Free tour with fun history and creepy stuff! My husband and I went with a friend on a Tuesday tour and we had such a great time! They are dog friendly so we brought our dog in a stroller (as one does). This is fun to do alone, or with a group! It was really cool getting to learn more about North Hollywood especially since my husband and I have lived here for several years. Our tour guide, Avery, was so personable and had great energy! They were so knowledgeable about the history of North Hollywood and it was fun to see them use the energy reader and copper rods! Avery did a great job sharing personal stories mixed with history! There were some interruptions, but Avery handed it well and was friendly overall! We had a special surprise run in with a former employee of one of the haunted buildings we were standing in front of! They were able to share about their ghostly encounters! Definitely not guaranteed, but a nice treat! It's about a 1.5 mile walk so wear the right shoes! I highly recommend if you're a Valley native, visiting, or are in the surrounding LA area! read more

Props to NoHo Ghosts for bringing some haunted fun to North Hollywood! First of all, the best part about the tour was Avery, our guide. So eloquent and knowledgeable about every place on the tour, you can tell she did her research. I'd heard about the El Portal ghost before all the other stories were new to me. The two highlights were getting up close to the Masonic building and getting to use the emf and other ghost hunting tools. Let's face it when else would you get to do that? The tour is dog friendly, as long as the dog is friendly too. Good way to get your puppies' steps in as well as yours! Personally, I loved getting my steps in and hearing the history of the places at the same time. I also appreciated the quick grounding meditation at the start of the tour. #IYKYK The only thing that would make it better would be adding food to the tour, maybe a deal with the Fry Truck? NoHo Ghosts is a 2-hour historical walking tour of North Hollywood filled with fun ghost stories and paranormal activity (we got to use some ghost hunting tools along the way)! Avery was a fantastic tour guide and was excited and knowledgable about NoHo and its haunting past. Though the ghost stories were fun, the stories of the people that founded NoHo and shaped its identity were my best takeaways from this tour. I came out of this tour far more knowledgable about NoHo's architecture, history, culture, and past residents. I think this tour is great for anyone on the hunt for the paranormal or just wanting to learn more about local history. On my tour, we had amateur ghost hunters, a local historian, and horror fans, and we all seemed to have fun and learn a lot from Avery (and from each other!) The tour is 2 hours all walking, so wear comfortable shoes. I believe the areas we walked around were either on sidewalks or level streets. So I embarked on NoHo Ghosts on a day that it was still over 95 degrees at 8:00 pm! Got an email from Avery saying that we could reschedule and that I was the only one scheduled that night but since I'm good with the heat, and Avery was gracious enough to not cancel I had the privilege of a private tour. And it was fabulous! I learned a lot about the history of the place, kind of "met" a ghost. Emily wasn't talking but Josephine did. Though I've lived in Los Angeles for over 20 years, I didn't grow up in LA, and I still feel like a tourist in my hometown. I love going on walking tours of LA. I'm a fan of weird history more so than the paranormal, but I love ghost tours because they usually cover true crime and weird history. Avery's tour is a welcome addition to the LA tour scene. The tour is fun for locals, and it would be fun for tourists too. Tour material is a great blend of local history, supernatural lore, and architecture. It's not the same old stories that you've heard before. Tour guide Avery is very friendly and enthusiastic. My only complaint is that some of her stories are not as strong and memorable as others. Unfortunately I agree with a fellow reviewer. This ghost tour was not up to par. Was just not good. Though the intentions were there, the tour was not. It was long and boring. The host was enthusiastic, but the words spoken could send you into a boring coma. The fact they offer these free tours for a yelp review, and yet no one is giving a review should be pretty clear. The tour is so bad we don't want to leave a bad review. We know you mean well. We appreciate your zest for life and enthusiasm. But it's not enough. The tour is awful. No one is leaving reviews because none of us want to hurt your feelings. But the tour needs a complete change. read more

I hate to give a bad review so I'm giving an extra two stars because they offered a free tour a test trial. Avery, the tour guide was lovely and quirky. I give them props for starting up their own business. There was some awkwardness especially before starting the tour. We could hear Avery well with the microphone they had. The tools they brought were fun and silly. The tour is too long. It took us 2 hours. There aren't many ghost stories and the ones that were told were hearsay and not all that interesting. Maybe noho just doesn't have many ghosts? But even some interesting made-up stories would be fun. There wasn't very much history. I would think they'd talk about the history of the federal bar at the end of the tour but we didn't end back there. I liked looking at the Masonic temple up close. I hope with more feedback, looking into history, and practice this does succeed. I didn't take any photos as there was nothing interesting to look at. read more

This was so fun! I have lived in NoHo a long time but never heard any of this history. Avery was a great host & clearly this is a genuine passion & interest & did extensive research. This is a new tour & still being polished currently, but it didn't impact my enjoyment at all. Avery has all the ghost tools that are fun to check out. I had an amazing time. We went on a Friday night, Lankershim blvd was filled with people. NoHo ghosts made a great addition to the events going on and a alternative choice of having fun besides drinking and eating in the area. We had a large group that evening. Wear comfortable shoes because the tour is about two hours, walking down Lankershim and into the residential neighborhoods. Our tour was led by Avery, her genuine and excited demeanor added to the tour experience. The group was interacting and we all were having a good time. There isn't any bathroom breaks, so make sure you handle your business beforehand so you don't disrupt the tour.
