It was with much excitement that I ran down to Parkway on the opening day of Nonna's deli- a partnership between Ramsey and Hartnett, which has been hotly anticipated by Camden and Primrose Hill residents. I looked around the shop for almost half and hour, armed with cash and desperate to buy something, anything, but whilst I appreciated its original cobbled flooring, wooden fruit crates and rustic stable doors, I found it performed more as a museum than a shop. There is a beautiful selection of Italian meats and cheeses, but nothing particularly tantalizing to buy on a lunchtime whim. This is where Nonna's fails dramatically- it is probably one of the most authentic delis in London but there really isn't anything very exciting to buy. With the increasingly popular neighbourhood deli Morgan & Melrose just minutes around the corner, Nonna's is going to have to deliver more than shelves of artisan jams and crates of organic fruit to divert the attentions of Primrose Hill's demanding customers. read more
