Food Basics offers affordable fruits and vegetables which is what we purchase here most often, as they tend to be more affordable. For instance, this is where you would find the red, yellow, green, and red peppers that are perhaps a little smaller or misshapen than you would find at the competition (think: farm boy, or Sobeys, Loblaws even), or not as round as the more expensive grocery stores, but certainly, these are still edible and tasty. We tend to look for the specials (you can look in flipp if you have a smart phone for the best prices in your neighbourhood.)
What I often find here in their very small flower section is that the blooms can be past their best-buy date, grown but not at their peak. But then, the bouquets are often offered at a better price, as a result.
The Food Basics has a decent international section, considering that they are a standard grocery store. The service is usually good. COVID restrictions are adhered to, with well marked aisles throughout the store and at the registers. They also have lottery services.
