The Pasta was good, the bread they serve when you order was superb and the pizza sucked. The service was slow and the noise was really bad.

Nook My colleague and I ordered their housemade pasta to share. We got the rigatoni boscaiola (prosciutto, sundried tomato, mushroom) and gnocchi pomodoro with an additional of sausage meat. Although the portions didn't look too big when the dishes arrived, it did fill both of us up. Out of the 2 dishes, I like the rigatoni more. The cream sauce thinly coated each individual rigatoni. The rigatoni was al dente! The smokiness of the prosciutto and flavour of the sundried tomato complimented each other very well. The gnocchi was heavy on the flour and therefore was not as light as I hoped it would be. But I guess this is common for this type of pasta. The slight tartness of the sauce balanced out the dense(ish) gnocchi. I was glad we added some sausage meat to the dish. Remember to add a few dashes of their housemade garlic oil to the dishes! It really enhance the flavors.The garlic flavour isn't too pronounced, so you don't have to worry about a garlicky breath. read more

Good food bad service. Sadly took over 1.5 hours to get our food which was one margarita pizza. Our waitress took our order and never came back to check on us or bring more waters. After we got our pizza I asked for the bill and a to go box because I knew it was slow and she didn't come back for over 30 mins and forgot to bring the bill. read more

The food was very good. The service was lacking. Sat at the bar, there were 4 people behind it. Took several minutes for someone to ask if we wanted drinks. Got our drinks and waited for 10 to 15 minutes for someone to take our order. Eventually I asked a girl if she could take the order. read more

I was here twice in one week. Love the patio! Maybe a couple of more umbrellas are needed, though. Both visits we happened to get a table without an umbrella and it would have been a bit nicer experience to have an unbrella to block the sun. Food was great, as it usually has been in my experience. One of my favourite restaurants in Thunder Bay. They have fantastic pizza - properly aged dough, cooked in a very hot oven, so the crust ends up thin/dry/crunchy like in Italy. They use excellent ingredients, very good cheeses and meats - the prosciutto is a craft product from Ontario that is incredible (try it if they have it on an app). The menus changes regularly... so try what's current - I've never been disappointed. read more

Not sure about the food. After 8 hour long haul, we were really looking forward to a nice meal. Checked on Yelp, stepped in this place at 9:00 pm as the Yelp stated the closing hour was 9:30 pm. No-one greeted us for a good long while. After several eye contacts with several wait people and even cooks (open kitchen), still nobody greeted us. Then, someone finally came up and said, the kitchen is closed, we only serve pizza now, and asked if we still were OK. We were very disappointed, not about the closed kitchen, but the way they treated their very eager & hungry customers. If they know they are going to disappoint the customer, it's more considerate if they do it before letting them wait at the door for a good long while. read more

Great atmosphere. Ordered Spaghetti cacio e pepe and was right on point. The pasta was al dente and fresh. Decent espresso, local bean and served hot with a cantuccio. We went with another couple and ordered drinks and a shared appetizer. Unfortunately, the appetizer took forever and while the waitress was apologetic, it was really something simple that shouldn't have taken soooo long. Our main courses, gnocchi, spaghetti and rigatoni were also late and they tasted okay, but nothing special. Would think twice about going here again after our experience. read more

It's funny how I didn't see anyone in the area except for them all being packed in this place. It's probably because the food is amazing. Ordered the olives for appetizer and they were very tasty. The pizza here is extremely fresh and light. We ordered the proshiutto, arugula, and Parmesan pizza, and the potato and rosemary pizza. Damn, the food and BEER here is great! As a picky food lover, I absolutely love the atomosphere and the options at the Nook. The staff are always friendly, the portions are large and all homemade with love. I highly reccomend saving room for a cappuchino and a cold drink on the patio on a summers day! read more

Such good pasta! One of my favourite spots to enjoy when I'm visiting. Reminds me of being in a big city, yet am still in Thunder Bay. Last visit we took some takeout home and the pasta was delicious! Looking forward to my next visit to both Thunder Bay and Nook! read more

Food was good and fresh. Ambiance was bristling. Not a location for an intimate conversation. Wine list OK. Guests were not fussy, just hungry. We were content to order one of the least expensive Sangiovese stocked by LCBO. Foccacio delivered so late after antipasto platter that even though we had stopped eating (waiter suggested ''we slow down') there was little point. Fresh pizza was excellent but a very long wait. Waiter also forgot pasta order: another wait. Service was slow and unimpressive. Bill as delivered was about twice the real amount by $100 (another table's order had been included.) This resto shows promise but service errors mean i won't be returning soon. Takeaway? Go if you have time to waste and dont mind taking the time to check the addition on the bill. read more

The wood-fired pizza was excellent! The staff were very attentive and the ambiance was simple and perfect for sharing a dinner.

My experience was less then stellar with a floppy un cut pizza and a bland meatball dish that was over dressed in olive oil the main course was disappointing. In all honesty our crostini and deserts were exquisite to say the least. read more

The menu and variety of daily specials provide diners with a variety of tasty options. The drink menu covers great beer, wine, cocktail, and non-alcoholic options beyond just soda. We started our meal with the salad of the day which was panezella and then both enjoyed a pasta dish. While dining it was hard not to be jealous of the wonderful looking pizzas coming out of the oven. We will be back and hopefully early enough to grab one of the patio tables this time. read more

WORST HOSTESS EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD!! My friend and I had just come off of a 12 hour road trip and had booked a reservation for 830 which we were so excited for and we had decided to not make any stops for food the entire day so we could enjoy our nook pasta (which we love so much). We arrived at 8:52 and the host told us that their kitchen was now closed and that they couldn't serve use anymore. (The restaurant closed at 930???) if your restaurant closes at 9:30 why are you not accepting customers before 9? We then checked our email and our reservation had been cancelled at 8:50 (TWO MINUTES before we arrived) so we were extremely confused as to why two minutes would make such a difference? I am extremely disappointed in Nook, which is one of my favourite restaurants as a Vancouver local, and I will unfortunately NEVER be returning to any Nook location ever again because of the service we received. Horrible service. I do not recommend unless you are going at 2pm which is hours before they close or else you will never know when you will and won't get seated. read more

This review is because of attitude and customer service experience. I like the food here. If you are Italian it won't compare to home cooked meal but it's good. The pizza is good too. Probably in the top 3 of Thunder Bay, But What they get a bad score for os because of the attitude.
