I have been coming here since I was little, brought my kids here and now my grandkids. I had to take my walker down the handicapped ramp, which was a lot easier going down than coming back up! My granddaughter was so excited. I had two of my son's with me, my daughter, her husband and Kirie, my bright and energetic ray of sunshine. She just couldn't wait to get down the mountain to play on the big toy and put her feet in the creek as we have always done. When we got down there the first we noticed was the big play place had been taken down, nothing left but a big sand pit. We thought we'd take some pictures on the bridge and head on over to the waterfall and cave to play in the water. For generations people has been coming and enjoying the cave. Years of fun and fond memories have been made here. There was already people on both sides of the bridge in the smaller creek bed playing so we merged on. Up the mountain we saw signs posted and a big wooden fence blocking the waterfall and cave!? What is this? A fence? Why? For years kids have enjoyed this place, I've never known of anyone ever hurt here! I felt that new people have come in with their fancy signs and fences, taking away the swings and slides and leaving us with nothing. We got to the second bridge and my kids went to check out the pond. There were more people in the pond swimming, which was nice to hear..at least they haven't robbed us of all the watering spots...so we had wasted a trip. Why not work on making those bridges sturdier? My son-in-law found loose boards that's more hazardous to our safety! I knew those were the same bridges from over 20 years ago because I found the same names that were carved into them from back then. If they are so worried about safety, start there! Not get rid of all the good stuff! I couldn't make it across the second bridge so I waited for everyone to come back and we started heading back to the vehicle. It's so hard for me to get down here anymore, I don't know if I'll even try it again and absolutely not with its present state. My granddaughter was so unhappy, everyone was just so upset we spent all this time for nothing. We'll find another park to take her to I just think this is such a shame, the condition of this one and the loss of more memories. It's just so sad.

This site looks like its Not Somewhere to stop, but if you don't stop you will miss a really nice place.

OK, I just read the reviews that have already been given about this place, and frankly they seem a…read morebit unfair (and possibly out of date now). People have to remember that this is a budget hotel, not the Taj Mahal. You are not going to get pampered with scented oils while you are sponge dried after your morning shower. Our room for the night was clean, had fresh linens, and didn't have any problems with the carpeting. The fridge in the room was actually very good. Really, the only complaint I would have about the room is that the shower head was installed for very short people. Basically, it was at about shoulder level for me, and I stand at just shy of six feet tall. The owners weren't a problem, and we stayed the night there without any issues. Sure, there is no breakfast in the morning, but again this was a budget motel so we weren't expecting it, and knew going in that there wasn't one. That was actually just fine with us, since we had plans on going to a local diner for breakfast that we had seen while passing through town. Both the local diner closer to the center of town and a larger place on the East end of town were recommended to us by the very nice young man operating the front desk when we checked in. This place appears to have taken a U-turn in terms of quality, as it was exactly what we expected for the price that we paid.

She got our room ready after we just dropped in and brought us our room key while we were having dinner at the local Pizza Hut! We were Vendors at the 2019 Watonga Cheese Festival and desperately looking for a good place to stay for the 2 nights we were in town. We found this to be perfect for our stay. The only thing I would like to see added to the room is a coffee pot! We travel with our Press coffee maker and always have coffee with us so we were able to have our morning java!
