We had great service from Minter and Sons after our AC motor blew over Labor Day weekend. We called on Saturday evening and they came out on Sunday morning to check our unit. Initially things seemed ok, but later on Sunday evening the unit stopped working and our house was heating up pretty quickly. We have 2 young kids, and they weren't able to sleep. We called back and Will came out last minute around 7p and replaced the motor for a price we thought was fair! Our A/C is working great now and actually cooling the house even better than before. I had them scheduled to come between 12p and 2pm and at 1:22p I received a phone call that I unfortunately was not able to answer immediately. I listened to the voicemail asking if someone was home (which yes, they were!) and called the number right back, WITHIN 4 minutes after receiving the first call and the rude man on the phone informed me that they already sent that technician to another job and that I would have to wait another two hours for service. I could not believe that they didn't wait even a few minutes for a callback before moving on. He was awful to deal with and I WILL NEVER CALL THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING EVER AGAIN! Well this is probably the worst company I've ever used in my life. DO NOT use Minter and Sons. They had a service tech come out who was BEYOND rude. Then come to find out the woman who scheduled my service scheduled me for the wrong thing. When I called back to explain why I was upset the owner got on the phone and proceeded to be the stupidest man I've ever talked to in my life. No matter how many times I explained to him that the service that was scheduled was not what I had asked for, he just kept saying over and over and over and over "the Order just says tune and clean." I'm like bro, I don't work for you, I have no idea what the order says or what your employees wrote down, that information was not conveyed to me or I would have explained further what I was wanting. I'm so frustrated at this point and trying really hard to keep my cool. The frustration is apparent and so his 'sane' response is to ask me if I'm ok and tell me that I'm being mean. I'm like dude, is this seriously how you're going to talk to me and think that I'm going to continue business with y'all? I didnt drop the ball, your employees did. BIG TIME. So I ask him, who are you? What is your position in the company and he's like, oh I'm the owner. Well Minter, your son Jason is a much better businessman than you are and maybe you should literally never speak to clients. Used them to repair a HVAC unit several years ago. A young man came to fix the unit but did not have the experience to find out what was wrong. I called to tell them it still did not work and have someone else come out to look at the unit. The owner came out to my business with the young man to look at what was wrong. He was a complete jerk and acted as if it was my fault the young man did not fix the unit. He then fixed it in 1/3 the time the young man had spent. But, I was stunned that he acted that way he did. They advertise themselves as a Christian business. These people make Christians everywhere look bad. It is an embarrassment as a Christian to have people like them advertise they are a part of our faith, But, I guess there are jerks everywhere. Minter & Sons have been servicing my HVAC system for many years. This year, however, they don't seem to be able to fix the problem. A technician has been here twice this week, but it is still warm in my house. It was 82 degrees at 11:30 pm last night and it is 78 degrees this morning before 8:00 am. No complaints here. Seem to be honest, and technicians do well explaining and getting job done. Had a bad contactor (arch welded closed and I saw it was), replaced, worked great for few weeks then had a different issue with compressor intermittently starting up. Called them back out and I was with the tech and found a wire insulation deteriorated with bare wire. Tech replaced wire and unit runs great, and no charge for repair or follow up call. I am impressed with their service and have no complaints. I would recommend them. read more

Quoted $1850.00 for a job under warranty they installed just five years before. Job done elsewhere for under $300.00. Beware, They dishonestly hide their prices by adding additional markup to the cost of their parts. They came and replaced a faulty capacitor for me last week. I paid $89.95 for the service call. I figured that this was the cost that they need to charge for their overhead, and was not going to argue with it. However, when they charged $172 for replacing a capacitor, I draw the line. I expect some markup, but this is outrageous! They insist that they are honest, but honest people don't mark up their prices that much. I can find the part online in many sites for under $15, with the average being $25 and the rip-offs around $30. I would expect a technician to double or even triple their cost, but this is ridiculous! read more

Had my AC serviced as it went out on a hot day. Kudos for getting out to us and replacing the motor within hours of calling. However hours before they came out my thermostat worked perfectly fine. After they leave its stuck on 70 and clearly doesn't read temperature. Called to follow up and I'm told it's just broken and I need to replace it. The issue I have, however, was what I was charged -- $260.95; $89.95 for the service charge and $171.00 for a 40/440 dual capacitor. Jeff, the person currently answering the telephone and dispatching technicians, informed me that this was "flat rate." Even though I can buy the part for $19.10 (plus tax) from the local Grainger Supply as a walk-in retail customer. A capacitor is not a difficult item to diagnose with a multimeter or replace (remove the service cover and unplug the old capacitor and plug in the new one). I have a hard time understanding how a $20 part becomes $171 through any "flat rate" process, particularly when I had the entire fan and capacitor replaced on my old A/C unit a few years ago -- ON A WEEKEND -- for less than this charge today. To start, we never had a problem with their service until a couple of weeks ago. On a Saturday we needed some emergency repair and we have a maintenance contract. To sum it up, 3 phone numbers and 2 messages later, no responses. We finally called Edmond Air who ANSWERED their phone and had someone available to send out. As of 12/06/12, still no acknowledgment from Minter & Sons that they dropped the ball. We're pretty passive customers. We talk with our wallet. They failed to measure, so the system they brought would not fit in our attic. Due to their mistake, they charged us an additional $1000. They lied about it later. These guys way overcharge, they came out and said they needed to order a part, said it would take 7-10 days to get part, 21 days later I called, they said they had the part, but they told me the tech that came to my home the first time said the service call was not a priority, so they were just waiting until they had time. Finally came out, spent 20 minutes replacing part coupled with the 30 minutes they were here the first time, charged me $655 and the unit still didn't work. Called them back to see when they could come back and a man named Jeff got irate with me and said we are through discussing this and hung up on me. I kept asking Jeff if he could provide me an invoice that broke down the charges, all he kept saying was they don't charge like that, they charge a flat fee. Minter and Son's is about 2 miles from my house in Edmond, so I figure that between both calls including drive time they have about 1 hour in this call. I checked on the part, retail pricing on the part is about $90. With the $90 service call that breaks down to $475 an hour for labor. I ended up having to call another A/C company, they diagnosed the problem, which wasn't even the problem Minter fixed, in about 15 minutes. They had to tear down the whole unit, it took about two hours to complete, They charged me a total of $250 for two hours of labor.
