My experience is that from the moment you walk in, until the time you leave, you are treated like a number. The place reminds me of a car dealership. Robotic, cold employees; uncaring environment, dermatology staff constantly trying to sell you unwanted and often unneeded products and procedures. They overschedule to ensure the tiny waiting room is always packed. read more

Is there a trick for getting this office to answer or respond to phone calls and messages through the online form? I have tried multiple times and have heard nothing back. I rarely if ever leave reviews but perhaps this will come to the attention of the dermatologists here so they can fix whatever is going on in their office. I came in about a rash and all of a sudden the Physician Assistant was zapping me with liquid nitrogen and I had two bad marks on my nose. From there my nose turned into a red bulbous mess and got infected. The doctor was completely absent the whole month and the reaction I got from the PA was that this was very unusual as she groped for ways to treat the increasing mess that was my nose. I had to go to my primary care physician to get proper medical treatment. I'd attach a photo but it's an ugly sight and I had to hide for a week. read more

I have had a two skin cancer surgeries at North Bay Dermatology at Lynch Creek this year. The most recent required creating two pencil eraser sized holes in the side of my nose. Dr. Centurion removed a small amount of tissue at a time, followed by biopsies done right in the office. He removed tissue until the biopsies came back 100% clean, all in about 3 hours. Between surgeries, patients wait in the office kitchen stocked with a fresh coffee maker and a spread with fresh bagels and pastries. The 3rd biopsy was cancer free and I was able to go home as I live close by. A few hours later I was called back for plastic surgery with Dr. Sommerhaug. He stitched my skin that he lifted and moved over the 2 large holes. The stitches were removed at his office 5 days later. Today is 8 days after surgery and I cannot see any any evidence of the surgery on my nose. With local anesthetic only, I experienced no pain at all during the procedures. Everyone in the office was professional, friendly, and kind to me. I can't imagine how I could have had a better experience anywhere else. read more

New patient, went in for a full body scan to make note of any moles and skin tags. Was seen by a nurse, not a doctor. She performed a biopsy right then and there. Seemed very capable. I was more than slightly pissed when I went to pick up my RX's for dry skin, dry scalp, etc. (4 RX in total) and the cost after insurance to me was over $900. What the hell? There is NO WAY I can pay that for one month, but especially not as a bi monthly refill. Who the hell can afford that? It took me 3 phone calls and 2 days without any meds for the nurse and the pharmacy to straighten it out and magically give me the equivalent meds at a fraction of the cost. This makes me super angry because if this happened to someone less determined than myself than they would refuse the medication at that price and walk away from a 200$ appointment without any hope of getting the treatment they need because they can't afford it. What I already cancelled my next appointment about is the office staff! One lady in particular gives me a really unsettled feeling. Had to call with a nurse from Blue cross who wanted to get an official diagnosis from the medical chart- this lady made sure to let me know- before revealing any information that I had a balance due! Are you kidding me? I was there 2 weeks ago- haven't even gotten your bill yet! They way she said it made me feel pressured to pay it right then. On top of everything with the meds, I just think I would be happier elsewhere. read more

Wonder why such a bad rap. I have gone to see Erin for years. The new lady at the desk--while not the most tech savvy--is sweet and a great addition. Someone messed up our appointments but they sorted it out. In past years...they have not billed me and then when I come in say, "you owe money" and I'm shocked-huh? However, at the end of the day I'm there for a look see by a good practitioner-- and that's what Erin is. read more

Went there for a peeling plaque that was on my face., and skin examination They did a scraping and sent it off, but in two visits I NEVER SAW A DOCTOR. I did request to see one, but said they were unavailable. They kept me waiting 45 minutes, and a nurse saw me for about 5 minutes. There were 5 people sitting around the office shooting the breeze. I have been going to this office for several years now and have usually had to wait for my appointment 10-15 mins. I went last Mon for a 9:15 appointment and arrived at 9:10. I was very soon taken to an examination room where I undressed. After 25 mins, it was now 9:40, having seen nobody since being shown to the examination room I dressed and left. Extremely unprofessional behavior. I did have to return two days later for an unrelated matter and asked to speak to the office manager. They do not have one. I then asked the receptionist who I registered a complaint with. She asked me what the problem was. I gave her my message and of course I have had no response. This is the worst dermatologist ever! They lie right to your face do unnecessary procedures so they can hike up your bill and charge you an arm and a leg, I was having a little bit of skin cancer mark removed from my arm and all of the sudden they are scrapping my nose which had nothing wrong with it she said looks like there might be something there WELL nothing was there! My point to this is I asked, you are taking a chunk off the top of my nose will this heal and I won't see a hole in my nose...she guaranteed me it would heal and I wouldn't even notice I asked for the Dr. and even the Dr. said don't worry you won't be able to see anything 2 years later I have a deep hole in the bridge of my nose that never closed or healed! I wrote them a letter explaining my issue not a call not one message they just wanted their money!!! read more

There is no negotiating, there is no heart, there is no effort to hear my need. With an appointment a whole week away, I called saying I am desperate with what might be hives all over my body or scabies or an allergy to one of my meds. All I know is I need only a few minutes for the doc to look and prescribe something! I am in a great deal of discomfort and was told to go to the emergency room if it is that bad. I asked could I get on a cancellation list? Is there any way I could be squeezed in for 10 minutes? I am not a new patient. With attitude lacking compassion I was told that there was no way I could be accommodated, and I could go to the hospital or my primary care doc ( who lives a good distance away in another town). These people are a reflection of the doctor and his attitude. I think I am on my way elsewhere. read more

I had a great experience with North Bay Dermatology. In particular, Cindy, in their office is amazing! I am a new patient and needed some advice after breaking out in a rash from something I came in contact with recently. It was Friday and I was worried abut going out of town without treatment. Cindy was willing to fit me in at the last minute on Friday, during the holidays, and said to follow up with her on Monday if all was not better. Everything turned out fine in my case but I am so glad that I had North Bay Dermatology as a resource. They were 1000% accommodating, understanding, and helpful! Amazing customer service! read more

I went to see Dr. Centurion last year to have two moles removed. The first question I asked was 'will my insurance cover this'. He said they would look into it, and came back when schedule the return visit to remove them, telling 'We talked to your insurance and they're going to cover it. A couple of months after the procedure, I started getting payment notices from North Bay Dermatology saying that my insurance was not responding. Upon further investigation my insurance made it clear that they did NOT cover this, and weren't going to pay. So I have no doubt that the office never even contacted my insurance. What do they care, except to do the procedure, knowing that if my insurance doesn't pay, then they'll come after me, which they did. So in the end I had to pay over $1000 for something that I wouldn't have had done had I known my insurance wasn't going to pay. As far as I'm concerned, North Bay Dermatology is not to be trusted. read more

I feel very fortunate to have found this office after moving to Petaluma. Everyone was very polite and caring and treated me as a friend. There was a mix-up with my insurance and they were very patient and helped get it resolved without asking for a payment from me. Unfortunately we moved out of state and I have lost one of the best dermatologists I ever had and miss my friends in the office. read more

Wow, I'm shocked! This place will NOT give pricing for laser hair removal over the phone. Was told by Petaluma office "policy is to come in for a $140 consultation" before they will give a price. But don't worry, if you end up buying a package they will take $70 off the price(gee thanks). Are you kidding me? The doctors are good, quick visits and we felt very rushed each time we went in. But after treatment is complete for this current issue I will look for another office. The girls at the desk are rude and impatient on the phone and in person. They tisk and sigh and act imposed upon, often they don't acknowledge you when you enter the room, and also get upset that we didn't go for lab work prior to appointment! I met with Tracy for a cosmetic dermatology consult. Was seen back very close to my original appointment time. Tracy was extremely warm and welcoming. After doing a photo analysis of my skin and asking me very thorough questions about my skin care regimen, she took a lot of time explaining to me the different options available to me to address my main concerns. I felt like she really listened and was truly interested in helping me have the healthiest skin possible for a woman my age. I decided to start a series of peels. Tracy took her time with the procedure and also included treatment of my neck, which was a nice surprise. She was very thorough with aftercare instructions and made product recommendations, but was not pushy in the least. I am looking forward to going back and building a relationship with Tracy, this office and the Drs. when needed. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because the online registering system was very confusing and didn't work. read more

Knowing nothing about her and having no prior experience with a dermatologist, I went to see Calamia Rae for adult asian acne. She gave me an antibiotic and 2 different kinds of tubes to apply morning and night. Retin-A was one of the tubes. My acne cleared up - the first time in my whole life!!!! What a miracle. I have battled it all my life. Only problem... is it has since come back. Not as bad as before but.... so she told me the body becomes immune to the antibiotics and I might have to take birth control pills. I have no reason to take birth control pills normally... and I've heard bad things about birth control pills so I'm not sure I want to take this next step. I think I'll get a second opinion. But she was kind, patient and was one doctor who actually listened! Most doctors like to tell you how it is and don't like to listen. She was above average. read more
