NMD Spa - Skin Care Near Me - Palo Alto, California

I booked for the first time at NMD spa with Nina and it was nothing short of incredible! I'm having a rough time during my postpartum phase and Nina made me feel rejuvenated and relaxed for the first time in a long time. She was very kind, made me feel super comfortable (even though taking off my clothes after having 2 babies back to back is so uncomfortable for me right now) and explained everything so well. I will definitely be booking again. I did the 60min massage, body wrap, and 45 min facial. Highly recommend! read more

NMD Spa is above and beyond. I needed a proper massage as I slept oddly with my neck the night before and was all messed up. Normally, I'd go and get a massage at my health club's spa down the road but they were booked for a couple of weeks. I called up NMD Spa and spoke to Nina where she was able to get me in immediately (for a 90 min deep tissue at that) which took care of my kinked neck. Nina first and foremost asked questions on what I needed which I thought was nice where she then catered the deep tissue massage to fix me up. read more

NMD SPA is far the best spa anywhere in the Peninsula. Nina is an amazing masseuse. Her deep tissue massage is far the best bar none. I always go to Nina to rejuvenate myself back to life. I will not be able to function as a hair stylist without her. This is the place to get amazing facials too. I highly recommend NMD spa for all your body and skin needs. Look no further. You found your sanctuary! read more

This was my 3rd visit to NMD Spa. My first 2 visits were with Maddy who is exceptional! My review is based off of my most recent visit with a DIFFERENT esthetician who I believe is brand new. I had an express facial treatment scheduled and in my email confirmation the day before I noticed they had switched who my treatment was with and did not notify me in advance. Because it was the day before, I was not able to cancel without penalty. Going into the appointment I was a bit nervous since I do have sensitive skin and this person knows nothing about me, but decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. Big mistake. I got there early and she took me right away introducing herself and allowing me to get settled into the room while leaving the door wide open. She did not ask me any questions about my skin and the only thing she told me was she was going to cleanse my face first. After cleansing she started putting on more topical products still not saying a word. After that the treatment started and I asked her to do a 2nd pass through after feeling like she barely did anything on my face. During majority of the treatment the door remained open until we heard someone come in whereupon she got up to close the door. I laid on top of the bed the whole time cold. When the treatment was done I asked her about getting a night cream and she barely knew what to recommend. I assume if you are an esthetician working in a spa you should be familiar with the products being sold. I ended up just buying a replacement for what I already had since she had no clue what to recommend. When I went to the front to checkout she said "see you next time" and never scheduled me another appointment. I was pretty much relieved any way that she did not try to schedule me. I am very bummed to pay for this treatment from someone who is clearly very new and has no idea what they are doing. Hopefully the owner sees this and reaches out because this feedback needs to be seen and heard. read more

I've been seeking for many years since coming to Northern California a full service spa boutique that offers best-in-class facials, and other services like waxing, eye brow tinting, and massages. I wanted an expert in her field who offered skin care solutions as I age. A friend recommended ND Spa in Palo Alto. Nina, the founder and owner is highly skilled, informative, and knows her stuff! I appreciate how carefully she listens and doesn't get defensive when I describe my needs or ask for anything different or special. He facility is extremely clean, private, quiet, and more like a boutique offering vs. a large spa with a lot of technicians. I've been going to Nina for years and someone asked me today for a great massage therapist and I realized I needed to share my experience because Nina is a gem! She is busy and has a lot of loyal clients but she is worth waiting for! I recommend Nina hands down from anyone in the Bay Area! You will love her! read more

Felt like I got an amazing consultation and honest advice about my skin without being pressured to change all my products and buy something. Really relaxing and Felt they went the extra mile. Cant wait to take my husband. read more

Nmd spa & Skin studio: What a gem! I am so happy to have found this boutique style private practice conveniently located on South California Ave. in Palo Alto, where parking is easy and there are lots of other shops, restaurants and businesses to utilize (I was also able to get coffee, drop off dry cleaning & get my nails done!) Booking my appointment was super easy, they have an online booking system that you can use 24 hours a day seven days a week...I was able to do my booking online at 11:30 PM on a Sunday! They have evening and Saturday appointments available! There is a lovely courtyard that you enter, the office is in a professional building where there are other personal services; psychologists, doctors, chiropractors etc. The office itself is tucked away and private. The lobby is beautifully appointed, modern and clean. I was offered organic tea or lemon, mint infused water. Artisan candies were also on display and available for the guests. The treatment rooms are spacious, private and also beautifully appointed, modern and clean. I had a full set of lash extensions. I am a veteran when it comes to receiving eyelash extensions. My therapist listened to me and provided me with a full consultation in order to make sure that she was able to achieve exactly what I wanted. Not only did she achieve the exact look that I wanted, my eyelashes turned out perfect! They are long and dramatic but not too thick. They are gradient and give me a "starry eyed look" which is exactly what I wanted. My therapist was so professional and so skilled I could tell she would be able to achieve any look that I desired. Her expertise really put me at ease. I was so comfortable the entire time. The table was ergonomic and I was covered in a blanket. Since this is a high end practice, all of the products used are top-of-the-line. They used collagen eyepatches under my eyes instead of tape. They use Minkys lashes and glue which are among the best in the industry. My lashes are so comfortable, I can't even tell I have them on! They feel like my natural lashes! I walked away feeling like a million bucks and I was treated like a vip. Everyone was so warm and inviting. I am so so thrilled with Nmdspa I am excited to go back for my fill and try some other services... they do clinical facials, waxing and massage therapy also ... my new one stop shop for all my beauty needs. BRAVO! FIVE STARS read more

Wonderful place and wonderful staff. I've been there twice, and both times I had facial treatment with Nina. She is amazing! Nina does her job for 100%. No rush, you get everything you expect from this procedure and even more. I recommended this place to my friends and three of them had already visited it. Their experience with Nina was as wonderful as mine. I'm definitely planning to visit this place again! read more

Best facial I have ever gotten in the Bay Area. Nina was very thorough in cleaning out my clogged pores, where most estheticians just ignore them. The dermaplaning was also very thorough, where the other spa I tried missed several spots. Also, the 90 min facial comes with extensive massage--a great bonus! I also gotten waxed here before, and it was as relaxing as waxing can be--haha. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about NMD Spa. Nina, the owner, is welcoming, friendly, accommodating, and an expert in her field. I love the private small cozy environment of the spa, with a lot of local venues to visit, nearby, and parking is not impossible. :) Thank you for consistently amazing service. You will love everything about NMD Spa! read more

It has been quite a while since I have written a review on NMD Spa. In the interim Nina the owner has added new staff, most particularly her newest and current esthetician Maya. I have been going to Maya since she arrived and have I both facials and micro-penning. She is absolutely wonderful at both. She technically excellent in both areas (and I am sure others that i have not done with her yet). I always fall asleep during my facials; she explains what products she is using, is very thorough and gentle with extractions and facial cleansing; gives fabulous face, head and shoulder massages. She is a consummate professional and follows the mood of the client, aka, quiet if that is what is wanted, or, friendly and engaging if the client was to be chatty. So glad that Nina hired her and I can't wait until my next facial in a couple of weeks. If you love a going to a top-notch esthetician NMD spa is your place. read more

I set up an appointment with Nina for a Brazilian Wax. I really appreciated how easy it was to schedule the appointment online! The facility was very clean, and very calming. Nina offered me water or tea to get started. At almost 9 months pregnant, I know I'm challenging to wax. However, Nina went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable. The actual wax was one of the best that I've ever had. Probably the least pain I've ever experienced (and being pregnant I'm pretty sensitive). For aftercare, Nina gave me some lavender oil to gently remove any excess wax. She also provided a cool towellete. I also appreciated that Nina didn't try to upsell me on aftercare products. Instead she provided a Korean exfoliation mitt for aftercare. Book with Nina today, you won't be disappointed! read more

I recently had the pleasure of receiving a few treatments by Nina at her new spa location. The space is modern and sleek, with lovely decoration touches. My treatments for the day included a custom facial and a full body massage. We started with the massage and Nina asked me about my preferred pressure (dig deep into my tissue!) before going to town on my stress knots in my back and neck. I generally do not view back massages as a pleasurable thing given that working out knots and kinks is not painless, but Nina managed to interweave gentle motions that felt purely relaxing. The rest of the body was attended with soothing yet firm massage strokes and I dozed off a few times. Feeling relaxed and light, Nina then moved on to the facial. She inspected my skin and without any of my input needed she picked a series of products that calm down and treat skin prone to rosacea. She worked gently on my face and neck, massaging and polishing away all those lovely dead cells. The steamer she used felt warm but not too hot, again she tuned it perfectly from the get go to not agitate my cheek redness further. While the steamer was doing its work on my pores, Nina provided a treatment for my hands and feet, which were then placed into warm booties and gloves - not sure exactly what they were since my eyes were closed, but they nicely warmed my extremities and caused a cocoon like feeling. Throughout the facial, Nina informed me of what products she was using and why she chose that specific one for me. She came across extremely knowledgable and the entire treatment process was enjoyable. After I got dressed and left the treatment room, Nina greeted me with fruit infused water. I really enjoyed the small extra touches that are present in her spa. Most products (if not all) that she uses are available for sale in her spa and they're apparently very much in demand as she was running low on a few of the favorites. Needless to say, I am a huge fan after a lovely time at NMD Spa and will definitely be back soon for some more pampering! read more

I've been to NMD twice now. The first time for a Brazilian wax, unfortunately I forgot the person who helped me... But she was incredible, nearly painless and very thorough; not to forget, she was so absolutely friendly, professional and kind. The second visit was just today for a full body massage by Nina. Honestly, Nina is the BEST massage therapist I've ever had, hands down (no pun intended) and I get 1-2 massages a month with different therapist (haven't found the best until today). I went in with discomfort in my left scapula and lower back which has lasted for a little more than a week. I've tried everything from stretching to sauna to yoga and nothing helped. 10 minutes into my massage and I already felt relief. Nina begins gentle but goes harder, something I appreciate. Other therapist go hard from the beginning and your muscles aren't ready for noise like that! Nina was definitely very conscious of the locations that were bothering me and now I feel like I never even had discomfort. Before I forget to mention, Nina too is incredible sweet and friendly. I feel that the entire staff is full of wonderfully amazing people who care about their clients. I'll definitely be saving up to buy a few packages from them. Absolutely worth it. Bravo ladies, bravo! read more

I first found Nina when she was at another salon in Menlo Park. When she moved to set up in Palo Alto I was one of the first people through the door and I wouldn't think of going to anyone else. She's outstanding. I have had a facial, massage and other treatments but I've been going to her for waxing for the past 6-7 years and she is fantastic. Quick, as pain free as waxing can be, and thorough. She puts you completely at ease and seems to know when you're good to chat and when you want to have a bit of quiet. Booking on the schedulicity website is so easy and I can always find a slot when I need one. The spa is incredibly clean and tidy and it's so easy to find parking even on a Saturday with a large lot close by and on street parking too. She really cares about every aspect of her service and is an incredible professional. She's absolutely terrific. Her prices are also very reasonable compared to other waxing I've had done in the Bay Area. read more

Whew, I have had a few lower back issues that Sylvia has managed to get me through without heading to the surgeon to get my spine removed. It is Osteo Arthritis and a small disc is being affected but the pain radiates and it can be debilitating. I am not in a position to fix it and there are no miracle drugs. Just continue with exercise and supporting the core. Anyhow, I actually feel a bit guilty about going to NMD Spa but it is the only thing that gives me a sense of flexibility. Aging is no fun and I recommend visiting Sylvia. read more

If you're looking for an amazing, knowledgeable, and friendly esthetician, Maddy is your gal!! I first met Maddy at a different salon and both my mom and I followed her to NMD Spa because she is the BEST! Maddy will instantly make you feel like a you're a friend she's known for years. Skincare can be a very personal experience and Maddy just makes you feel so comfortable opening up to her! I've been to Maddy for both eyelash extensions and for skincare. I've had lash extensions done at several different places through the years and no one has ever done them as flawlessly (and quickly!) as Maddy. She really knows how to compliment the shape of your eyes with the lashes, and is careful to take care of your natural lashes in between fills. As far as skincare, Maddy is so so knowledgeable about all things skin! I was so impressed with her at my initial facial consult...and the facial was the best I've ever had. Throughout the facial Maddy discusses which products will be best for your skin, and she knows a lot about affordable skincare products, which I love! My skin has improved so much since starting my skincare with her and following her recommendations. I recommend Maddy to all my friends and family!! I only trust her with my skin and lashes. If you book an appt with her, she will not disappoint!! read more

I saw Megan for a leg wax, brow maintenance and an express facial. I'm so grateful to find someone who listens to exactly what I want! She took the time to ask how I like my brow shaped, checked in with me throughout the waxing and made sure I was relaxed throughout the facial. Everything was reasonably priced, she did mention pricing going up and I appreciated the information! Definitely found my new go-to esti, thank you Megan for all your care and patience!! read more

I came in today for a Brazilian wax and Melina is amazing!! I found out she's a former esthetician from the high-end and well known, Four Seasons Hotel, but now has her own clients at NMD spa. Melina was very professional, knowledge, and makes you feel very comfortable(thus my appointment was so much better). She did an incredible job waxing and it is definitely the best waxing experience I've had. In addition the spa is clean, fruit-Infused water, tea, and fruit are offered in the reception area. The room was tranquil and also spotless. I will return--Thanks, Melina!! Located on the second story: suite 220. read more

I got an extended bikini wax at NMD by Maddy today. I'm a veteran waxer and since Maddy has never waxed me before I was resigned/prepared for some pain or other rookie moves, but she was great! Confident yet gentle. She made me feel at ease, did a lot of check-ins about the process, and I left feeling clean and happy. Nina has also waxed me at this spa in the past and she is a master. Highly recommended. read more

I love love love both Nina & Maddy. They're rockstars when it comes to all things skin/skincare. Seeing Maddy has completely transformed my skin. I've had reoccurring little bumps on my forehead and cystic acne on my cheek bones and Maddy is the only one who has been able to recommend products to me that have actually worked & I've seen real results! Quickly too. I already can't wait for my next appointment so she can see the progress my skin has made. Couldn't recommend her & NMD Spa enough! read more

Nina is amazing!! I went to NMD for a brow wax first and had a woman who's name I don't remember. I am not too picky and the job was just average. I didn't get the fresh clean feeling after like i normally do, but I am also not one to say much, because I would rather leave them a little thicker than have them go too thin. I returned for a second appointment and this time with Nina. She shaped my eyebrows so beautifully, made me feel great and I have had countless compliments even after 3 weeks! I also have been to Nina for brazilian waxes, she is very quick and makes you as comfortable as possible in the painful/uncomfortable process. Highly recommend this place!! Plus they always have the tastiest fruit infused water! read more

This place is AMAZING!! I went in for a prenatal massage with Sylvia. She really knows what she is doing. I had the 60 min massage and walked away feeling like I could fly!! I have been to other places that claim they do prenatal massage when clearly they have no idea. Sylvia made me feel incredibly comfortable and relaxed. The only negative for some might be that you lay on your side. If you're pregnant and questioning if you should get a massage, the answer is YES go see Sylvia :) read more

what a wonderful experience! Nina was very thorough and gentle and made sure I was comfortable. A great experience, I will be back!

I've been seeing Nina for over 6 years and have recommended her to many family and friends that now also see Nina. There really is no one better. I have standing appointments for eyebrow maintenance and facials. My husband comes in regularly for massages, my daughter and friends for their own varied services. No words can speak as highly of Nina and her spa than the proof of satisfied repeat customers and happy referrals but I will try. Nina always makes every customer feel special and taken care of. Facials come with shoulder, hand and foot massages, brow services still get you the full comfortable lie down experience. Nina's personality is sparkling and warm. Trust me, you will be in good hands with Nina and the NMD Spa. read more
