The atmosphere is charming and it's located in a nice, safe neighborhood close to nice hotels. But why the mediocre rating? The service was terrible! From the moment I got there, I had to wait to be seated. A scowling young woman who didn't bother to say good evening and seemed annoyed that it was only a party of one, to the waiter who barely crossed to words with me other than to acknowledge my order and recommend a wine (which he got wrong the first time, although when he got me request for a red it truly was an excellent choice) were just one of the negatives. Then when it came time to leave, it was another long wait until what appeared to be the owner or head waiter finally requested my check, which also brought another set of eye rolls when I asked for separate checks for food and wine. Why I annoyed them I don't know. I was in a business suit, having gone there straight from a series of business meetings. Was it that I wasn't a native Portuguese speaker? Well, SP is an international city. Overall, I was made to feel very uncomfortable and as much as I enjoyed the meal, wine and atmosphere, I will not go back or recommend it. It was simply an unpleasant experience.

They have some wonderfully unique wines that can't be found most anywhere else. The service is great, but it is more European. You won't get your main course before you finish the appetizer. The cheese plate had all local cheeses (five different ones) and was served with walnuts and some jam; it was delicious. The fig salad was a little dry. The arancini were 4 to an order and a nice size. They were crispy on the outside and tasty in the inside. I liked the frites, maybe a little too much! I didn't try my friend's steak but she said it was good. The staff recommended a very good white wine. Tip: don't sit at the second table past the bar on the right after the wait station in the seat against the wall; there is a door that is frequently used by the staff and they will keep hitting your chair.

One which still shows up on Google. We Ubered to the old location and spent a while trying to find a restaurant that is no longer more. My Brazil guidebook touched on their lunch buffet. That is no more at the new location either. The current location is inside a museum. You have to pay admission to the museum to dine at the restaurant. Even if you have no interest in checking out the museum. Safe to say, we were off to a rocky start. Things did turn around magically, however. Admission to the museum pays to help preserve the Amazon. At least our money was going to a good cause. Sustainability is a theme here as you see sustainable materials being used throughout the restaurant. We were seated on the lovely patio which is made to recreate the Amazon with a lot of greenery and trees. I started off with a fresh juice as I looked over the menu. I ordered the pork cutlet with tomato risotto. It may have been my favorite dish on my Brazil trip. The pork was succulent and flavorful. The risotto mirrored it as the fresh tomatoes and combination of ingredients made it arguably the best risotto I've ever had. Service was good. Capim Santo is not cheap. And we ran into a couple of frustrating roadblocks. But with that being said, I can't fail to applaud the restaurant for the quality of its food and the lovely surroundings.
