Even if it looks okay when you leave, it will have fur on it the next day. Or if you open it, it will be molded or rotten. When you walk in the door, you immediately smell old fermented moldy produce. If you want to take a chance on getting a parasite, or spend money just to throw away- here's your place! Rotten tomatoes for .69 lb or non rotten ones in the back for $2 lb. The cashier seems to always know which are rotten and which ones you got that don't look okay rotten! If there is no price, they will charge you the highest price they can get away with. I always put the item back. Cash only so there's no evidence of you getting sick. If you use credit you have to pay their up charge. I've witnessed an employee being scolded for talking to a customer who should have maintained being tethered to the back. The sign outside may say Large pumpkins $1.99. When you get inside they are tiny and rotten stems. Not fresh cut. Dried out gords are $2.99 ea. I throw out more food than I find the diamond in the ruff. Sometimes you get lucky - carrots! The best time to come here is before a holiday when they order some fresh produce for a holiday.

Around Halloween, I decided that I wanted to go to a pumpkin patch. I was looking online trying to…read morefind a pumpkin patch in the area and came across Merrillville Farms' facebook page. I called to confirm they were open, typed the address into my phone, and off we went. When we pulled up to the farm we were confused because there were no cars and there were children playing outside of a house. We asked if we had the correct address and one of the owners, Ginger, told us we did and that she would give us a ride on her tractor out to the pumpkin patch. She dropped us in the patch and told us to come back when we had our pumpkins. It was really fun, we had the whole pumpkin patch to ourselves. We came back with one big pumpkin, two medium sized pumpkins, and two small pumpkins. The total was $9. We talked with Ginger for a while and she told us that they have seasonal crops for the picking. They have blueberries, tomatoes and other fruits and vegetables that you can just go and pick during the summer. I definitely will be back to do that. Also, they sell fresh eggs. I can't remember the exact price, but they were super affordable. I am happy that we found this place and am looking forward to picking things in the spring.

This new Market has longer hours and a more expansive location to make it easier for people to attend. It is now located at the 143rd METRA Station in Orland Park...roughly one block west of LaGrange Road at 142nd Street. The Market is held on Thursdays only...from May 25 to August 31. Hours are from 4pm to 8pm. If you happened to be a METRA rider, you will find the Market as soon as you jump off the train at night. Besides adding some live entertainment at this location, the number of vendors is expected to grow substantially as customers find the site. Right now there are about two dozen vendors. The vendors are much like those that were visiting the old Farmer's Market, but this location will eventually attract many additional vendors. Food and food trucks, notions, candles, honey, fresh fruit and vegetables, and many Orland Park businesses are here. For example, the University of Chicago medical people are represented ... even more so because they have a new four story facility just a couple hundred feet away. This new Market is worth trying...it is just one more example of the Village trying to upgrade its offerings to the public. Recommended.

Not only did I get my sweet corn, I picked up a few apples, some hot peppers and a few onions. Just Picked reminded me not only of the farm stands we visited as kids, but also it brought back memories of our Sunday rides out to the country when we were kids. Keep in mind that when I was a kid, lots of Tinley and Orland was still 'the country'. Just Picked had a great selection, nice prices, and best of all's, I got my sweet corn.
