I am in the process of closing my account. I cannot wait to have AIB out of my life…read more This is not a personal attack on the branch workers because like Donna commented, they are great. I always have had pleasant experiences with them. The problem is AIB is too big and ugly now. The simple facts are: * Customer for 11 years. * As a student worked some summers for them. * Repaid any loans I had with them on time. * Debt free. * Have a job. Applied for a credit card. Denied. Why? "Well Annie (I loathe it when strangers think that we are cool enough to be on first name terms) it's because of your banking history." "Well Tom, what the hell are you smoking? I have a perfect record." "Yeah well we will have to wait another 6 months once we are happy with you incomings." "I have always had incomings Tom." "Well Annie I just am not comfortable giving you a card." "Well Tom are you comfortable with losing a loyal customer." "Of course not Annie." "You don't sound too bothered Tom. Is it because I am not 50 million in debt and colluding with politicians?" "Now Annie don't be like that." "No Tom, screw you, I'm closing my account." And the current bank I am dealing with are wonderful and have the smarts to see that I will make them money unlike AIB. Joke.

Banks aren't really all that popular these days. Wonder why that would be then... However…read moreregardless of their crimes (ahem alleged), they are a necessary evil though for the majority of working citizens. Perched in such a central location, this AIB is naturally a busy one but there seems to be a large, efficient staff to cope with the demand. The queues are not unbearable, even at lunchtime. There is a swift deposit facility and ATMs both inside and outside the branch. AIB provides phone and internet banking and are quick to act on swiped or lost credit card incidents. Definitely a convenient location for south-side shoppers, students and worker bees.

This company can do so much better. I have taken ferries to many destinations in Europe…read more Dog policy: For some ridiculous reason dogs must be kept in cages or down in the car without the ability to visit them. Even on short crossing that last 1 hour. When I took Scandlines from Germany to Denmark, my dog was allowed to enter the passenger deck, all I need was keeping her with a leash. If there are certain concerns of a dog biting a child than they could ask for a mouth gag as a condition to come aboard the passenger deck. It feels like they are doing me a big favor for allowing the dog aboard. The ferry ticket was quite pricey! more than 300 euros to get from Holyhead to Dublin and back with a car, and that was booked in advance. I don't see any advantage in booking early. This was the price for November... I wonder what they charge for the busier times of the year.

They serve food and beer and have a gift shop located inside. The reason I feel they do t care for Americans is we were 5 minutes late for boarding. They stated that we needed to be checked in 30min prior, we were 5 min late no one helped or instructed or told use we had to check in 30 min before boarding. So we had to wait 3 hours for next ferry. When we did get on they were letting people check in 10 to 15 min before wtf shady shady. Oh and not to mention when we did get on the boat the currency exchange located inside the boat said I had to wait a few because she was not ready, so I respectfully said I would be back. My wife said when I walked away she took the next guy in line. When I did exchange my money she looked at the new $100 dollar bill as asked if these were new, I said yes and she inspected very carefully marked it with a marker but it under the light and then said she can't take single large bills I shook my head lol

The College Green branch of Ulster Bank is huge and conveniently located. One element that makes the College Green branch special and noteworthy is their massive currency exchange counter. They have a large quantity of the common currency and can book you a fair rate. Unlike other branches at Ulster Bank, you do not necessarily have to reserve a quantity of the common currencies, ahead a time. If the rate suits you, you can walk in and purchase. The staff at this branch are very familiar with currency exchanges and they have their own counter, so you do not have to queue up with those conducting regular bank business. I used to bank with AIB and I found their online banking to be retro, and not retro in the sexy good way. Ulster Banks online banking is very user-friendly, clean, and effective. Their security features of setting up standing orders and payments are great - especially the FREE chip-and-pin yoke they send you to help ensure your online payments are secure.

Never have I experienced such a poor level of professionalism and customer service anywhere, ever. This company should not be allowed to handle money. Nearly £100 in charges just for going overdrawn once by £4.50 for less than a day. Their answer - they don't - they just ignore.
