People were stationed at the entrance to also help guide you to where you need to be, 2 different people were so kind to make sure I knew where I was going. Arrived to my court room and the officer taking attendance was very helpful as he told me I needed to talk to the clerk to see why I wasn't on the docket. I approached the clerk who was very welcoming and helpful, she printed out my new court date, apparently my attorney's office was on vacation so the date was changed. Over all clean courtroom, plenty of parking out front, $5 for 4 hours.

I didn't expect this to be a fun filled day, but a review is still necessary. From the start, I was annoyed I couldn't find the "H" parking lot to use my jury duty free parking coupon from my jury summons letter. I thought it was just me. I ended up using the parking directly across from the building. There were plenty of spots when I arrived at 8:34 AM. My duty didn't start until 9:30 AM, but lucky me, I was early - heavy eye roll! The first parking meter closest to my spot that I attempted to use was broken. Nothing showed up on the screen to start my ticket purchase. I walked to the next meter in the middle of the lot. Anyone wanna guess if it worked. Correct, it did not! I moved a couple steps over and tried the third one. Finally! A working meter! Thankfully it wasn't raining, but even at 8:30ish AM in Houston, it is still hot. I was not pleased I had to try so many meters. $5.00 for 4 hours or $10.00 for the whole day. I opted for the whole day since I had no idea what time I would end up being released. I walked back to my car and placed the ticket on my dash. I also took a photo of it to have on my phone just in case. As I entered the building, I was greeted and told to remove my shoes. I get it, but the mat I had to walk on, while barefoot, was so dirty. I finally got my belongings and headed to the jury waiting room. The jury administrator was kind. I handed her my summons and she asked if I parked in "H". I told her I couldn't find it, but that I did self-pay in the lot across the street. Then, I took my seat. As more people entered, I kept hearing them say they too could not find "H". Phew! It wasn't just me. I heard at least 7 or 8 people say they couldn't find the free juror parking lot. We eventually were told about the process and due to the low number of cases, we would probably be released BEFORE lunch time. The judge swore us in and we started our long day of sitting. We were free to come and go and use devices. A bathroom is located directly outside the juror room. Down the hallway is a little area with multiple vending machines. I was surprised the prices weren't crazy expensive. One vending machine takes Apple Pay via your iPhone, so that was cool. The other machines took cash, coins, and credit cards. You are allowed to eat and drink in the juror room. In fact, most people had their own drinks they brought along with backpacks, and a couple people even had a lunch kit. I had no idea you could bring all that. I will be more prepared next time. As lunch time came and we were all still there, we were dismissed for an hour to get a bite to eat. A food service called Fooda was in the vending machine area with 3 types of chicken options at $15.14 each after tax. The serving portion was large, but the taste was not that great. I got the curry chicken. Maybe I should have gotten something else. We returned to the room for more waiting. No one ever got called and we finally got released at 3:10 PM. All this for traffic court and only $6.00 paid for the service. After my gas, mileage, time away from work, parking at $10.00, 2 waters at $2.00 each, lunch at $15.14, and my snack at $1.35, a $6.00 pay is insulting. And again, all for traffic court?? The people who don't want to pay their ticket put all of our day on hold. Maybe I don't understand it fully, so maybe it should be explained better. My suggestion would be to have the free parking more identifiable, fix your meters, lower the price of parking if not using the free lot, clean the entrance mat, offer free bottled water, offer one free snack in AM and one free snack in the PM, lower the price of your lunch service, and up the price on what is paid to the juror. My time is valuable as I know everyone else's is too. It's a hard hit on people who are trying to do the right thing.

The Northside of Houston is magical, and I don't mean in terms of traffic or crime, but I do mean in terms of food and culture, as it is one of the most heavily Hispanic neighbourhoods, and in other parts it's one of the most African-American parts of Houston. And so the culture and food in all of these areas is rich and amazing, even as the demographics are poor, and the highway through here - Interstate 45 - is truly and statistically a death trap. Dallas and Houston nothing alike. HOU has more in common with Queens (NYC) and L.A. than Dallas. It is criminally underrated, nearly as pretty as San Antonio, way cooler than Austin and Dallas. One of the most ethnically diverse, exciting cities in the world. With the food to prove it. This place is way the heck out there and is actually a police station! As it was originally built for and still is a police station, things get weird for jurors from here on out... The purpose of this court is to provide jury trials for those who wish to contest minor offenses like very minor assaults (pushing people), traffic moving violations, etc. Therefore, you will only be needed for one business day. SCORE! ARRIVAL TIME: They request that you be promptly there at 9am, but the guy who manages jurors is super friendly and is understanding if you get there at 9 WITHOUT that form filled out. UPON ARRIVAL: You will encounter a security guard and a metal detector. They will have you pass TSA-style sans shoes through that detector and inspect whatever you brought with you. JUROR WAITING ROOM: They have a super tiny room in which they keep about 2 dozen jurors who have also been summoned. There are only two AC units, and so it can get stuffy. There's hardly any room to walk, but you'll survive. They have a TV in the corner of the room that softly plays CNN. REFRESHMENTS / BATHROOM: I'm sure there is a bathroom. I didn't check it out and therefore can't review. Outside of the juror waiting room are two vending machines -- one for sodas and water, one for mainly junk food snacks. Bring some pocket change. THE COURTROOM: We were called into the court room at 11am. (So, note to self, bring something to do or to read.) We were promptly notified by the Honorable Judge that we would not be needed as jurors for the remainder of the day, that she had been able to settle anything without needing jurors. As it is a police station, there is a huge pylon in the middle of the courtroom that may make it hard for you to see the judge... EXIT PROCESS: We then were escorted out of the room. The guy who manages jurors met us. He had us sign something that acknowledged we showed. You can choose to get a $6 check in the mail as compensation or choose to have it donated back to the City of Houston, but not as a tax write-off. This guy will give you a certificate of gratitude for your time and can fill out an excuse for work, if need be. SPECIAL NOTE -- PLEASE READ: This guy said that even if you serve the Municipal Courts, that does not exempt you from serving at the Downtown Court for more complex (read: lengthier) trials in the same calendar year. Be advised!

I mean, I'm not going to lie, after reading all those reviews, I was expecting the worst, I was expecting rude staff, I was expecting to walk in and walk out. We would rate this place 10-stars if we would. First off, the staff here were WONDERFUL. Sarah at the front desk was here both times we came and she was so friendly/helpful/caring. She had the biggest smile on her face the whole time and answered all our questions and never once even had a hint of rudeness or annoyance with my million questions. The other 3 staff we had interactions with were great as well. We fell in love with a tiny little kitten online and got to take her home THAT DAY. Like, maybe 15-20 minutes later!! We were never hassled about wanting a kitten over an old cat like another reviewer stated. Sarah was so GLAD that we wanted to give one of their animals a loving home. While looking at all the other available animals, we noticed a litter of super fluffy orange kittens and inquired about them. They hadn't been checked by their staff vet yet but they took my number and called me when the kittens were ready to be adopted. So visit #2 was just as WONDERFUL as our initial visit. We held 3 of the "floofy" orange babies and decided on one. Again, since my application was filled out days before, I didn't even need to re-apply. We left with baby #2 within minutes. Bonus, the adoption cost was: FREE!!! Now, because our babies were so tiny, they hadn't been spayed and neutered yet but they both came with $75 vouchers to have that done. We just LOOOOOVE our new fur babies and highly recommend Pearland Animal Control and Pet Adoption!!!

I was referred to this shelter. Upon arrival, the male receptionist mentioned "all of our cats are…read moresick except for two". That really makes you think about the quality of care at this establishment. The white female at the front (blonde, bony) will reject helping animals in need to lessen her own workload. The entire time I was there, she acted as if they were going to help and shelter an animal i brought in. Then came up with excuses as to why she wouldn't take the animal in, even though the animal was found in the area. She actively wasted my time. Pathetic location with a clear reputation of not helping animals (which is their job) and only being interested in money. I wouldn't recommend this establishment.

I came here one day when I had a hit-and-run incident at Kroger's parking lot just 3 miles away. I called 911 and dispatch kept delaying my request for sending an officer. She offered me to speak someone in person at this substation. That was 3 hours after my initial report. I was hungry and heated. I drove here in complete darkness. There was no lit sign, well, it was very dim. I searched and searched, finally found it. I got out and walked in. The station officer asked me to fill up a form for what happened. I spent about 30 minutes writing a novel-length of my experience. He then told me it would have been my fault because I didn't look as I backed out of parking spot. Ok, it was a big truck and why didn't he stop? Most importantly, why did he flee when I asked to exchange our insurance info? Bottom line was "oh well" you can expect everyone to obey the law. He may not have insurance or he may not have a driver's license. I was just out of luck. By the way, I got a quote for $500 to fix my damaged bumper. I fixed it with heat gun for free.
