I had an appointment with Dr. Oliverio at NC Nephrology a year ago. Wound up waiting over an hour in the exam room beyond scheduled time before he arrived late from home, with no explanation, only the briefest apology. Then, this week, the welcome desk called to ask if I'd be willing to move my 3:20 annual appointment to 2:20, as doctor was busy with a high risk appointment. I agreed, showed up early at 2:00 as demanded, to fill out papers in the exam room, awaiting the doctor. After 30 minutes, I went down the hall, asked a clerk, who went off and asked a nurse. Nurse pointed to the exam room next to mine, said I was next. Finally, 70 minutes after I arrived, at the originally scheduled 3:20, my wife still waiting to drive me home, I was seen by the doctor. He apologized briefly for being late, said there'd been an emergency patient, that someone should have informed me about my need to wait. He then went on to recommend that I cut back on my blood pressure medication as better than insuring it stayed around 135-150, that I should test my blood pressure in midday, rather than upon arising before I've had my usual morning's few cups of coffee. I'm now looking elsewhere for a nephrologist. read more
