There are plenty of attentive teachers, and it shows how well they care for the children -- I always feel my daughter is safe and happy here. My son attended in the past, and now my daughter goes with the same excitement and joy. She comes home full of stories about what she learned and the fun she had with her friends. The holiday programs and concerts are beautifully prepared -- it's amazing to see the children singing, reciting poems, and growing in confidence. We are so grateful to have found such a nurturing, safe, and joyful place for our children. I will happily enroll my youngest here too once he is old enough.

The healthy meals they provide every day are such a relief as a parent--I never have to worry about what my child is eating while at school. The activities they plan are always thoughtful, engaging, and fun. My son has loved the special events like the petting zoo, reptiles visit, and the parent/grandparent days that made the whole family feel welcome and involved. It's clear that the school goes above and beyond to create not just a learning environment, but a joyful and nurturing community. We are so grateful to have found this school and would highly recommend it to any family looking for a safe, caring, and enriching place for their little one!

My son has been going to First Steps for 3 years now and I am planning to send my younger boy…read morestarting this summer too. We love First Steps for many reasons: - Good size, not too small to give you a day care feel, not too big. It is the right size to prepare the children for the actual school. They have 250-300 students. - Curriculum, they actually have formal curriculum for every group. Now their emphasis is more on play and "let the kids be kids" theory, which I love, so their curriculum is more play-based for younger groups and it gets more academic content for older groups. - Nice campus, they have a huge campus for being a preschool. It includes multiple buildings with playgrounds, a grass covered field, parking lot, a full equipped kitchen and the offices. - Culture, this is an Armenian preschool so if you are not an Armenian or semi-Armenian household you might reconsider sending your child here. There are lots of aspects of the school which are Armenian, such as the food served for lunch, celebrating Armenian holidays, Armenian staff, teaching Armenian language, songs, etc. - Staff, all the teachers and office staff are kind and put a lot of care when interacting with the students. They would report anything that they notice about your child to you, know each of their students and their character very well and in general you feel your child is in good hands during school hours. - Extra curriculum programs, they offer lots of them including art, sports, science, etc. There is so much more to mention but I'll just wrap up my review here and give a shoutout to everyone who make First Steps a wonderful preschool for us.

Save yourself the trouble and heartache we went through with this school. If you care about your…read morechild's emotional and physical well-being avoid this school entirely. My daughter started school and was so happy to go, until 3-4 weeks in when she started to cry and have anxiety. Obviously, something had happened to set these emotions off. When she started to form her thoughts and feelings, it was clear we had to take her out immediately due to a few incidents that were inappropriately handled. This school is not a play based preschool. It's a free-play daycare with no structure and minimal oversight. One of the reasons we sent my daughter here is due to it being an Armenian school (this school was our second choice - she was wait-listed at our preferred school). Aside from picking up bad behavior from other students, she never really learned much. I was correcting their Armenian poetry hanging in the classrooms (see pic). In fact, they read them English books every week and the teachers don't really speak English so none of it really makes sense. There are too many very obvious issues at the school that I cannot go into detail about, but do your homework, check the hidden reviews that are a VERY ACCURATE depiction (similar to our experience), check with the state licensing department for licensed quality child care centers in your area and don't be fooled by the enrollment rate. The school accepts more students than it can handle and is understaffed. Weeks after we withdrew my daughter, several other kids/parents in the school reported similar experiences. Some withdrew, others are stuck with no alternative mid-year. The people running the school are incompetent and completely in the dark about early childhood education and behavior. They also have no understanding of appropriate discipline. What is most disappointing is that they are in denial for all their short-comings and sweep everything under the rug, including health and safety concerns. We sat through a meeting to discuss these concerns with the director only to have her bash on other daycares and Armenian schools for half an hour and go around in circles coming up with excuses as to why my daughter was mistreated. Find a school that actually cares about the whole child and doesn't just treat them like a number that comes before dollar signs. There's no shortage of quality schools in the area with stellar reputations, educated staff and operational standards. My daughter has been so happy at her new school and has made so much progress, both emotionally, behaviorally and developmentally which only reflects poorly on this school and validated my decision to withdraw her. Like many parents, I heard good things about the school until we withdrew my daughter and all the terrible stories came rolling in from parents who had similar experiences. Finally, if you are looking at schools, don't take this decision lightly. Early childhood education is a fundamental building block for scholastic and social success. This is the time when kids learn to love school. Good luck.

After I toured the school and classrooms with Ms. Nicholas, I was sold. My son is in Ms. Amy's class and he's thriving--he's excited about going to school, comes home and 'teaches' me about the things he's learning in class. The classroom set up is amazing, with various educational stations, they rotate the curriculum and provide supplemental ideas for parents to continue on that subject at home. The school grounds are full of educational toys--from Lakeshore Learning. The staff is amazing and Ms. Nicholas is very involved in each child's experience at the school. I always feel very comfortable in asking her questions or asking for guidance, which is such a positive experience to have with a principal. I've been so thrilled with the school, my daughter just started with the younger children (so long as they are 2 and potty trained, they can begin!). Robbin's Nest Preschool has been a true lifesaver for our family!…read moreAfter a difficult experience at another school, we were referred to Robbin's Nest and immediately felt supported. It was wonderful to see the children come together like one big family--greeting each other warmly and saying goodbye as a group. We truly enjoyed all the creative art projects Ms. Emma introduced to the classroom, along with her gentle approach. There was never any pressure or hostility if a child chose not to participate in an activity, just gentle support. My son was introduced to STEM activities and did creative projects like transforming the classroom into an entire farm or a market. It was so hard to move to Pre-K, however, Ms. Veronica helped him blossom academically and socially. She is truly incredible!! We have seen our son transform and grow. He now communicates and plays well with peers. He has shown tremendous progress in academics under Ms. Veronica's guidance. She provided us with daily updates good and bad. We celebrated milestones and achievements and worked on issues together. As a parent, you're kept informed of all activities. Every month a calendar is shared marking the daily activities. In Ms. Veronica's class, each week was focused on the letter of the week and all the activities were based on the letter. This was incredibly helpful as we would continue it at home. What immediately impressed us is RN's incredible Director, Ms. Rosalie. She always has the warmest smile and knows about every single child and what occurred during the day. I'm not sure how she does it, but she stays involved and extremely supportive of all families. Her attention and compassion is what makes RN so special. On top of that, she makes the most amazing banana and zucchini bread!! It is true that they say it takes a village and RN has become our village! All the teachers at RN are incredible. They are friendly and always there to help. The kids engage in so many different activities ranging from baking to sports. In terms of details, they have a great balance of outside and inside activities. Parents can choose to pack a lunch or order from their easy menu. Parents pack a snack and I found this most helpful because I could monitor what my child ate. We are so grateful to Robbin's Nest and would recommend it 10/10 for the care, growth, and confidence it brings to children and families alike. I highly recommend to all our friends and family for the incredible experience we have had. It is really hard to move into the next chapter as we start elementary, but with the help of Ms. Veronica and Ms. Rosalie, we are ready to move forward.
