If it looks like the weather is turning, I'd recommend starting outside and hitting up the batting cages or go-kart racing as those close first. We arrived just as the skies were opening up so concentrated on the inside. We had two small kiddos with us aged 5 years old. The Duckpin bowling was perfect for them. They loved it, and we selected the game theme as Christmas. Why not? It was Christmas in July! While bowling, we ordered dinner so we could eat and play at the same time. Think basic arcade/amusement park fare. But it was all pretty tasty. We ordered a large pizza and some garlic bread sticks. We devoured it all. From here, we went to the arcade, which was the biggest hit with the kids. They just loved all of the game options and winning tickets to win a prize. Personally, I was addicted to the quarter drop games and since it's all payment through a pre-paid card, it's easy to burn through the money! The rain eventually slowed so we checked out the outdoor putt putt golf and took the kids to a few of the rides. They loved the hot air balloons and the swinging ride. I will add, that the rides are more like carnival rides. Several of them were not working. We joined the kids on the spinning seat ride and there was a dramatic moment where they couldn't get any of the lap bars to open. It was actually very nerve-wracking. My bar wouldn't come up but after several tries they got it to open. My son's bar never actually got open after nearly the entire staff came out to help. He was surprisingly calm given the circumstances and we eventually were able to position him in a way that we could pull him out of the ride. The lap bar never opened. It was a little terrifying. But I'm giving the place a strong review since they truly seemed mortified by the situation. And allowed our kids to pick out whatever toy they wanted. While it was pretty traumatizing, they were able to pick out some new toys and that made them so happy. I was just glad I didn't sit in the seat my son was in. I don't know what would have happened!

Most local businesses are very busy during this week. We had to wait about 5 minutes before being able to place our order. Not really a big deal, but looking inside all we could see were 2 teenager employees working. There really needed to be at least 3, preferably 4. Someone dropped the ball on scheduling, OR has a problem with call offs. So we ordered our treats and waited. About 5 minutes after we placed our order, another customer came up to the window and ordered. Some of the people who had ordered before us were beginning to get their cones and shakes, but i could hear one complaining that people who ordered after him got their cones before him. After waiting another 10 minutes or so, the man who had ordered long after me got his shake and cone for his son. Yet, we had not gotten anything. By this time, an adult woman was helping the 2 young people (where was she earlier?). When i finally got my drink, i checked my watch. It took over 20 minutes to get what i ordered. I would have given it one star, but the young employees were very courteous despite being obviously frazzled.

The renovation has been slow and uncomfortable to workout. Jan 24th there was very little workout equipment. Feb 22nd there is more equipment but still only 4 treadmills. Still very much under construction and a note that March 1st my couples membership would increase to $75 ($49.99 + $24.99) monthly. I spoke with the new fitness manager who advised construction should be complete by June. I requested my membership was cancelled with the customer service person at the front desk that day. My credit card was charged on Feb 28th. My husband emailed today March 2nd and I will follow up in person to cancel my membership.

I know about how people love that new, well-greased equipment. I know about how people like their nationwide memberships and multiple convenient locations. Greentree doesn't fit those descriptions. At all. Which is actually why it's so awesome. From their simple, easy-to-navigate website: "The Greentree SportsPlex has always prided itself on being a friendly multi-sport family fitness facility, catering to the fitness fanatic, weekend warrior, and young athlete alike. Our staff is comprised of professional athletes, former collegiate student-athletes, and exercise enthusiast who take pride is helping our members with their fitness and health goals, no matter how small or large the goal is." Hidden at the top of a windy hill, this place is the epitome of of gritty, down-to-earth fitness. I have attended Marcy's hardcore Zumba classes on Mondays, and she is a rockstar. I've been to my fair share of Zumba classes, and her choreography is challenging yet fun and very dance-oriented, which I love. She integrates her dance background very well, and her song choices are always top notch. She also adds a great ab workout at the end. Kids run around getting ready for soccer practice, and there are activities for people of all ages and walks of life. Drop in classes are only $7, which is less than many fitness centers' package classes. The facilities may be older, but they are very clean and they provide towels if you need them. Accessible and caters to exactly the audience that its mission states it caters to. I like it.
