Had a fun holiday lunch with a dear friend! The pear vodka drinks were perfect and the eggplant parm was delicious! The vibe was "very neighborhood" and friendly! We've been to Nitty's twice now - once for dinner, and another time for brunch. For dinner, we absolutely loved the Mac and cheese, Caesar salad and the cheesesteak Stromboli. The Stromboli is huge! It can easily feed 2 (maybe 3) people. They had a few great beers on tap, and great sounding seasonal cocktails. We returned for their brunch with Santa and also really enjoyed our meal. The omelette with sausage and the breakfast flatbread were both delicious, and our toddler appreciated the Mickey pancakes. Nittys is a great spot for the family during the day - and seems to be a great spot for adults later in the evening/on weekend nights. Our servers have been awesome both visits. Nittys is a cozy bar and restaurant with a nice variety of food choices. Everything is delicious. My favorites are their eggplant caprese salad, their roast pork sandwich and their gnocchi. I like dessert and their have several. Nittys is located in south Philadelphia where there are so many good places to eat. The one reason I keep returning is their great staff. Michelle is the best bartender/waitress!!! Her bubbly personality keeps me returning. I also enjoy being seved by Eddie the waiter. Nitty's is a great spot with good people and good vibes! It was described to me as your mom's at-home cooking, and I'd say it lived up to the hype. We ordered the eggplant caprese grilled, instead of fried. It was phenomenal. SO flavorful and a generous portion. We split the white pizza with grilled chicken for our entree and it was huge. We took plenty of leftovers home! Everything that came out of the kitchen looked extremely good, so it truly does feel like a place where you can't go wrong no matter what you order. The food was good & there was a wide selection of drinks and beer. We made a reservation for 12 but when we got there, 2 of our party had to sit at the bar while the rest of us squished around the high top next to the bar. It would have been preferable to sit together but we made do. I had the salmon BLT (minus the bacon) & the housemade chips. It was really good. I would recommend this place. I know a table of 12 can be difficult to accommodate so it doesn't affect my rating. This is a cash-only business. Definitely not preferable. There was no veggie burger substitution option & very limited vegetarian items on the menu. read more

we went on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Looking for a place with a draft beer and some sandwiches. The Calabrese pizza looked awesome in a sheet pan so we ordered it. Very satisfying! Had sea oil and seasoning on the crust which made it tasty and a break from the sauce and cheese with slices of eggplant and ricotta on top. Great tasting sauce.: this along with a couple shock, top wheat beers was a perfect match. Everybody seemed happy to be there as were we and we will be back. read more

Folks, I really try (and fail) not to give out a lot of 5 star reviews. You've got to give an experience that couldn't be surpassed. Nitty's nailed it on my lunch experience. Ordered the Ghost Burger, I'm a fire eater, no bread (on Keto), and this was one of the best things I've ever tasted. Literally, a top 20 and I have had the best beef, fish, pork and lamb the country has to offer. I can't decipher what gave so much umami to this burger, and it certainly wasn't off the charts spicy/hot. It was just perfectly balanced and incredibly savory. These Thursday night football seafood devours come all the way from the South Philly, Italian favorite @nittys__tavern . This establishment was once known as Tankies back in the day, and now it's under new ownership under the name of Nitty's. Upon my arrival they have both indoor and outdoor dining. They have a bar with a nice spacious area for tables. A very clean bathroom. They also have a DJ on Thursday and Friday nights. While here, my waiter was very polite and welcoming. He knew the menu like the back of his hand. I order the mussels (my favorite) with the red gravy. The sauce was super flavorful and it was literally god enough by its self lol swear! The mussels were super fresh and the grilled bread was absolutely amazing!!! Ugggh it was the best part!!! We had a great dinner at Nitty's yesterday. We arrived a little before 5pm, so some of the specials hadn't started yet as they start at 5pm. Our server was very friendly and attentive and kept drinks filled. The manager was friendly and got the Philiies game on for us on the tv in the outside seating area. The waitress gave good recommendations. I had gnocchi, which are homemade and are some of the best I have had. Large pieces, very pillowy and light. Great Caesar salad as well. My wife had salmon which was obviously fresh and it came with excellent wilted spinach in garlic and oil. Very reasonable prices for what one gets, great atmosphere, and we will be back. Food has been really good the 3 times we've been over the last 2 mos, but the service needs improvement with paying attention to needing refills (which also boosts the check as they're a bit pricy given the location), ticket times with food (apps should not come out with or after the entrees), etc. Bussers were more attentive than the wait staff which I couldn't attribute to being as busy as much as they were into their phones and socializing. Do not come here for a business meal! The food is OK, but not worth it. They DO NOT take cash. They will not tell you they don't take cash until the bill comes. You can say " we've never been here, do you have a recommendation" before you order and still they won't tell you it's cash only. There is no sign on the door and after we were told, we saw the tiny print at the bottom of the menu, that said cash only. When you don't have cash, they'll tell you there is an ATM inside the restaurant. Does the ATM connect to the internet to give you money....wellllllllll after waiting for 5 minutes, the answer is no! Instead you get a connectivity error. Save your time and money, plenty of other places in the area to spend it! read more

Make sure you ask for prices on the specials..Last night we spent $100 with tip for a well-done filet ordered medium for $32 and a plate of clams and mac which was decent but not $28 decent. This is by no means a bad review. I think you guys have some REAL potential here. However, my first visit wasn't necessarily one to write home about. Very nice people and a good menu! The atmosphere is just a bit awkward. I walked in today with no music playing, and it was just like strange quiet ambiance. overpriced junk food and mediocre (at best) service. they also have an "outdoor" space with no tables or waitstaff available that takes up the entire sidewalk. be careful if you decide to park on Moyamensing, you have to walk in the middle of the street and dodge traffic since their faux outdoor space leaves no room to walk safely on the sidewalk. I even seen a lady pushing a stroller have to walk in the middle of the street. should have decided at that moment that these people were no good. they won't last long. read more
