Smile Lounge - Nice chairs, but not exciting

First time in this lounge. It is not the best but by no means the worst I have had the pleasure of…read moreusing. There are plenty of seats, although you have to tell people that the seats are for people not for their bags...however precious they maybe. There is a limited supply of food. This encompassed pastries, rolls and soup, how I craved a packet of crisps! The selection of liquid refreshments is good with all your standard hot beverages, would it kill them to add hot chocolate to the roster? The cold drinks are comprised of the usual suspects from the fizzy drinks world alongside Brahma (the Brazilian beer) some vodka, wine, whisky and a sparkling wine. On entrance the staff tell you they do not announce flights and to check the screen. This is my bug bare they only have one screen to check on and it is located right next to the entrance door. So if you are sat at the far end up you get to go and check the screen, please get a couple more!! They have TV's on the wall but I have no idea what programmes were being shown or what language they were in. There was some reading material on offer but I think these were in Portuguese. The rest room (I can only speak about the men's) could use a little freshen up and the locks on the cubicles well it might be good if they worked. There is free wifi within the lounge however I found the airport free wifi covered the lounge and provided a better speed. On the whole not the best and not the worst but as a weary traveller with 3 hours to kill the Smile lounge was a welcome place to get a comfy chair...as all travellers know being able to get a comfortable seat in an airport is like heaven itself if you have hours to kill between flights!!

I loved the concept of this store - a wine shop that lets you hang out and enjoy a glass or a…read morebottle before, during or after picking out your bottles. The store is organized by region with the largest variety coming from Spain, Chile and Argentina. Clearly the management likes Spanish wines best. They give courses here and do events, though I've never been and can't really comment. I have some issues with the execution. This is Brazil, so obviously it gets crazy hot. This store is all open air, so it seems your carefully created bottles are not being kept climate controlled. I guess this probably also happens when you transport wine in this country, but most wine shops here are kept at a more palatable temperature. They have only a few bottles kept in the fridge at the appropriate temperature for drinking, and none of them were white wine which is usually what I prefer for an afternoon sip. They also offer glasses of wine, but they didn't seem to have marked the bottle with the open date nor did they use one of the corks that removes air from the bottle to keep from over oxidizing (typical problem here). Having given the shop a once over, I asked the clerk if they had any Spanish Tempranillo, nope and no suggestions for a similar bottle. I ended up with a Verdejo which I found myself no thanks to her. They seriously need to step up their wine game here. I would not pay for classes from them though it could be a fun place to come with friends especially while waiting for a table at Naga or Nakka. The cheapest wine bottle I saw was R$72 but most were around R$150. Not cheap unless you are thinking in current exchange rate terms. The place is still under a year old so hopefully they improve their selection and step up their training.
