem at the last visit, he didn't even let me finish he cut me off and told me since I was getting heated he will leave and come back like he was talking to a 5 yrs old. I wasn't even mad I was just questioning if something had changed in 6 months. He was very rude and very disrespectful. When I called Erin to complain the first thing out of her mouth is do you want a discount, I don't care about a discount I care about how I'm being treated when I go there. Customer service sucks over there. I went 2 days ago to get my sons prescription I get tj the main building and I'm told it's in the other building so I walked over there and I'm told it's not in that building it's in the main building. The lady walks over to bring it to me then I noticed the name is misspelled so when I tell her she had an attitude so she writes over the name to make the correction. So i went in for an appt and I was told by the dentist I needed scaling I thought it was some difficult procedure turns out it was just a deep cleaning. On top of my insurance coverage I cant believe I still had to pay $385 out of pocket for something that should have just been considered regular cleaning...not only that the charming hyginiest that cleaned my teeth popped one of my fillings out and when i asked she said it must've been something i ate that was stuck in between my teeth, later on the dentist came in and mentioned my filling came and offered to replace it for free go figure. Would be negative stars if I could. Stay away from this dentist at all costs! I had broken my front tooth on vacation in Iowa ( a bit of an oxymoron, I know).. I saw a great local dentist in Iowa immediately to get the tooth temporarily filled. The dentist there did an amazing job and did not think my nerves were damaged, however, he wanted me to check in with a local dentist in the springs to have the tooth retested and make sure it wasn't dying. About two weeks after getting home I found North Powers Modern Dentistry as an in network dentist and attempted to make an appointment. They close around 7pm and it took several phone calls to get them to take me after work at 4:30pm because they kept refusing to see me as a "new patient" due to some stupid rule that they won't take new patients that late in the day. After several phone calls, I was finally able persuade them to allow me to be seen the following day as a "walk-in" even though it was emergency. After about a 45 minute wait- which seemed completely unnecessary as I appeared to be the only patient there with a full staff- they finally took me back. They ended up taking two x-rays instead of just the one they needed and used up all of my x-rays for the year even thought they were just supposed to take a single x-ray of the tooth in question. Following the x-ray I spent about another 20 minutes in a chair waiting for the dentist. She finally came in- looked at the x-ray of my single tooth (never even bothered to look at the second x-ray of my whole mouth as it was completely unnecessary.. and in just 30 seconds she determined that my tooth was dying, even though I had expressed to her that I felt absolutely no pain or sensitivity in the tooth. (Received my bill about a week later and learned that they did an extra x-ray I asked them not to do and the notes of the visit claimed that I said that I was in pain and the tooth was really bothering me- a completely lie) She told me that I had no time to waste and I would need to immediately endure a 6 month process of getting an implant. After, zero testing and her not even bothering to test my tooth or actually look at my tooth at all- she sent in their "payment" person to go over how much the procedure would cost. I spent about an hour with this women who tried to convince me that I needed the most expensive procedure they offered or o would be at risk of having more problems in the near future. She stater that the implant would cost 4000 dollars after insurance- even though I had great insurance and went on to explain that insurance doesn't cover some of the most basic parts of the procedure and that they would need the 4000 upfront before any work could be done- and continued to make me feel like my health was severely at risk of I didn't have this procedure done right away. Needless to say I had a really bad feeling about this place- they wouldn't let me leave without signing the quotes they provided.. even though I never agreed to the service and as they stated it was just an estimate- but still for some reason I had to sign it to get out of the chair. Who makes you sign an estimate when you haven't even agreed to the procedure and they haven't even talked to my insurance yet to see what was covered? I came home and began to do research and learned that not only were they charging the highest possible amount for the procedures according to the health bluebook, I also learned that it is much better to save the tooth with a route canal- at any cost- before just ripping it out. Fortunately I found Dr. Royal at Alliance Family Dentistry- I explained to them what happened and they got me right in. Dr. Royal did extensive testing and determined that my tooth was not dying, in fact the Iowa dentist had done a fantastic job of bonding my tooth and he saw no need to do ANYTHING at this time. So NPMD was going to rip my tooth out and give me teeth problems for the rest of my life solely for the purpose of scamming me out of as much money as they could.. not to mention scaring me half to death. Just disgusting. I will be reporting NPMD to the better business bureau and strongly urge anyone reading this to avoid this place like the plague- go over to Alliance Family Dentistry where they will treat you like a human being. I couldn't be happier with the staff and treatment I have received. I initially began as a patient here when I had a filling crack - they worked me into the schedule and went over the options. They worked with me until I was able to pay the amount for the crown I needed, and when I was it was a same day crown. My latest visit I went in for a root canal & bleaching. I see Dr. Hagan. He is very friendly and calm, and also quick and efficient. I generally have a fear of dental work because I have problems getting numb and staying numb. However, the absolute worst part of the entire root canal was the 5 or so pokes of the needle when he was inserting the numbing medication - that's a total win in my book. I can't remember the dental assistants name, but she held my hand as he was numbing me (I'm a total wimp) and it meant a lot that she cared enough to do that. Dr. Hagen explained pretty much every step to me, so I always knew what was going on. He really is a great dentist. Moving on, the whitening portion of my visit was awesome! Diana (I think??? Sorry guys, I'm not good with names!) was very thorough in her process. She was super careful covering my gums and explaining the whole process. I am SO HAPPY with the results. My next visit is in two weeks, and I am actually not anxious for it, even though it includes quite a bit of work. I know the staff will take care of me. read more
