We had also phoned ICBC. We chose to visit a different insurance office in Burnaby because it was closer to home. The Burnaby broker was rude, ill-informed, and did not seek the assistance of their own brokers or receive assistance from any Supervisor at ICBC. WHAT A MISTAKE ! After phoning Westland a second time, they assured us that they could provide the service we were seeking. It was well worth the 45 minute drive. The manager and the broker were courteous, knowledgeable, professional, and completed our transaction within a short period of time. They relieved our concerns and helped us cope with a very serious insurance matter. I can't recommend them highly enough. THANK YOU WESTLAND.

Corporate client had 12-15 employees. Rob could choose from 6-7 insurance companies for similar products being individual health and dental coverages. He chose Manulife knowing that I can't be contracted with them. Manulife is the only insurance company which doesn't contract advisors having a business outside the industry. Rob simply told me it's fine and he would give my share of commissions. Eventually, I made a complaint to our agency. Agency is not responsible for disputes between advisors, but kindly audited him on what was available. It showed Rob owed me around $1,800 for commissions. A portion of around $620 is still not paid to me since 2021. I asked the agency if there could be more accounts with Rob that he isn't declaring. Agency replied yes, but it's hard to prove. They also suggested asking corporate executives would damage my relationships which was 100% true and it did. Rob insisted that this is the last money he will be paying, and it should be in writing. I refused, telling him whenever I find other similar matters I will send him an invoice. We lost many potential deals with the client since it was clear to them Rob and I were not getting along. These were essential risk management strategies/concepts. I also made a complaint to the insurance council. Like agencies, this body is not responsible for disputes among advisors. Council mentioned 2x that the case was mismanaged, felt sorry that such matters occurred, and encouraged me to reach the court for matters on not sharing information, etc.. They even provided me with the information of a body, lawyers giving 30 minute of free legal advice. I resigned from the agency I loved since I didn't want to bother them anymore. Before resigning, Rob and I signed an agreement that the accounts are transferred to me. Rob never cooperated giving me a copy of the policies or even policy numbers. Rob stayed as an agency on record (AOR) since Manu wouldn't contract me. We were looking for solutions; in the meantime, corp. client didn't have time to switch to another insurance company which went against me . Rob stepped down, offering he would bring an advisor in 3 days to take over. Client panicked for not having an AOR, and told me to bring an advisor in 3 days. An advisor on my behalf sent the necessary forms to the client. What was missing were policy copies and numbers which Rob wouldn't provide. A day before the date, I stepped down since I thought the client was going through too many headaches. Client thanked me for my services during the years. Assuming Rob incorporated "Gawthrop Financial Group Inc." 30+ years ago, his daughter assisting him for several years as a licensed advisor, what can be the reason he recently changed his business name to Tune Financial which is not incorporated? I also see him pulling down profiles of two industry icons he mentioned as affiliates. Did he make these decisions or ...
