Ai was always a good guy; for a long time, he was THE mechanic in town; I wouldn't let anybody else lay a wrench on my car. If I broke down while far away, I'd just pay a tow truck to tow my car to Al's Shop. I wouldn't let anybody lay a wrench on any car of mine.
One day, my Mother rescued a kitten that was wandering on a road around here; she pulled over, scooped up the kitten, after chasing it for a long time, and took it home. The kitten was so traumatized that it crawled and hid in the car and wouldn't come out. We tried to get him out for a long time... a couple of hours. We couldn't really tell where the kitten was. Finally, we just gave up; we set out some food and water, and turned in for the night. The next day, we opened the car, checked the food and water, which didn't appear to have been touched. Meanwhile, Mr. Kitty continued to yowl, but he still wouldn't come out.
We didn't know what else to do, so we brought the car to Al's Garage; he tried to get the cat out of hiding, but had no better luck than we'd had. He finally found where the cat was... deep into the Dashboard. Al tried to reach in and grab the cat, but he had no luck. Finally, he just told us that he'd have to take the Dashboard out of the car, which he did. He spent several hours but finally got the cat out. He gave us the cat, re-installed the Dashboard, and sent us home. He wouldn't take a penny for his hours of work. Coo Coo Cat lived with us for 21 years. read more
