I'm kind of annoyed that they are putting Canadian made stickers on US products, and are taking…read morenon-US products I like off the shelves. Take hand soap for instance, which is just what I noticed last. The shelves are full of basically the same stuff, yet they just removed all the Pears hand soap (which is not made in the US), and was one of the more unique ones.

After spending some time at Georgian Mall last Saturday, I needed to get some groceries. There are…read moremany grocery stores near this mall. I did a quick search on my map app and saw Zehrs. During this pandemic, one of many positives has been finding new grocery stores to frequent. I have enjoyed my experiences at a few Zehrs in the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge area, but have never been to a Zehrs away from this trifecta. I decided to drive a bit further (a whopping three minutes more by car) to visit this store. This Zehrs is in North Barrie Crossing Shopping Centre (it's essentially a plaza with box stores). It reminded me of the shopping plaza in Ajax where you have to go up a bit of a hill to get to the stores. It's enjoyable on a clear day, but it could be problematic with freezing rain on the ground. There was plenty of parking. I got a prime spot steps away from the entrance. I walked in and was happy. The area with two different types of shopping carts greeted me. It looked so clean and organized. I got a smaller cart and wheeled it in. I liked the prepared food section. I couldn't help but to salivate over sausage rolls, empanadas, samosas, ... basically, this entire display case was taunting me to get everything baked and fried. I stuck with my gameplan and walked away from it. I do need to get some next time. I had a few items on my shopping list. They were all found walking the perimeter of this store. I found them rather quickly: - Ground beef - Ground veal - Broth (veggie and beef) I had a meatball soup recipe that I wanted to make it. Getting ground veal has been more of an effort to find, but I got lean ground veal easily from this store. The lean ground beef was right next to it. Nice! A few steps over were the no-name beef and veggie broth boxes. I can't remember going with this brand for broth. I typically get the reduced salt version, but I wanted to be a regular human being for a change and got them. This Zehrs is probably the smallest one that I've visited, but I like it. It has everything that I need and like, including an amazing frozen foods and dessert aisle. The Joe Fresh section is located next to the checkout area. It's deadly! You can literally grab a scarf and pay for it immediately. I like that there's a screen that visually and audibly lets you know the number of the next checkout counter that is available for you to head over to. I had a nice man helping me out with cashing my items out. I declined getting a plastic bag. I paid with my debit card and scanned my PC Optimum barcode from my phone. Done and done! I had a great experience shopping here. Barrie has three other Zehrs locations, which makes me happy. I'd return to this one when I'm in the area again. (406)
