Just a short walk from the beach and surrounded by local eatery's, this gem of hotel is located at the more "local" end of the bay with a easy 25 minute walk from the city center. We were impressed with the attention to detail by staff and especially the bartender Lina at the restaurant. The workout room is large but you do have to walk outside to get to it. The room itself had amazing pillows and a wonderful rain shower and soaking tub with a separate room for the toilet. It also had duo sinks. If you're looking for a luxury stay in a quite part of town and still near the beach then you have found your spot.

This massive-looking hotel dominates the neighborhood (photo: http://bit.ly/2BdnjB3), and it was probably a solid half-hour walk to the Old Town where we were told the action was with Monte Urgull a bit further than that. Thank goodness Jamie W. and I had our Fitbit watches on us because after all, those steps wouldn't have counted otherwise. Right? The very contemporary hotel looked like it attracted quite a few business travelers and tour groups because the front desk was constantly grilled by endless interrogations. At $167 per night, our double superior room was a little more premium priced than we were hoping, but there's no denying that this city is a top tourist destination for vacationing Europeans. It was spacious and quiet since our room was off a residential street (photo: http://bit.ly/2BY1HVU). The location was convenient to Funicular de Igueldo, which was the first excursion we took after settling in. It's a comfortable, fairly stylish hotel if you don't mind a hike before your Old Town pinxto crawl.

What a great hotel!…read more We stayed at the Mercure while visiting San Sebastian and loved everything about it. It's location is phenomenal! Perched high on a hill, overlooking the stunning Concha Bay, an 'ocean-view' room is a must while staying here. The rooms are so quiet and comfortable and the bathrooms are huge! The best part is definitely the outdoor patio area where guests can dine, drink, or just relax while taking in everything great San Sebastian has to offer. I highly recommend dining at the main restaurant, El Torreon, as the food is incredible! You must must must try the lobster ravioli! It is the best I have ever had! Bar Belle Epoque is a cozy spot to grab a drink - big, comfy, leather chairs and floor to ceiling windows create quite an enjoyable atmosphere. And, the Karrusel Gastro Bar is a casual spot to have breakfast, coffee, or a beer while relaxing outside on the scenic patio. 5 stars for the awesome Mercure Monte Igueldo Hotel!

The desk staff is very friendly and speaks English fluently. The staff saved us from a trip to the mountains to find a restaurant that they quickly determined was closed. There's internet service in the rooms. Cons: Our room had an odd lay-out including one very high window in one room and a nearly floor level window in the main bedroom. This provided the unique opportunity to flash people in the parking lot three floors below as you changed clothes. The sofa was broken and even after I fixed it you felt like you were being swallowed. The hair dryer was broken. The air conditioner SUCKED! What did come out of the air conditioner smelled weird. The property is surrounded on all sides by fairly large roads so trying to cool things down by opening the windows makes for a loud night. On the day we arrived they had rented their banquet rooms to a large party so as we were heading out to dinner 10 bus fulls of retired Spaniards were flooding in. For some reason they attached the long side of the bunk beds to the wall but left the head of the bed a full 18 inches from its wall. That means that if your precious little one manages to wiggle forward in the middle of the night they may take a 5 foot dive off the head of the bed. The check-out process was so achingly slow you had time to ponder the world, your place in it, the depth and span of time and still have plenty of opportunity to track the sun's arch through the sky. The prints in the foyer of each floor have been in place so long that the print has separated from the matting and fallen out of place. The fact that no one noticed or bothered to fix it says something about their attention to detail.

After stopping the gas station to fill up, I was told you can enter from the gas station side or it's about 10 meter after taking the 3rd roundabout exit. GPS is not helpful at all. Our room comes with free breakfast which is in the basement and not in the main dining around but you must get a cafe from the bar which is like 1.5 euro. Room is nothing to brag about but it's clean and huge for NYC standard. Our accommodation just kept improving on our 14 days trip :D Service is wonderful and very attentive to all your needs. It's quick drive to a lot of fishing town in the around and skip the toll highway to get a good view.

The check in was quick and easy and the staff were helpful and polite. They have the most adorable themed lobby/lounge with a great selection of movies to rent with your night's stay! We spent some time just hanging out in the lounge, writing postcards. It was super cozy. There's also a computer station in case you need to do some last minute planning or ticket purchases. We opted for the parking so we could forget about the car and just walk everywhere. It's a pretty short walk to Old Town and the beach. There's also a great little market/store a block down ( Don Serapio) that sells fresh pastries and jamón sandwiches. The hotel room was nice- although oddly shaped. The bathroom was extremely clean and spacious. The rest of the room was pretty standard, besides being very contemporary. The bed was comfortable enough and we had several lighting options. If you're looking for a nice and updated hotel with a cool theme, this is it. Everyone was very friendly and we had no trouble renting several movies during our stay. It's pretty close to everything and we had no trouble walking everywhere. I'd definitely stay here again.

As returning guests who have…read morebeen coming to this beautiful city for our anniversary for the past 11 years, we were excited to try out a new hotel that we had heard great things about. However, our experience at Zenit has been far from satisfactory. Right from check-in, we encountered issues with our key not working multiple times. This was frustrating and not the kind of welcome we were hoping for. We flew in from an other portion of our vacation and arrived at 11am and was told check in is not until 2pm but we could leave our phone number ,when the room is ready they will call us, no call ever received. Return to the hotel at 4pm expecting to waltz into our room. They had the same 20 min problem in finding our reservation they had at 11am and the room still did not have the extra bed ready at 4pm. Furthermore, despite specifically requesting a room with privacy and a view, we were given a room located just a few doors down from the elevator with a view of a neighboring apartment complex (photo attached). This was not the romantic setting we had hoped for on our special anniversary trip. We noticed a few days before our arrival date that larger rooms, with a bathtub vs just a shower, had become available and asked if we could book one of those when we arrived, at our added expense. We were told no, even after we explained we were willing to change rooms mid booking of our 7 night stay. We booked directly through the hotel and it seemed they were very unwilling to make this stay even the slightest bit special. Additionally, in all our years of staying in San Sebastián, this is the first hotel that did not even acknowledge our anniversary. No congratulations, no special touches in the room - nothing. While I know it's small every other hotel has given a piece of cake or chocolate and bottle of Cava. It was disappointing. The room did not have coffee (a little crazy in Spain )but did provide tea bags. We used the tea bags, expecting them to be replenished, but after 4 days, they have not been restocked

It was about a 20 minute walk or 5 minute taxi ride to the center of town. The building, British in style, was built as a family home in the 19th century and forms part of the Historical Heritage of the City of San Sebastián. The hotel keeps the spirit of the period intact, with its large lounges, high ceilings, fireplaces, and a carved wooden staircase. The 25 room villa really felt more like a home than a hotel. We stayed in room 24 which had a charming window with a beautiful garden view. The room was spacious, laden with dark wood which added to the sense of being in a luxurious country side home. Our room on the 2nd floor opened to a beautiful foyer with a huge overhead skylight that allowed natural lighting to flow in. There was an elevator but we only used it twice to bring luggage up and down. Otherwise we chose to use the beautiful carved wooden staircase to immerse ourselves in the essence of the hotel. The restaurant/bar, Eguzki Soro, had the appearance of a country side British bar. Breakfast came with the room and was served there. There was a small menu for lunch and dinner. Outside dining also available. Wonderful staff who helped us with directions and recommendations for places to eat. Big shout out to JM in the bar and Virginia and John at the front desk for going out of their way to give us directions and some gems that we wouldn't have discovered on our own. We would love to stay there again on our next visit. Happy Travels!!

I didn't time it, but I definitely think it was farther--at least 30 and I'm a very fast walker. And not super fun in the rain. (And it does rain here--a lot). It's not in a very convenient location. That said, they do have complimentary bikes, and it took about 10 minutes to ride to Old Town (ride on the sidewalk until you can pick up the bike path). We took the bikes all over, really, which was really helpful in exploring some of the spots farther away. (Though be warned--these are beach cruisers--no gears!) They also provide locks, and you can keep the bikes out all day. You can also take a bus for around 2 Euros into town, though bus service at night is infrequent. For example, when we left dinner one night at 10:30pm and walked 10 min to the bus stop, it said that the next number 14 bus would come at 11:21pm. Maybe we could have taken a different bus, but it was hard to figure out. So we wound up walking back--maybe about a mile and a half in total? Here's the upside. The lobby and sitting room off the lobby is lovely. We sat and had a glass of wine and olives and had great conversation with some of the other guests. The beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms beautiful, stocked with Molton Brown bath products. Since the water in San Sebastián isn't safe for Americans to drink, they give a few complimentary bottles of bottled water. The service is wonderful--the staff really goes out of their way to make you feel at home. Breakfast is very complete and very good. And served in a beautiful room. If I return to San Sebastián, the only way I would stay here again is if they offered complimentary rides for guests to and from Old Town. That's all that's missing to make this a 5-star experience. Otherwise I would choose a place in Old Town to make it easy to get to all the restaurants, shopping, beach, museum, etc... Oh, and if you do decide to book, request a room in the main house. Apparently they're more charming.
