've previously posted a 5 Star review for the years of great work (multiple crowns, a couple root…read morecanals, etc) I received at Smilebuilderz, but am amending due to recent issues which have turned me off from going to them ever again. On Tuesday I scheduled an emergency appt by phone for Thursday and provided my insurance information since I hadn't visited since prior to 2020. Wednesday, I get a call saying my dental plan insurance is showing up as medical when they attempt to verify it. (This is a plan listed on Smilebuilderz website as covered. My card says "Dental Card" on it and the ID number is different than my medical card.) I re-supply the insurance info to the person on the phone and they tell me, "If you don't hear back, you're good to go for Thursday." I didn't hear back. Thursday comes around and I show up 15 minutes before my appointment. I took the time off from a job I just started to deal with this dental emergency. I end up sitting in the waiting room for 50 minutes before informing staff I needed to get back to work. In a last ditch effort to be seen, I provided an alternative insurance which if used, would charge me the monthly premium since it was currently inactive. This second insurance, I called while in office, ended up requiring me to add Smilebuilderz as my primary dental and then told me it could take hours for the confirmation fax to be sent. So, I get home and call my insurance; they call Smilebuilderz and we get my dental plan set up, according to Molly or Margaret (?). Immediately after this was remedied, I get a call from scheduling and set up a second appointment for Saturday in Ephrata, a 40 mile round-trip away. I arrive on Saturday annnnd the insurance I had set up with the insurance agent and Smilebuilderz rep on the phone Thursday around 10:30 AM had NOT been set up and my only option was a credit card self-pay then self-bill my insurance afterwards. I now have to wait until the end of next week to get into a different company's urgent dental because it's a holiday weekend and can't request time off until Tuesday. Also, Anita, the manager in Ephrata, when asked if there is someone above her, said there is no one. I googled while on the phone with her and asked for Anthony's number so she gave me the main line really fast w/ no extension.

The dentist and hygienist were so patient, gentle, and fun with my child, explaining everything in a way that was easy for them to understand. The dental office is clean, child-friendly, and inviting. Highly recommend Smile Squad to any parent looking for exceptional dental care for their kids! Plus, their top-tier technology Solea laser made treatment an absolute breeze for my kids.

She had her mouth open and they already put a device in her mouth. The doctor decided he wasn't going to work on her and said I can't work on her if she does move (she wasn't moving and was hooked up to nitrous) we were seen for a LASER filling. At this point he stood up and left the room, with the assistant repeating "we see this everyday it's not going to work". My daughter was laying back completely still under nitrous- might I add. I asked- so you're going to make her come back again and after starting a service and saying you won't work on her when she has a few tears? (First filling) She was upset that they stopped, I told her we'd have to come back and try again. Then- we go to leave and I ask the assistant as we walk out now what, I schedule an appointment next week to try again? And she says no-the doctor won't want to see her back for six months at least. I said for a filling!? How do they know her tooth won't hurt by then? The lack of caring, patience and time they give is absurd for a pediatric dentist. My daughter was calm and ready outside of having some normal fears for her first ever cavity. Had they taken a moment to slow down instead of storm off, she would have been fine moments later. Instead, she started crying even more because I told her we would have to come back AGAIN. Extremely unprofessional and so disappointed. I DO NOT recommend this place for fillings. EDITED TO ADD: I called around to a few other pediatric dental offices and explained her age, circumstance, etc and they all stated they would NOT recommend waiting 6 months for the filling. I proceeded to call back and asked if we actually are recommended to wait 6 months for her to be seen, what am I supposed to do if she has pain and also how much can I expect the tooth to decay if we wait that long? The girl put me on hold. Then another female answers and says she's the office manager. She started the phone call right away by saying we no longer think your family would be a good fit here you guys obviously don't like it here etc. I said I'm calling to ask questions about my daughter's care for her cavity, I never said we don't like it there. I'm a parent trying to take care of my daughter's teeth. She said yeah well we're going to refer you out etc. I said okay, well the only issue I had was the bedside manner today and lack of patience. She stated that the assistant and doctor claimed my daughter (who I was in the room with the entire time) was "crying hysterically, moving, and not opening her mouth" which was 100% not the case. She had some tears which could have easily been walked through with patience. While still on the phone she did state "you're leaving a google review so you wouldn't be a good fit here" I guess only good reviews are appreciated by staff, but REAL reviews are appreciated by the public. I'm just shocked and blown away by the abrupt, unprofessional, sad, not patient, not kid friendly service today. Yes I left overwhelmed, frustrated and upset. After hours on the phone getting other opinions, I lack the trust in this dentist. I ended the phone call with the dental office manager (repeating myself because I still didn't get an answer) as a parent I'm just trying to figure out if the 6 months is real and if it is- what to do if she has pain, and secondly how much can I anticipate her tooth to decay in waiting that time? And she stated she would talk to the doctor and call me back. Added: they called me back and didn't answer any questions and said we're sending you a dismissal letter I said okay I'll add to my google review and hung up. That's my latest update. Added X2: this company has numerous fake reviews and they attempt to remove their "bad" reviews.

I had a few cleanings done here, which were pretty normal. Like others have said, I had to wait longer than expected but nothing too drastic. I did end of switching providers though after one too many bad experiences that could not be coincidental. Saga as follows: -They switched dentists between my 2nd and 3rd cleaning here. During the second cleaning I was told I would need multiple fillings (which I kept procrastinating...) During the 3rd cleaning the new dentist said I did not need any... (to give benefit of the doubt, maybe every dentist is different...? But I felt like the previous dentist was just trying to get money out of me! -They were VERY hesitant to give a referral for a wisdom tooth extraction to anywhere but one specific place (which didn't take my insurance) Once I finally jumped through all the hoops for them to finally release my information to who I was asking them to, they only sent part of my record and I had to get X-rays redone at the place I was getting my wisdom teeth out because they "didn't have it" -During my 3rd cleaning they took the X-rays again because the "didn't have them" How do you misplace X-rays...? ‍ - the new dentist was really demeaning, mansplained EVERYTHING to me, even restated something I literally just said, and used my name every other second thinking he was "connecting with me." I did not like it! But I was thankful he retook the X-ray "for free" (not my fault they misplaced it though...) and did not lie about my filling so that was nice... mixed reviews on him -Nail in the coffin, my last appointment was 7/22 and i have not heard from them since (except to cancel a cleaning 1/23 because I decided not to continue with them...!) All of a sudden I get a collection notice in the mail saying I owe them money for my last cleaning.... I called to ask why I didn't get a bill or a call or anything. They claim they sent 8 bills before sending to collection but I did not get 1... Needless to say: proceed with caution. The people are not bad (also not the best...) but I had one too many bad experiences for it to be coincidence.
