I had never heard of a cooperative school before I started my search for a local preschool for my…read moreson. I didn't even know this concept existed but I have since discovered it's an awesome way to run a preschool. I started out enrolling him in the parent's day out program which was awesome. I wasn't yet a member that needed to volunteer or anything so it was just a nice way to try it out and see if we liked it. It was like 4-5 hours (I forget) for a seriously small amount of money, especially compared to the babysitter I was considering hiring for $10 an hour. He brought his lunch and played with about 4 other kids, some younger some a little older. Everyone was aged 2-4 and the 2 teachers had great themed activities laid out each day. He was shy at first but by the time the program was over in the Spring, he was chatty and had made new friends. He was like a totally different kid. So after that, I officially joined the co-op. I was sold. I'm reviewing this as a "customer" and as someone who sits on the school board. The thing about a co-op is: you're both. I love that I get more than just a small say in the stuff my son is learning. I love that I get to help out with the running of a school and sit in on his class about once a month. I think if I had gone the traditional preschool route I would never know what I'm missing by not spending a whole day in class with him once in a while. It's great to watch learn and interact with other kids. OK so one thing you're wondering is: what am I going to do with my baby while I'm helping out in the classroom? This crossed my pregnant-lady mind when I first found the school too. Turns out I'm not the only mother of a preschooler with a baby (who'da thunk it?). We just swap baby sitting days in a toy filled room at the school. I tell you, my babysitting day is my favorite day of the month. Just this week I snuggled a wee baby while my 15 month old zoomed cars around on the floor with a 2 year old and it was an overload of adorableness. Way too much cute packed into one room. My son has blossomed since starting school and he has learned SO much. I am amazed at his social development too. He loves his teacher, so much so that he has a teddy bear at home named "Miss Marlo". I love that there's a focus on learning through play, a large focus on science, healthy snacks and lots of outdoor time. There's a huge outdoor play area with so many activities. I honestly feel like I've become a better parent because of what I've learned from my experience at this school. That sounds incredibly cheesey but cheese or not, it's the truth.

As a parent who really values the attachment that I share with my kids, I didn't want to send them into a school on a regular basis not knowing anything about their day, their peers, or their teachers. I had made that choice initially and realized quickly that it wasn't a good fit for us :). This school, on the other hand, welcomed my whole family through its doors and encouraged all of us to approach learning together. We took a tour, registered, and fell in love. I only wish we had found it sooner :)!

Kiddie Academy is always doing new and exciting activities that involve the children. I feel that my child is loved and safe. I am a mother of several children, and I am highly satisfied with the curriculum at Kiddie Academy. I truly believe that this is a great program to start your child off to be ready for elementary school. I have witnessed many of the teachers in different classrooms interact with the children. I am pleased with what I have seen. I highly recommend taking your child here to not only learn and grow, but to be cared for as well.

We are In the infant room and the ladies in there are amazing! Our first day, when we walked in they said "This must be Ella!"...this was a huge difference from the first day at the other daycare where no one was there to let me in the building. They are accurate with bottle feeding times and amount, diaper changes, and nap times. They send you a daily report about the activities she did and also how these activities help with her development. We also get a photo each day around lunch time! When I drop her off they are welcoming and she smiles so big. They also tell me every morning to have a great day at work! It's the little things. Great place and I would recommend it to everyone!

And to me hearing state is coming does not surprise me. They completely changed their character for when state is there or is coming. I've seen teachers yell at kids for minor things, teachers on there phones not doing their job because they will try to say something about them having the daycare app on there phone. I've literally have seen there phones clear as day or ask what they are watching and they will tell me. The Boss is so money hungry that when they have after school events all the money goes back in her pockets. So she can take month-long vacations every year and etc. I could go on and on about this place.

When I came in, one kid was screaming on the other side and all the kids were awake looking over at him while one or two of the 'teachers' were yelling at them to lay down or go to sleep. Actually yelled at the kids. (I get occasionally needing to raise your voice but there was no care or love or compassion coming from them). Before I walked back to get my daughter, I'd stepped into the office by the front door to speak to Krissie the manager or owner or whatever title and told her it would be our last day before I saw any of this. Reason for last day: (context) I'm separating from my husband and was told by several of the staff that they have never seen my husband and wouldn't let him take my daughter or would at least try to call me if he tried to take her. (He never picks her up) The next day, my husband did something strange that set off my anxiety and I was afraid he'd try to take her. I messaged them through their portal where they assured me that legally they couldn't do what they told me to my face they would.... A day or two prior. Time continues after last day: I get another charge to my account and email with a request for it to be resolved as I'd already told them we weren't coming back. No response from them. Time continues another week later: I get notification of another charge to my account and when I email with a request for it to be resolved, Krissie (the one I told first in the office that we wouldn't be returning) respond saying per the 'contract' I needed to give two weeks notice before no longer attending and I'm sure the now 345 charge as apposed to the weekly 275 fee probably has a 'late fee' attached to it. This is important because when I scheduled my walk through tour, I specifically asked Kelsey if we needed to give any kind of notice before ending service and she said no. There's also no electronic copy with time stamp provided to evaluate or compare to verify. Bullet points of major problems: -inconsistent communication -I witnessed on more than one occasion varying degrees of yelling at the kids. -poor hygiene (smells pretty bad pretty regularly and often they would let kids use the bathroom by themselves but didn't clean it or didn't provide them with toilet paper) -not looking out for the parent either if they are going to wait for you to walk into a pitfall of two weeks of additional charges and what I'm assuming is some kind of late fee without attendance after verbal communication before they are willing to address the issue. - has anyone else noticed there's like...4 or 5 different names or businesses or childcare's associated with this address that are supposed to be active? Not sure where to take that piece of information but I'm sure I'll find out. Reach back out to me if you're seeing what I'm seeing.
