Jay Patel and his pediatric staff isn't in the business of entertaining you. They don't have toys…read morelining their waiting room walls like other children's doctors do. One measly activity center is all the sits on the floor. Not that your child would get the chance to play anyway. Dr. Patel sets his schedules just far enough apart to ensure that your stay in the waiting room is brief. By the time you check in, find a seat and pull the activity center out you are being called back to the examination area. Here, the nurses are brisk. They take your child's vitals (blood pressure, head size, weight, height) and get them moved into the enclosed patient rooms with very little unnecessary chatter or small talk. They tell it how it is, tell you what you need to know and not much extra. The walls in the patient room are huge, single colored canvases that stand pretty bare, save for one tiny set of stencils plastered to the wall (our last room had the Winnie the Pooh characters in extremely faded colors hanging up). The stencils are so close together that they do nothing to fill the empty space. They are the sole reminders that you are in a doctor's office designed for children. Well those and the signs hanging up that tell you not to eat and drink in the room and to take your dirty diapers out to the dumpster. Most adults, sans children, aren't walking around with dirty diapers on their being. There are no additional ads for medication, scary pictures telling you to repent or die or even information about common childhood diseases hanging on the walls. I like that. When the Dr. comes in he inquires about the symptoms your child is suffering from, may swab a nose or cheek or check an ear or lung and then make a diagnoses. He will prescribe medicine if needed, but this is usually a last resort. Bim, bam, boom you are checking out and leaving faster than I ever imagined possible. So why the three stars? As first time parents there are times that we feel we need more information and don't get it. If we ask, he tells us. It is just a matter of us thinking to ask. Other doctors seem to provide the information up front. This sometimes causes my wife to take an extra trip or make additional calls that possibly could've been avoided. I also go back to my first statement of Dr. Patel not entertaining you. He recently added televisions to the waiting area. I know this is pretty standard now-a-days but I'm a little weirded out that a pediatric doctor has no books in his waiting room but now has a television. That seems a bit backwards if you ask me.

Despite explaining my daughter's symptoms in detail, we were given no clear guidance, recommendations, or next steps. I left feeling unheard and concerned that my child's needs were not taken seriously. I expected professionalism and compassion, but unfortunately did not receive either. I would not recommend this clinic based on our experience.

I don't remember a single time the receptionist allowed me to see the provider without the copayment and they claim I didn't in one occupation. I'm frustrated with this facility. I hope I won't get another surprise bill 2 years later from here.

I have very little pain, and the affects of the general anesthesia are subsiding. Dr. Politz spends time with his patient before the surgery, explaining everything and answering questions. He just called me tonight to make sure I was doing ok. How many surgeons give a patient their cell number? His bedside manner is superb, and his skill and experience is evidenced by his having performed over 10,000 thyroid and parathyroid surgeries. He is one of the best in the country - people come from other states and even other countries to be cared for by him.

Dr. Bryan Raymond provided amazing care for our elderly parents. I even asked for the supervisor they sad they don't have one so I asked who is in charge they said nobody I'm sorry someone has to be in charge they said no so I got my medical records and left, now I'm in the hospital. After explaining why she needed to be seen, the receptionist/medical assistant asked if we had an appointment. Of course we did not. I confirmed this was an urgent care location. She acknowledged and said we did both. She then said since you don't have an appointment you can be seen but only after those with appointments. Besides the fact this is supposed to be an urgent care center which under any medical model, regardless of appointments, patients should be triaged and then prioritized to be seen. Again I say the waiting room was completely empty and by her own admission there were no other patients being seen. I again asked if we had to wait to be seen despite no one other patients being present and she affirmed yes. Of course we left, but before doing so I asked one more time if they were an urgent care center and she affirmed. As a healthcare professional with vast knowledge about urgent care centers and operations I reminded her how a true urgent care should be, not like a primary care office. Besides their own website does not require, encourage, or offer a way for patients to make appointments for urgent care. Don't waste your time, find another place to go. I'm writing this review from another urgent care less than 15 minutes away from inside the exam room while my daughter is being examined!! What an extreme difference in care, tone, and they were most welcoming.

Worst medical care system ever!…read more Our wonderful doctor of 22 years retired last year and we are trying to find a new primary care doctor. Well, good luck with that! We have tried calling four doctors so far. Right now, our primary need is to refill current prescriptions that we got from our old doctor less than 8 months ago. But, what a run around we are getting, since each doctor in the FMC system we called is telling us we are considered NEW patients and the next opening for a new patient appointment is in four months. So, after 22 years we are new patients? So, all those previous 22 years of office visits, physicals, tests, surgeries, etc. suddenly don't count? So every time I want to see a different doctor I am going to be considered a new patient? And therefore have to wait four months for an appointment, for a visit during which I see the doctor for only 15 minutes. Well then, what is the reason for being in the FMC system? All we need right now is to refill our prescriptions, something that we cannot wait four months to do. These scripts were written by a FMC doctor, why all the hassle when we just need refills. Oh wait... I was able to get an appointment for the following week to see a doctor when they wanted me to have two expensive test procedures. Oh wait... we were also told of a new FMC policy. Patients are now required to see a FMC doctor TWICE a year, whether they need to or not or else they go back to being NEW patients again. Florida Medical Clinic system seems more concerned with the bottom line of money making than in any real concern for their patients' health.
