    Tides fab all day!!

Sunshine and baseball, baby! What can be better than that!! The Tides are on the field, and I have a soft pretzel, a veggie dog and a cold brew...today is a good day!

The seats had been worn down but the game was exiting and the players interact with fans

Just attended a Tides Fanfest event co-sponsored by Food Lion. Experience was a HOMERUN. My boys and I took batting practice, both onfield (x2) and in the Tides cages underneath Harbor Park. Sweet right? Boys fielded and shagged balls during other participant's AB's. Made our way to pitching machine and tested the velocity of our fast balls; 11yo = 42mph, 9yo = 44mph, me = 52mph. Had first "shot" buying brand new Norfolk Coffee merch in the Tides' team store; also left with some free Food Lion swag: chip clips, $5 coupons, string bags, and a manual fan (that broke in under 2min). Met 3 mascots: Triton, RipTide and Lion (Food Lion); hope they were paid OT bc it was a scorcher. Face painting services and balloons were also being given away free. Thank you Tides and Food Lion for letting kids and adults feel like legit minor leaguers!

Incredible night at the Norfolk Tides Park. This is a beautiful AAA baseball park for the Baltimore Orioles. They were celebrating four inductees to the Harbor Park Shrine tonight. Beautiful sights, great food. Everyone is super friendly. Definitely a have to go destination if you are visiting Our area.

Not a big baseball fan but they seemed good but what do I know. I'm not even sure if they won the game I watched wasn't paying much attention.

Gwinett Braves at Norfolk Tides, during the regular season. The Tides played quite well, only committing two errors (the Braves had one) and leaving several men on base. But they managed to eke out a win anyway. The Tides are a farm team for the Baltimore Orioles. Nice ballpark with good seating. While there was a good law enforcement presence at the gates and on the field after the game, there was not much for security otherwise. GO TIDES!

The 2014 home season in Norfolk has now ended. When I heard this Tide's pitcher was LIGHTS OUT I thought that was his pitching. Well read on and you will find out what happen. The Tides are a AAA professional team that is affiliated with the Baltimore Orioles. This is a change over the past five years, I can't recall what pro team they were connected with. They are located just off the water in Harbor Park which is off 264 in Norfolk Access in and out is pretty good. Use of the Tide light rail is a great way to go too. It appears the Norfolk Tides are great community partners. I see their involvement in various things around Hampton Roads. If you go to a game you see different groups mentioned, or brought out on the field. This is of course important for the teams public relations profile. They are a business after all. With regards to the product they put out on the field I cannot speak to this much. I attended a few games a season at best. However every game I attend they seem to loose. This season they again have a loosing record and appear out of the running for post season play. For the price, around $15 tops for box seats you can't beat it. Parking is a reasonable $5 too, or catch the Tide it stops right in front of the park. They allow you to bring in a bag and you may want to stow away a few bottles of water, especially for a day game. Also don't forget a sharpie for balls to be signed and a mitt to catch stray balls. Concession lines is what looses a star for me. Last night they were probably 85% capacity for their final home game. Most every single vendor had excessive lines that almost closed off the corridor to walk... can you say FIRE HAZARD! Also keep in mind many of the vendors take cash only. On the bright side while you are waiting in line you will enjoy the smell of the most intoxicating food in your life. The offerings are substantial. There is an ATM, but advice is bring at least $50 for a family of four. It ended up being premature suspended game after the light center field bank of light went out. Around 45 min went by before an announcement that the game would be suspended and continued in Durham today. Tides were leading 4-1. Ticket holders booed, but calmed down that tix would be honored for an April Tides game. The fans cheered as they were told by the announcer fireworks scheduled would start immediately. The fireworks show went on for 15 minutes behind the scoreboard and were fantastic with the parks lights turned off. I would say the show is one of the best I have ever seen, they were so close! The location and price make this a great family offering. I hope to get back in the Spring with the family and see a Tides win.

It was a super great night for baseball!! The weather was perfect and the price for food (certain items) was just right!! The Norfolk Tides I believe are in first place right now, so the time is right more than ever before to cheer them on!! And for that reason, we ventured here the past Monday night for "turn the clock back" night. This was the second feature this season where hot dogs, sodas, and popcorn were sold at the amazing price of $.50. And boy did we take advantage of this offer. For less than $10.00 we fed a family of 4!! The game time, 7:05 pm, and we arrived at 6:15 pm (with tickets in hand). I did notice a crazy line out front and around the side at the box offices. But I was one step ahead, I came to the box office at 2pm to secure tickets for the game. So yes, go early to purchase or trade in tickets to avoid the long lines. And because I did so earlier, we walked up with no wait to enter the field. Because we arrived this early, there was only a 5 minute wait or less to purchase food. This is fantastic!! Because about 8pm...the wait in line is easily 20 minutes or more!! And this is all because of the special event night. Usually you can get food pretty quickly on any given night. But come on...$.50 deals, yeah, I'd wait in line 20 mins too!! And the hotdogs and popcorn was yummy!! The field and stadium itself is goregous. The field and stadium is always clean...but after a game, yeah they have their work cut out for them!! The restrooms are kept tidy as well! Therefore, if you enjoy the great outdoors and baseball or just want to do something different, this is a fun experience for all. Wholesome family fun is how I see it or maybe even a date night!! Certain games feature a different special event. If you love fireworks catch them after the game! It's a beautiful display over the river! Upon purchasing tickets you can choose you seat, so be mindful of the seating chart near the box office. I prefer the 3rd base line because we always get a foul ball or two. But this last time we were able to get 4!!!! How awesome!! Have fun :)

Always a great time. Good clean fun. Lots of food choices. Lots of parking. They have handicapped seating (call to buy those). Various ways to get to the park- ride the tide. Take the portsmouth ferry. Drive and park $6. We are the AAA of the Baltimore Orioles. Enjoy a snack and support your local homegrown team. Its a great blessing to have this place. The Tides are a great team. We won 4-0 last night against Charlotte Knights. Fireworks post game too!

Great fun for the family, date or company night out. The concession stand food is really good and not over priced like some big attraction places. The restaurant they have at the park is awesome. But the thing I liked most was the private lounges for parties and companies. I had a great time in the sky box suite watching the game on the comfortable couch in is like a mini apartment. Had a ball !!!

My grandson was selected last year to be part of their pre travel program and he joined. I have…read moreseen him scrimmage and I am extremely disappointed with what has happened. His skill sets were better from the recreational league he played in. I have seen his and other kids that I recognize from playing before skill sets decline. They have scrimmage some during the year and I can go watch them. There is no coaching at all during the game. The "coach" that is there is little more than a ref and a timekeeper. There is no team concept and no motivation for the kids to play well against each other. My daughter says that this fairly expensive. Definitely not worth the money. I hope she doesn't put the younger child in this program because it is bad. Also parents are not allowed to coach from the sidelines. They have nice facilities. Should have put that money into more coachs and more training for their coachs. My suggestion is stay away from this program.

If you want your child to actually play soccer, I would not recommend Richmond United. We signed up…read moreover 3 months ahead of time for my son's 3rd season with RU Red and because of "an issue with the system" he was placed on a team below his age/grade level. When I learned of the mistake, I immediately informed them but was told it was too late to place him on an appropriately aged team because they were full and there was nothing that could be done. No apology was offered and because it took them so long to assign teams and notify parents, it was too late to enroll him in another program. It's a shame because he really did enjoy his previous seasons with RU Red, but we would prefer to support a program that actually follows through with commitments and communicates more effectively.
