I'm completely shocked about my experience at Dr. Colvilles medical office in Ocean Springs…read more I checked in for my appointment and shortly after was taken to a small room. The doctors nurse came in and sat down, placing a device on my finger to check my blood pressure. She said she had a few questions to ask me. The first question she asked was if I had anyone designated to make medical decisions for me should I be unable to do so myself. I replied with "no". I then told her that since this was my first visit with this doctor, I'd like to see if we are compatible as it is difficult finding good doctors. She agreed. I told her that if I felt like it was a good fit, I could get the answer to that question after our visit and let them know then. She replied saying that there really wasn't a way to do that. She then told me to hold on and left the room. She returned a moment later standing in the doorway with the door open and said that they would not be able to have me as a patient as I refused to answer any of her questions. I told her that was not true at all. She didn't allow me to finish talking and actually escorted me out of the building. I could not believe the treatment from this lady. It felt as if I was an inmate at a prison. As I walked out past her to leave, I told her that she was way out of line. It is not unlawful for someone to be unable to or willingly not provide certain information on medical forms and surely it does not warrant discrimination and refusal of service. If they wanted extensive information such as the one question she asked me, they could send patients forms beforehand so that they could actually obtain that particular information. I've never had a doctors office ask me that so did not even have the answer for them. I also did fill out paperwork before the appointment online as well as providing them with their absurd $100 deposit they require should you cancel your appointment. Their office had cancelled my original appointment weeks prior via voicemail saying that the doctor had to leave town and asked if I could come in the very next day instead. I didn't receive the voicemail and so after speaking with them to reschedule, they seemed upset that I hadn't received their voicemail and so rescheduled me for 3 weeks later. They also called me the day of my appointment asking if I was able to come in earlier. The nurse was unprofessional, uncaring, and lacked empathy which is the exact opposite of what a doctors office should provide. As a side note, the environment of their office is small, dim, and maze-like creating a very crowded sense. It did not feel like a welcoming and positive environment to say the least. I would suggest going elsewhere.

I appreciate his 'lets get to business' attitude when he's dealing with me, and especially appreciate his ability to be warm and friendly to my wife and kids when they come see him. The staff are friendly and go beyond the typical norm when I needed it. For instance, I once got in a car accident and they provided me with all the care I needed and didn't make me pay a dime till the accident settlement came through 2 years later. When we didn't have insurance he'd never ask for a payment and would trust that we'd pay him when we could. Awesome doc

This was quite possibly the worst doctor we've ever been to. My husband takes medication daily for…read morehis thyroid and our previous doctor required he have his blood work done every three months in order to make sure the medication was doing it's job properly. The time to have his blood work checked coincided with our annual physicals so we made appointments to do so. We went into the examination room together and he saw both us. Neither of us disrobed and he simply asked us some questions. I'm a breast cancer survivor, yet he gave my husband a "breast exam" over his shirt but not me. He wrote up the forms for our blood work and sent us to an offsite lab when we were told when making the appointments that there was a phlebotomist on staff. This was important to us so that we didn't have to make multiple trips and increase the time a doctor's appointment takes. The office didn't call us when the results were ready and I called and left three messages before I was told that my husband's blood work was fine and that he could still take his medication. I asked them to call in his prescription, as per the norm we are used to with our previous doctor and was told that in order to get a prescription, for his medication, he would have to come in to the office for another office visit. This didn't make sense to me, since we were very clear when we visited Dr. Martin that our wellness exam needed to determine if my husband should still take the dose of medication his previous doctor had him on for the past two years. When Dr. Martin eventually called back, he was very blunt when he shared that he can't make money by calling in prescriptions over the phone and that his policy is that my husband would have to come back in for his prescription. I have never, ever heard of a reputable doctor requiring two doctor's visits, one for blood work and the other to simply write you a prescription. We, of course, decided that this was not the doctor for us and found another one who would do things in a more efficient manner as we believe our time is as valuable as his. When we called to report these practices to our insurance company, we were shocked to find that my husband's charges for his appointment were more than twice the amount of my appointment when we went in together and basically had the same appointment except for the "breast exam" he gave my husband. Dr. Martin comes across as a charming doctor and we'd hoped we were finished looking for a new doctor. We were highly disappointed in the entire process and wonder if his frustration, which he candidly spoke of during our visit, with the current state of medical insurance is more important to him than what is best for his patients. My level of frustration at his holding my husband's prescription "hostage" based on his receiving another fee for a doctor's appointment to write a prescription based on the blood work results from the first appointment, was extremely high. It also should be noted that we went online to the lab's site and downloaded the results to take to the doctor who wrote his prescription. I would never suggest anyone go to Dr. Martin, unfortunately. Charm can only get you so far as a doctor.

All of the staff was incredibly down to earth and friendly. Dr. Milan is a phenomenal doctor. One of the things that makes a great doctor is their ability to listen to their patients (which I have found severely lacking in the area). She doesn't type or write while you're talking, she listens and engages and cares and learns to understand your situation. Having seen many doctors on the west coast in metropolitan cities, I firmly believe that I will come to learn even more that she is one of the top best doctors in Ocean Springs, and the gulf coast of Mississippi. The office is beautiful, serene and has a calming affect. They also offer aesthetician and dermatology services in their spa. Just a beautiful establishment with good people and good energy. Nice location with easy, hassle free parking as well.
