Dr. Tom is an outstanding chiropractor. Before I was his patient, I had limited success with chiropractors; however, I had just enough success to keep me hopeful that I would find a chiropractor that could help me heal from the various problems that bothered me.
For reasons that I and all the doctors and the other various medical professionals that I have seen cannot seem to determine, I am particularly sensitive to any sort of body manipulation. Massage, acupuncture, physical therapy, and chiropractic care, if too forceful, has left me in pain or dealing with strange sensations that persist long past the initial soreness that is sometimes expected following a treatment. In the past, I had seen a few chiropractors who were not willing to listen to my concerns about some of their treatments. These doctors had a one size fits all plan that left me feeling obligated to accept their treatments because I was paying them for the visit and more so because they assured me that there were no negative effects that would result from their treatments.
Before I made my first appointment with Dr. Tom, I resolved that I would not be persuaded into receiving treatments that I wasn't perfectly comfortable with any longer, but this resolution wasn't necessary. I could tell that Dr. Tom understood my situation and frustration. He respected my intuition and cautiousness and created a plan that was gentle and effective. He always explained to me what he was doing and how it would help me feel better.
To be more specific of what was bothering me and what he helped relieve either significantly or entirely despite years without success, he helped me get rid of persistent neck stiffness, feet pain, headaches, back pain, and helped me heal even more from a hip operation after I had concluded physical therapy.
Additionally, so many chiropractors recommend an x week/month long treatment plan and consistently encourage their patients via frequent phone calls or through their persistent office staff to follow this schedule strictly. Dr. Tom understood that I could not hold to this either logistically or financially because I was a 21 year old college student. It was his expertise that brought me back for further treatments, and I felt comfortable walking in his office after sometimes 2 or more weeks knowing that we would continue the discussion of my improvement instead of my absence. read more
