Who has the greatest Texas-sized welcome center in all the land? The University of North Texas…read moredoes!! The UNT Welcome Center is where all visitors start their campus tours and learn more about the university. It officially opened on March 4, 2019, and it is attached to the newest dorm on campus called, Joe Greene, named after UNT football legend "Mean" Joe Greene. Although our daughter started UNT a year before the welcome center was built, we did stop by before it was complete and got a sneak peek! The building elevation is beautiful, the lobby is huge, and this space has the most intense UNT branding on campus. It looks and feels like a magnificent resort hotel. There are many friendly faces, UNT hosts called Eagle Ambassadors that will answer any questions you may have. I did a little research and learned that UNT is doing campus tours very differently because of the pandemic. They typically offer several ways to experience the campus including walking tours, tram tours, academic tours, etc. But for now, due to COVID19, they are offering limited capacity in-person walking tours and guided virtual tours. The in-person walking tours last about 90 minutes. To support social guidelines, the walking portion of the tour is limited to 10 guests including the guide. Hang in there!!! When campus life returns to normal UNT will follow through with some sort of celebration. For now, they have an amazing Facebook page where you can find great information: https://www.facebook.com/TourUNT/photos/?ref=page_internal

Being a first time mother, and super weary of putting my child in daycare, I'm super pleased by our experience. The teachers are wonderful and are constantly keeping you updated on your child's day. They will even send you pictures of your child during their activities which as a full time working mom, I greatly appreciate. These teachers work so hard and are so so kind. Not once have I had to worry about my child not being taken care of. The directors here are wonderful. Angela and Tina are extremely involved, attentive, and professional. Any problem I've had, they always follow up. On top of that, they are both so kindhearted and loving. My kid LOVES them. We are super blessed to be apart of Children's Lighthouse.

I strongly recommend avoiding this daycare, especially if your baby is not considered an "easy"…read morebaby. My 5-month-old had only been attending for barely a week when I witnessed something that was completely unacceptable to me as a parent. There is a livestream camera in the room, and while watching it, I saw my daughter left in a bouncer for over 5 minutes. During that time, she was screaming and crying, and the staff member in the room walked past my daughter twice without acknowledging her or checking on her. I immediately brought the situation to the staff's attention. Then when rolling back the camera, we found out she was actually in the bouncer crying for over 10 minutes. At first, we received the same concern from the office staff that we had as to why our baby was being ignored. I was told that it would be investigated and that I would receive a phone call regarding what happened. Four hours passed, and I never received a call or any follow-up. When we ultimately made the decision to unenroll our daughter, the story suddenly changed. I was told that she had only been left in the bouncer for approximately 3 minutes. That was simply not what I witnessed on the livestream camera, and I found it extremely concerning that the amount of time was being minimized when I had personally watched what happened. At that point, we no longer felt comfortable leaving our daughter in their care, so we made the decision to unenroll her that same day. I understand that caring for infants can be challenging, and I don't expect constant one-on-one attention. However, I do expect my 5-month-old to be noticed, checked on, and comforted when she is visibly screaming and crying. I also expect honesty and transparency when I raise a serious concern about my child's care. What was most upsetting was not only what I witnessed, but the lack of communication afterward and the conflicting explanation when we unenrolled. As parents, we have to trust the people caring for our children, and after this experience, that trust was completely gone. I am sharing this so other parents can make an informed decision about where they leave their babies. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this daycare.

Don't bring your child to this school!!…read more I'm a survivor of sexual abuse by a former teacher at this school district. I was in elementary school... This teacher abused students over 37 years, across seven schools in three states (TX, LA, AR). More than 30 victims have come forward, and there's a civil lawsuit pending. This teacher was never my teacher but was a bus aid on my bus. When one incident occurred with this teacher, my mom demanded his removal. However Wendy Konz(director of transportation) ignored my mom's request and still allowed him to be on my bus and the sexual abuse got worse. So when doing my own digging, I wanted to understand how the district handled him, so I filed a public records request. Here's what I learned: The district claims no investigative, disciplinary, or internal records exist. Their email servers were decommissioned in 2021, and they kept no certificates of destruction, vendor contracts, logs, or chain-of-custody documentation. Basically, decades of records that could show how the district responded or didn't to this teacher's behavior are gone. Completely. Makes me think that they deleted the email servers right when I filed the FOIA to hid their tracks. Anyways this school district is more worried about their reputation than protecting the kids. Again don't send your child to this school.

My siblings and I hired Pearl Rose Academy to evaluate my 91yo mother's driving. We had our concerns. Brandon understood and took mom on as a client. They spent 5 hours together and we ended up being reassured that all is safe for our mom, for now. Brandon called me after each lesson and gave me details about mom's skill set. Mom agreed for us to do this and she ended up loving Brandon. We will call Pearl Rose in a year or two or if we see a decline in mom's ability to be safe for herself and others on the road.As you can predict, taking away a parent's right to drive is a hard responsibility. We want mom to have the objective, professional input from Brandon so she can make her own decision when the time comes. We also have the info from Brandon to fairly and objectively determine if mom is safe on the road or not and then make the hard decision if mom decides to drive past her clear capacity to do so. Thanks, Brandon for being professional, compassionate, and smart about safe driving.
