The local Thai place smack in the middle of Greensborough main street is Peppercorn…read more This is a tiny place, very cozy and I'm still surprised at how many tables they can fit inside such a small area. The staff and girls are all friendly, and food all came out in a good manner, with not too long of a wait time. The menu was standard Thai cuisine, the only things that stood out were the duck options. But I am in a little no-meat phase right now, so I opted for the Vegetable Pad Thai. It was good, but I expected it to have more flavor, and maybe a little bit more sauce. It was easily filling as it's a good portion, and I was left with no room to try one of the desserts. I saw other tables come in and order a curry to share, that might be a good choice. They were out of the iced green tea, which is fine, I'm not holding that against anyone. And the appetizer of beef curry puffs are definitely good. I must say, we got there for an early dinner, by the time we got through the meal, every table was full. So if you dine late, it might be best to call ahead and reserve a table. Also they do have take away, there were tons of people coming in to pick up their orders.

I came here with friends for dinner and was very happy with that decision…read more The cities were amazing and the roti bread I had with mine was perfect. The meals came out quickly and almost all together. Timing is the sign of a well run kitchen. The staff were very friendly and helpful, but certainly not annoying or overly attentive. This is a good thing.

The Thai green curry is fragrant and deliciously authentic and this (my favourite dish) mirrors the quality of the the other dishes on the menu. The takeaway counter at the back of the restaurant does a roaring trade and the revolving door of customers collecting their order provides cool relief! Tarin is only open for dinner (from 6pm) but book ahead as groups of local families, couples and coworkers know this place well! Park across the road at Warringal Shopping Centre and collect a bottle of wine from the Sir Henry Barkly Bottle-O to enjoy with your meal. Although don't be concerned if you forget, Tarin is licensed as well as BYO.

The prawns were superb, the curry puffs needed the oil to have been a little hotter when they were deep fried, still tasty, just a little less puffy than I would have wanted. For the main course we had a green chicken curry and battered fried prawns with a tamarind based sauce, both we fine authentic fresh meals that had that Thai zing. Once again, tho, the prawns could have been done in hotter oil as they fell just a fraction short of being perfectly crispy. The wine list is small and modest but well priced, we had a Victorian Sauvignon Blanc for a quarter of the price we paid for similar quality local wine late last year.
