I think there just not quick enough to restock the shelves

I have memories of this store dating back about four years ago, this store hasn't changed much since then but still remains a decent branch of Tesco and probably their better and more central store in Durham, as they also have an Express store which is quite close to the train station. This store is quite a large one, it seems to be all over one floor, unlike my local Tesco Metro in Manchester city centre which is over two floors. The store stocks a satisfactory selection of drinks and an impressive selection of essentials, even including a selection of games and showcase mobile phones, yet "cheap and budget" mobiles rather than the likes of the Iphone. The staff here also seemed nice enough. This store is one of the larger stores in Durham which I went in on my recent visit to the city, and with a decent selection of groceries and even games, yet not a big enough selection to do a weekly shop. this store is still above average and deserves a solid three-star rating.

There's plenty of free parking and it's conveniently located. The choice is excellent and the shop well laid out and always well stocked, even at busy periods near Christmas. There is a cafe which serves hot food as well as snacks, sandwiches, cakes and drinks and is a pleasant place to prepare for the shopping or recover from it! Service can be a bit slow at times for the hot food but it's tasty and portions are large. Their big breakfasts are fab! There's a good range of CDs, DVDs and magazines and plenty of tills so it doesn't suffer too much from long queues unless at extraordinarily busy times.

Like all Tesco stores it has its good points but also drawbacks. The beauty of Tesco is that they accept any retail coupons, even if you are not buying the product. I believe this particular Tesco accepts up to 50% of the value of your shopping, which is fab, though they only accept one of the same coupon. I tend to just use about 50p-£1 per transaction as I think that when people get greedy they are less likely to be so generous! I think the prices are about the same as other leading supermarkets, but they do have some good bogofs and also if you have a clubcard you sometimes get 'till spits' - these are vouchers that are printed by the tills, they are offers targeted at the customer depending on their previous purchases. They usually give you X amount of extra clubcards points if you buy a product, though I have heard some people getting completely free items so it is definitely worth signing up for the card even if you don't shop there regularly. All in all Tesco are a pretty average supermarket, pricewise. If there was a branch more local to me, I would definitely switch to them as their clubcard offers great perks if you know how to use it properly to take advantage of the numerous special offers.

It has everything you would need for a full weekly shop, but the car parks are not situated very close so this would mean that you would have to carry your bags quite away. You can often pick up some good offers and Tesco also has a clubcard system where you can earn points to redeem on items at a later date. The store is nice and layed out well with helpful staff available if you need them.

The actual store is very clean and bright but as the store also takes payment for petrol as well as shop goods it can have horrendous queues. I only use this store if I'm desperate if I'm honest as it does have a limited stock to offer.Also since the full sized Tesco supermarket is just along the road it's just as easy to go there.

The pumps do not have a card payment option so you will also find that the queues instore can be a pain as well. The shop itself is very clean and is well stocked. There is always fresh fruit and vegetables incase you need to stock up. The staff are polite but stressed. You can see it in their faces that they wish the queues would go down. The most annoying thing about the store is that if you are just want to pay for petrol you still have to queue with the people who have shopping. And some have loads. They should dedicate one till to petrol only or change the pumps to the card type. All that said the petrol station is one of the cheapest in the area and has one of a limited number of cash points in the area.

The george here is good and often has sales to make the clothes even cheaper that usual, they have a full range of their electrical stuff as well as dvds, books and cds. I woudlnt be getting the fresh fruit and veg from here as they tend not to have a long shelf life The meal deals here are good as they have a large range of chinese and vegetarian food. They do have a space in the chiller where the sale items where the date is almost up and they usually have some really good offers here
